3791484 tn?1348234566 I've been getting hives for three days straight. From the 16th til the 18th at night. When I was younger I'd get them constantly. They stopped after I got pregnant. At 17 then. Now 25.
Avatar n tn Of the currently available preparations, chlorpheniramine has been recommended as the first generation antihistamine of choice for use during pregnancy. Based on the information available, loratadine or cetirizine may be considered the second generation antihistamines of choice. Pseudoephedrine is a nasal decongestant which can be used for allergic rhinitis. Glucorticoids when used locally is also safe in pregnancy. You need to consult gynecologist before starting above drugs.
Avatar m tn For example. After I am stung by a wasp I get Asthma and other wonderful reactions a few minutes later. Would that be Systemic or Anaphylactic? I don't know my blood pressure when that happens.
Avatar f tn It's been 6 days since my last allergy shot. I am very early in the process and have only been getting them for about a month. The first 'yellow' bottle shots did not affect me. But when they moved up to the first 'blue' bottle solution I started having reactions - not immediate reactions but hours later and for days now. I itch like crazy on my head, my back, my ears and my skin feels bumpy. There are red bumps on my legs and my skin in some places looks very translucent.

Avatar n tn First you need to stay on antihistamine until it is gone. Benadryl is great stuff. You should see a GP or allergist doctor. You definitely had a reaction to that sting and are still having it. Sounds like the ER ruled out anaphylaxis but you did have Benadryl in you so that I'm not sure about the results. Just stay on antihistamine on schedule to prevent something worst.
Avatar f tn For pollen, dog and cat hair try taking some antihistamine like Zyrtec (works well for me). For the food allergies, you just have to avoid them. Try Googling some gluten-free recipes.
Avatar f tn You may be able to control histamine release and allergy/anaphylaxis with a prophylactic antihistamine medication allowing you to use Tylenol when needed.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
539780 tn?1213943976 After a few days if still swollen running hot water over the sting area makes it drain faster. Like hot water in the shower for 15 minutes twice a day on that spot. For me the swelling will stay for a good 2 weeks. But if I repeat hot water over the sting area I an make it go away in just a few days. By now you would have known if you were allergic. So if you had an allergic reaction other than swelling take antihistamine before running hot water over it.
Avatar f tn Hi; I also had problems beginning with hives and progressing to episodes of fainting/trouble breathing/swelling/redness/stomach symptoms. An allergist diagnosed me with "idiopathic anaphylaxis" - it's where your body makes too much histamine, for some unknown reason, and you end up with an anaphalactic (sp?) attack. It doesn't sound like you necessaryily have an anaphalaxis but hives are a symptom of too much histamine also. Have this checked out.
Avatar n tn I am 30yo. I have had hives for almost a year. I've been to several different doctors and they could not figure out anything. They want to admit me to a hospital, but that is a month away. Antihistamines don't work (I think, but I am taking them anyway). I have major hives ourbursts each day. It starts in the evening, explodes during the night, and they stop being active around noon the they after that. And then the night comes, and all over again.
620048 tn?1358018235 I have been having hives for a few momths and have been seeing my Drs. for awhile now. I had steroid infections twice and it knocks it out the next day but you can not have them very often. And I have been taking antihistamines the whole time but I am trying different ones hoping, like Melissa, that one will work. Other than that I stll have no answers. Its not that easy I am finding out. But I can't sleep, which i have trouble with anyway,. I posted a pic of one leg on here...
Avatar m tn I lived in a small basement apartment while in school for almost 2 years, the basement leaked everyday nand flooded muliple times. 6mths after living there I went into Anaphylaxis for the first time after eating salmon sushi, then continued to have massive reations to practically everything I ate for the next almost year.Almost 3 years later I live off just a hand full of things I know I can eat.
Avatar n tn I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
Avatar n tn Started out only 1 place at a time, now it can be 4 or 5 separate places swelling. Again, it takes 2 1/2 days for the swelling to occur after I eat something with corn in it. Even Ibuprofen and many vitamins have corn in it. Zyrtec, Benadryl, does not help. Has anyone been able to verify Corn as the culprit?
Avatar n tn I have just seen a dermatologist who changed my antihistamine presciption, and who told me the hives could be linked to my thyroid condition and has taken blood to test for C3, C4, haemoglobins, electrophoresis, full blood count and ESR. Can you explain the link please between hypothyroid and allergic reactions? Also, is there anything I can do myself to help matters as it's very depressing.
Avatar m tn My scalp was incredibly itchy, as was my face, and especially my nose and eyebrows. I had not had any antihistamine products, cold medications or antacids in the 10 days prior to the test. The allergist gave me an anti-histamine to control the reaction (cetirizine), but told me that he thought I had most likely outgrown my nut allergy as I did not react to the SPT. However, he could not tell me what I was reacting to -- hypothesized possibly heat, my own sweat, or idiopathic reaction.
Avatar m tn My wife has an anaphylaxis reaction to Neosporin and other similar medications. Is there a "test" we can have our children take to see if they have the same allergic reactions? Can this be hereditary?
Avatar f tn Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!
Avatar n tn The sting from fire ants, bees, wasps and hornets are usually painful, and may stimulate anaphylaxis for some patients. While bites from mosquitoes, fleas and mites are more likely to cause itching than pain. Are there other signs or symptoms present? If it persists, it would be best to have this evaluated further by your doctor. Try to avoid scratching the lesion to prevent secondary infection. Take care and regards.
