666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
Avatar m tn That is probably why they said to take an antihistamine. The ears can get fluid collected in them and cause pain. It takes a few days of the antihistamine to make it go away.Do you also have a sore throat and/or fever? Any pus in the throat?
Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
Avatar f tn I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.
12498457 tn?1425603087 When the weather changes from winter to spring-like conditions, my seasonal allergies kick in full force. So, the pressure buildup and sneezing fits (6+ in rapid succession) get worse. Allergy meds only help so much leaving me miserable and hoping I don't have a massive pain episode at work. Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on how to lessen the sneezing at least? With hopes that I'll be able to function at work until the end of March?
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
351404 tn?1299489130 Had an eczema with itching outbreak on forehead area and took a Benadryl antihistamine pill. Fine for 24 hours, then took another and that night had a three hour AFib episode. I remember about 20 years ago, I last took an antihistamine and got flutters. Is there a connection between AFib and antihistamine, ie have others an opinion or experience of this?
Avatar n tn Yes thyroid problems can cause muscle, and joint pain along with the headache and weight gain. The first time when I responded to your comment I didn't know about the weight gain issues because you didn't mention them. Hopefully after you begin treatment for your thyroid, you will feel better soon.
4477719 tn?1355188618 I'm doing better I did revisit my doctor he gave me Zantac which has helped alot. I'm having alot less itching and breakouts and we both think stress has been the cause. Thank for responding to my concern it is always nice to get some helpful information.
Avatar f tn Hello, I recently noticed a small lump under my foreskin, right at the base of the glans. It doesn't cause any pain, and can be moved a bit, and it's appearance leads me to think it's a pimple or cyst deep in the foreskin. A couple days after it appeared my real problem started. I noticed that the foreskin had swollen slightly over the top side of the glans shortly after I masturbated.
1274661 tn?1301868321 I already take zyrtec and rhinocort for allergies on top of all of the other meds I take for pain and reflux. I am seeing an allergist in August and I am going back to my pcp tomorrow for the millionth time. Any advice?

Avatar n tn It will eventually go away but usually takes time. For the meantime, you may take any antihistamine and check if your symptoms will be relieved. You should avoid scratching the area as well to prevent breaks in the skin and possible introduction of bacteria. Take care.
Avatar f tn Here she thought she had done the right thing by taking an antihistamine and it had the exact reverse effect. We have no idea what started this whole process and now treating it is a conundrum. She is presently waiting to get an appointment from an allergist but by the time that happens, the hives should be gone. She is trying benadryl cream (topical) and that seems to be working to some extent on the spots on her arms. With any luck, it will help the rest go away too.
Avatar m tn Cold accumulates for 2-3 months and then headache starts. Now days I also get pain back of my head, ears or some time below ears and jaws back side. Avatar n tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema.
Avatar n tn Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is an antihistamine and is used to treat sneezing, runny nose, itching and other allergies. So, as mentioned above it dries out the secretions and hence is not recommended in lung disorders. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene . Avatar n tn try clariton oral, nasal crom and allaway(eyes) or just try the clariton and alaway first and if needed add the nasalceom. I have severe allergies to cats and dogs, pollen etc. and it works for me.
Avatar f tn ) and now recently, it hit again with inside of eyelids very red, and I started to have some pain too. So I became concerned. The pain is intermittent, but if it started to be continuous it would quickly become an issue! It feels a little like eye strain- like a pulled muscle type of feeling, uncomfortable and sore on the eye intermittently, and there is some soreness inside the lids and dryness. Noticeable strain looking up and down, left right... it pulls and feels sore.
