351404 tn?1299489130 Had an eczema with itching outbreak on forehead area and took a Benadryl antihistamine pill. Fine for 24 hours, then took another and that night had a three hour AFib episode. I remember about 20 years ago, I last took an antihistamine and got flutters. Is there a connection between AFib and antihistamine, ie have others an opinion or experience of this?
Avatar f tn Pregnancy may be complicated by new-onset or preexistent allergic disease, including rhinitis, anaphylaxis, urticaria and angioedema, and atopic dermatitis. Pregnancy and asthma is extensively studied. Of the currently available preparations, chlorpheniramine has been recommended as the first generation antihistamine of choice for use during pregnancy. Based on the information available, loratadine or cetirizine may be considered the second generation antihistamines of choice.
Avatar f tn Pretty much, yyou can't take anything with a decongestant. Normal, regular antihistamine should be fine.
268356 tn?1236002604 Doc called earlier this am and said no to the theraflu. But said that taking an antihistamine, a decongestant, and tylenol should have about the same effect. So, I took a benadryl, a sudafed, and a tylenol, but that's just not really helping either. I think I know the culprit though. I have a new neighbor that is about an 1/8th of a mile down the road from me. The old neighbors used their barn to store stuff in and the new ones are using it to smoke tobacco.
Avatar n tn If ok with your doctor, have you tried an antihistamine/decongestant at night before bed .. sometimes what you describe may be post nasal drip but I'm not a doctor .. just my immediate thoughts reading your post. The decongestant may help dry things up. A sinus infection can do similar with the drip, too. The drip can also cause asthma-like symtpoms (bronchiospasms) to happen from the irritation. Just some thoughts to ask your doctor. WELCOME to our community!
Avatar n tn However, phenylephedrin is a decongestant, benadryl is an antihistamine and vicodin is a narcotic pain reliever. The concern would be that both bendryl and the vicodin would cause drowziness on their own. They would magnify that effect when taken together. You might want to take Zyrtec instead of the benadryl as Zyrtec doesn't cause the drowziness that benadryl does. Other than that, they are safe to take together, but don't drive and limit other activities. Take care.
Avatar m tn I would ask your physician to prescribe a decongestant and/or another antihistamine, i.e. Sudafed PE and/or Astelin Nasal Spray if the Nasonex isn't working.
Avatar f tn Since it is a cold symptom reliever, not an antihistamine, if it is the decongestant helping, you might want to call your doctor's office and ask about decongestants/expectorants that are safe. Also, the best suggestion I received during my last pregnancy when it came to congestion was to get a humidifier. Ours was only a $20-30 one from Walgreens but was a life-saver!
Avatar n tn I was wondering where the best place for me would be to find a complete list of medicines I should stay away from with Long QT syndrome. I have a list but it is over 5 years old, and I am in need of a new one! Thank You!

1711722 tn?1356487554 I take Allegra D (an antihistamine and decongestant) and motrin because I cannot take tylenol. I have had a cold or a mild version of the flu at different times since starting tx (am better now). I wouldn't take anything without talking to your doctor but the allegra d was deemed ok by my dr and it is now OTC. I know it is ok with peg+riba+ and incivek. Hope this helps and hope you feel better soon!
Avatar f tn Hello, The most common way to get rid of a stuffy nose is to use an over-the-counter (OTC) decongestant combined with an anti-inflammatory analgesic (pain reliever) like Ibuprofen. However, you should not use decongestants for more than 5-7 days at a time. This is because they can only provide short-term relief for catarrh, and using them for any longer can make your symptoms worse.. Avoid indigestible, spicy, foods and meats. Eat simply of wholesome food.
Avatar m tn You will also need blood counts, chest x-ray and sputum examination. Decongestant drugs and antihistamine drugs may be helpful in such symptoms. Canker sore can be caused by vitamin B-12, zinc, folic acid, or iron deficiency. It is best to consult a healthcare professional. Treatment will depend on the diagnosis. Keep me posted. ‘Best luck and take care!
1274661 tn?1301868321 t want to try the claritin-D because it is a decongestant and they make me feel crazy and just seem to drain everything into my chest. Avatar n tn Since what you're coughing up is clear, it might be allergies. Have you tried an antihistamine or decongestant? If that doesn't help and it continues, I would see your doctor.
Avatar m tn This can be dust, smoke, pollen, pets or chemical fumes. An over-the-counter antihistamine-decongestant combination may help stop your allergies and your cough. Talk to your doctor about this for proper management. Take care and best regards.

Avatar m tn Make sure that the antihistamine you're taking doesn't have a decongestant included. I've taken Zyrtec D prior to bed a few times and stared at the ceiling for hours.

Avatar m tn If you can afford to (sort of pricey at $20 for a 2 week supply) I would get Claritin-D or Allegra-D. They have an antihistamine as well as a decongestant. You have to get them from a pharmacist (behind the counter) and show your ID. I take Claritin-D daily for the same symptoms you have. I get bad headaches at night and my nose gets stuffed, with sneezing and runny eyes. Since starting Claritin-D, I no longer have that problem unless it wears off before I go to bed.
757137 tn?1347196453 t do that, it mostly applies to joints. Mullein is a lung decongestant, and is usually used in formulas to reduce congestion. Planetary Formulas makes a good mullein combo. However, what I don't know is if you take it all the time whether it will eventually stop working. You can go to the company website and ask and they should be able to answer the question; the company is owned by two of the foremost herbalists in the world.
