Pretty much,yyou can't take anything with a decongestant. Normal, regular antihistamine should be fine.
If ok with your doctor, have you tried an antihistamine/decongestant at night before bed .. sometimes what you describe may be post nasal drip but I'm not a doctor .. just my immediate thoughts reading your post. The decongestant may help dry things up. A sinus infection can do similar with the drip, too. The drip can also cause asthma-like symtpoms (bronchiospasms) to happen from the irritation.

However, phenylephedrin is a decongestant, benadryl is an antihistamine and vicodin is a narcotic pain reliever. The concern would be that both bendryl and the vicodin would cause drowziness on their own. They would magnify that effect when taken together. You might want to take Zyrtec instead of the benadryl as Zyrtec doesn't cause the drowziness that benadryl does. Other than that, they are safe to take together, but don't drive and limit other activities.

I would ask your physician to prescribe a decongestant and/or another antihistamine, i.e. Sudafed PE and/or Astelin Nasal Spray if the Nasonex isn't working.
Since it is a cold symptom reliever, not an antihistamine, if it is the decongestant helping, you might want to call your doctor's office and ask about decongestants/expectorants that are safe. Also, the best suggestion I received during my last pregnancy when it came to congestion was to get a humidifier. Ours was only a $20-30 one from Walgreens but was a life-saver!

Obtain needed out-of-door exercise, sunbaths, and swimming. It can also be treated using an antihistamine nasal spray. Antihistamine like benadryl works by blocking your immune system's response to the allergen.
Symptoms can also be relieved by using a nasal spray that contains corticosteroids. Corticosteroids work by helping to reduce inflammation and congestion.

since then i have seen the doctor a number of times for the issue been told each time there is no redness and no infection .i have tired earwax removal kits ,the netting pot, and many home remedies nothing has worked its been 3 months it's itches like crazy inside and there is a little pain .
Make sure that the antihistamine you're taking doesn't have a decongestant included. I've taken Zyrtec D prior to bed a few times and stared at the ceiling for hours.

Severe and chronic cases may require sinus drainage. These remedies should work for you. If the symptoms still persist then pls consult an ENT specialist.

If you can afford to (sort of pricey at $20 for a 2 week supply) I would get Claritin-D or Allegra-D. They have an antihistamine as well as a decongestant. You have to get them from a pharmacist (behind the counter) and show your ID.
I take Claritin-D daily for the same symptoms you have. I get bad headaches at night and my nose gets stuffed, with sneezing and runny eyes. Since starting Claritin-D, I no longer have that problem unless it wears off before I go to bed.
