antibiotics

2074233 tn?1337641615 I am a 53 year old female with copd. I have already been on antibiotics twice this year and i am coughing up so much phlegm now it's making me weak all over. I take advair, am trying the new drug dailiresp, 1mg. of klonipen and wellbutrin {even tho i have not smoked in two years}. I have applied for disability and according to the pulmonologist my fev1 is 0.97 and my diffusing capacity 9.1. Those are 35% and 38% of predicted respectively.
Avatar n tn I have built up a tolerance to Levequin, Zithromyacin, Amoxicillin, after 9 years of COPD and now have bronchitis. Any suggestions for other potential antibiotics or other ideas?
Avatar n tn If it's COPD then why arent any breathing treatments, inhalers, antibiotics helping at all? My dad can't do anything without coughing so hard that he almost passes out. He's tried everything Drs have given him and not even a breathing treatment or inhaler even helps him. Drs say they're puzzled. What could it be?

Avatar n tn Since I do not have insurance, I went to a hospital emergency room, and they said I have COPD, I lost touch with reality. January 2018 I started on the COPD natural herbal formula we ordered from GREEN HOUSE HERBAL CLINIC, We spoke to few people who used the treatment here in the United States and they all gave a positive response, my symptoms totally declined over a 7 weeks use of the Green House COPD disease natural herbal formula.
430381 tn?1203881725 Yesterday, My husband got so short of breath that we took him to the emergency room, they admitted him, They've taken to sets of x-rays, but, won't tell him much of what is going on, the doctor did say he'd be in the hospital for a while, and something about his COPD being asperated or something like that, does anyone know what that is? I'm really starting to worry , because no one is really telling us anything. Is it something we should be very concerned about?
Avatar n tn Obviously COPD does not get better, then worse, then better, so something else is going on. They gave you antibiotics for your chest condition. Antibiotics treat bacteria, but more often than not, lung infections are fungal in nature, so antibiotics are useless. In fact, if fungi are involved, antibiotics are harmful. The most common fungal pathogen is Candida albicans. Often people's COPD is made worse by treatment because the presence of candida is ignored (or not investigated).
Avatar m tn Is it possible to be misdiagnosed with COPD if person is recovering from a "chest cold" at time of the X-Ray?
20793681 tn?1556071128 Now it is just the pressure and only every now and then and slight. So I have been having COPD and asthma difficulties for about 2 months. My oxygen saturation has dropped into the '70s and even the 60s where I had to go to the ER for tretment 3 different times. I came down with a cold/virus that was horrible for me with the COPD/asthma. I could barely walk my heart rate ws horribly high and I could barely breathe and very fatigued.
Avatar f tn I am having an extreme exaserbation of copd. Coughing up an endless amount of phelgm, sorry I know it's gross. Will this pass, and can a doctor do anything about it?
Avatar f tn I am a seventy-plus year old man who has been living with COPD for a long time and have been taking hydroco/APAP 5.5mg. for back problems. Lately I have noticed more fluid in my lungs and more wizzing as well as shortness of breath. Could it be caused by the aspirin in hydrocodone? My pharmacist has suggested that I ask my doctor to change me to the 5.3mg.or the 10.3mg. which have less aspirin. Would the change help? Thank you.
1485281 tn?1287948392 COPD does not attack suddenly. Sounds more like an infection. For both infectious and non-infectious bronchitis it is extremely helpful to to take 1000 mg of vitamin B5 until the condition subsides. B5 is both a mucus thinner and an anti-inflammatory. There are no side effects. I have been taking B5 for chronic bronchitis for a long time. I also take 500 of vitamin C, another anti-inflammatory.
Avatar n tn they gave me some antibiotics and another inhaler and did mention that if this keeps up i will have COPD but didnt say i have it right now. also said im to young to be having all these breathing problems and told me to quit smoking whitch i already knew. im gonna try agin in the next couple of weeks, when i quit last yr i just felt so much better, i dont know why i ever started agin, stupid cigarettes.
Avatar n tn I popped in a nitroglycerin one at a time; I used my COPD inhaler. Finally, I called 311 and was taken to the hospital. The doctors guessed I had pneumonia and put me in a HARD mask to clear my lungs. I liken the condition to severe asthma. This happened 2 or 3 more times in the course of one year. Finally, the heart doctor took over my treatment and prescribed entresto and a strong inhaler to be used when my breathing becomes labored.
Avatar f tn Could this be a result of the local anesthetic injections, or a worsening of the copd? I can only get rid of bronchitis for about a month before it comes back every time. Antibiotics (doxicycline) seem to have the inside of my mouth raw, with white patches on my tongue and a few white blisters in mouth, also. Now I'm on Penicillin for the teeth. I am on chantix, too. Quitting after 37 years.
Avatar f tn Have you been diagnosed with COPD? Chronic bronchitis is a component of COPD as well as asthma. I have COPD and I can tell you, you get colds and infections much easier. Advair will cause thrush. Rinse well and eatting yogurt can help. There is no cure for COPD, but with proper meds, nutrition, and exercise. Has your Alphas been checked, there is a gene that can cause COPD even if you haven't smoked.
Avatar m tn You need to undergo chest radiograph, respiratory function tests to rule out COPD. Acid reflux disease is known to cause acute exacerbation of COPD. Even allergic conditions or asthma is known to cause such symptoms. For other mentioned conditions you may have to undergo Hb% level, ECG, echocardiography to diagnose the exact cause and appropriate treatment. Adding of mucolytics and steroids (provided no infection is present) to ventolin will help.
Avatar m tn You've already had COPD testing? COPD is mostly from smoking. Astma usually strts in childhood and improves with time and it is rare after 40.
Avatar m tn But all in all they said I had a case of bronchitis and gave me some antibiotics and prednisone. So I finished the steroids and antibiotics and was still having problems so I went back and they did another pft and this time my fev1 was at 84% and doctor told me that he wanted to prescribe more steroids and antibiotics this time I asked him if there was anything serious going on like copd and is said no because my lung capicity was at 94%.
4697796 tn?1358106680 I am in last stage of copd and have had a prisp. from my doctor. She even has put medically necessary on script but my insurance (amerigroup) will not fill it for me. Avatar m tn ve went to the doctor a year ago and was diagnosed with acute bronchitis and took antibiotics to get rid of it. However, it never completely left. I always find by self breathless, tired, drained and I hardly have any energy. I also am constantly spitting in light red blood with yellow mucus mixed in it. So do you think I may have copd?
Avatar n tn The commonest cause for COPD is smoking. Treatment is usually symptomatic. Antibiotics for infections and bronchodilators for bronchospasm. And of course avoidance of smoking to prevent further damage to the lungs. If the inhalers are inadequate consult your doctor for alternate ones. Talk to your GP regarding this in the meantime you could try warm salt water gargles, steam inhalations and breathing exercises. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with COPD. I use Combivent twice a day. I have a odor in my nose. It smells like bread/yeast.
1618247 tn?1298753263 If you are not showing symptoms then why were you diagnosed with copd? Copd is an umbrella term used to house several lung diseases. Resently they have taken Asthma out of it. I don't know why. Now it just umbrellas Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema. Cystic fibrosis and lung cancer can also reside under that umbrella. Restrictive (Interstital) Lung Disease is also considered. This one is just technical for scaring of the lung.
