Avatar n tn There is no evidence to show that cats can transfer FIV to humans. It is important to consider that FIV-positive cats may carry other diseases that can be transferred to humans, such as Toxoplasma gondii (this is especially important for immune-suppressed owners). Avatar m tn Hey Natasha, welcome to the forum, but no, no, no. While amoxicillin IS used on cats, it's impossible to say how much of a 250mg capsule to give since kitty is much smaller than we are. And besides, you don't know What the lump is or even if it would respond to an antibiotic. Just as a good rule of thumb, never give human meds to kitty. Please give your vet a call on this one.
Avatar n tn Sovereign Silver works great on this....and eye infections, administer oraly 3 time a day, for 2-5 days if being used for any eye infection...keep eye clean with saline and treat with silver..a drop in eyes, a few times a day .....also for urinary tract infections use tinkle tonic...the vets wanted to put my cat to sleep he was so bad....
Avatar f tn One of the difficult things about a cat having a stuffed up nose is that if it gets stuffed enough to block up their sense of smell, they WILL stop eating, because a cat will not eat what it cannot smell.
Avatar n tn Now all the hair is falling out, both cats. The groomer used a new shampoo on the cats. The vet said he sees no sign of mites, ringworm, any illness -- the cats are eating, playing, grooming themselves, not scratching. But all their hair is coming out in huge lumps, right down to the skin. The hair is all dead, just waiting for us to comb it out. The groomer says this is impossible. The shampoo manufacturer says this is impossible.
Avatar m tn It seems to help a little, but I am still coughing. My father used to have bad allergies to our cats, and my parents think that maybe the cats are causing the problem. This seems to make some sense, except that this all started with a cold while in Minnesota, and also, remember the cats have been sick as well. They were sick before me. That led us to believe that it might be something in our apartment. We had the air tested for mold and some other common problems, which came back as normal.
Avatar f tn Antibiotics are usually given to cats that have heart murmurs before dental procedures. Cats with heart murmurs are more prone to get heart valve infections. Please, let the vet know before you get the dental done that you weren't able to give her the antibiotics correctly.

Avatar f tn and I never thought I would ever take antibiotics again until I had tonsillitis and I told my doctor that antibiotics made me very sick. He suggested this probiotic with penicillin and I didn't experience the same symptoms over again and for that I am thankful. You can easily find this probiotic vitaminized.
Avatar f tn I live on a farm and have many barn cats. Last fall I noticed many of them sneezing, and they have leaky eyes and now that winter is here they are really coughing and sneezing with eyes and noses that are leaking. I feel so sorry for them and I don't know what they have? I have been giving them lots of warm meals and cleaning their eyes and noses. Thank you.

7667275 tn?1393196119 I got a kitten two years ago from a breeder. He started to sneeze, have runny eyes and get diarrhea. He was put on antibiotics 2-3 times. Everything but the sneezing went away. When he got to be 9-11 months old one day he acted lethargic so I took him to the vet. He ran a fever and was put on antibiotics. The antibiotics didn't seem to work so he was put on more powerful antibiotics that also didn't work.
Avatar f tn Not everyone likes what I do but it is the only thing that works for IBD cats. My best advice is, do not waste money on prescription foods. But, if you want to try them just because your vet recommended them, then go ahead. Hopefully, her symptoms will vanish. But if they don't, just know that your cat's condition has a fix, and it is called Raw Food. I have been feeding my cats raw foods since I had enough of Abby's bleeding and discomfort. He was giving up on me.
Avatar f tn Cats do NOT get colds like we do-we get cold viruses that eventually go away. Cats get respiratory infections that are caused by bacteria and need antibiotics. I am sorry to tell ya this, but this will not just go away-your cat needs antibiotics that are different from the ones that were used for your cat's ear infections. Will your vet take post-dated checks? Or, you can look into a special credit card for pet care only called Carecredit.
Avatar n tn When he breaths he makes like a snoring sound. He has been treated with antibiotics and has loss weight. Could he have injured/purferated the throat and if so will it heal on its own?
Avatar f tn I have used different things on my cats. One of my cats wasn't stitched up enough and has a huge chunk of skin that drags along with being obese. She's got arthritis in her back legs so alot of activity isn't working out for her but she's on a restricted diet. Well she can't groom well around the fat and extra skin so her butt winds up sore and inflammed. I didn't know it until I found her trying odd positions to wash it.
Avatar f tn Personally I wouldn't be too concerned about pain issues.....I've had many cats spayed or neutered and haven't often used pain meds....just keep an eye on him that he's eating/drinking/going potty normally, he should be fine in a day or two. Don't attempt to give him anything OTC....this can be fatal. Call the Vet in the a.m. if you think he's in pain, but I think he'll be fine. best to you both, keep us updated...
Avatar n tn Hi everyone, friend recommend cats claw to me and I wanted to know if you can take with antibiotics and also has anyone tried it? Thx. Jamie.
Avatar n tn You may lose him if he doesn't go to the vet's. If there is pus it is infected and he needs antibiotics, and there is a chance that if this is not treated he could get a blood infection (septicemia). Antibiotics are not expensive, but repairing his mouth may be.
Avatar f tn The vets don’t recommend to give cats, humans antibiotics, as some may not be suitable for them, however, they are some human antibiotics that can be used in cats, like Amoxicillin, but you need the right doses or else it can lead to overdose.
