Avatar m tn Hi my girlfriend got diagnosed with PID and had the 2 weeks treatment, and was negative for and STI, i was also negative for an STI and had a stat dose of 4 antibiotics but we had sex 5 days after i took the antibiotics, i was just worried that we had sex too soon? could there be a chance that we could be reinfected by me? and what also would have caused the PID?
Avatar m tn 1) At the time I got the STD tests we had been having sex normally (and I had stopped post-surgical care) for months – if she had PID or something like that (I know the PID isn’t an STD itself, but you know what I mean), is it safe to assume I would have gotten it and tested positive? 2) Would the medicine used to treat a yeast infection have any affect on any STD’s . . . is the fact that that treatment seemed to do the trick a good sign?
Avatar n tn Oh, no you cant take any antibiotics for PID. PID is treated immediately with antibiotics for at least 1 week. Sometimes PID is caused by more than one type of bacteria and a combination of antibiotics that are effective against a range of bacteria are usually prescribed. PID may require hospitalization.
Avatar m tn She got her STI test done and they told her on the spot that some swelling is an indication of PID (Pelvic inflammatory disease) and she needed to start antibiotics right away. My understanding is that PID is a result in most cases (have read between 75-90%) of either chlamydia, or gonorrhea, but can also be due to other non-sexually transmitted infections too. I am going to need to go now as well and likely take antibiotics right away.
Avatar f tn I was treated with antibiotics the first time.
Avatar n tn how long until the pain goes away while getting treated for PID? i am getting treated for PID but it has been 6 days since i started the antibiotics and still have the pain.
Avatar m tn From what I understand, treatment of PID consists of a 14 day session of different antibiotics. Unfortunately our insurance plan sucks this year so I will likely pay hundreds of dollars for anything that happens at the gyno. :( I want to make sure that I get the treatment that is only absolutely necessary. Thanks for answering.
Avatar f tn Hi there and welcome/ Well, she did the right thing by seeking medical attention and that is the help she needed. PID is an infection of those areas and if left untreated, it can be life threatening. However, she's now had medical attention and the antibiotics should work well. Make sure to remind her to take them faithfully UNTIL GONE.
Avatar m tn My girlfriend recently had a hospital visit thanks to a bad urinary infection. While there she was told she "might" have PID and was treated for it. She had also just undergone a colposcopy which might have produced the tenderness that mimicked PID. Both of us have tested negative for Chlamidia and Ghonorea and HIV. She also has jock itch type rash that has been responding to ointment she was prescribed it.
Avatar f tn Ive started treatment for PID antibiotics, my symptoms have been pretty severe. Its hard to know here in australia , there is no blood test or swab they can do to determine its just a clinical diagnosis. but glad im finally getting treatment, i dont feel any better yet but i have only had one days worth.
Avatar f tn When I went to the doctor they told me I had pid when I got my result back for gonorrhea syphilis and chlamydia they were negative im not on birth control and I stop so what are the ways I could of gotten it and should I be worried do I need to go to a another doctor
Avatar n tn Usually, an infection with GC can go unnoticed and then you are not treated with the proper antibiotics and then get PID. Also, GC is becoming very resistant and it could be that you were not diagnosed properly and then given the wrong antibiotic. They need to do an endocervial culture to check for GC and Chlamydia trachomatis as well. They can treat with broadly acting antibiotics to get rid of all of these organisms.
Avatar n tn Weeellll. PID is scarring of the ovaries, uterus, and Fallopian tubes. It's the cause of most infertility, so I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say you have about a 20-25% chance of getting pregnant. PID IS CURABLE, HOWEVER! If you have antibiotics for it, it'll go away. If you've had PID for a long time, you may be infertile. But if you've recently been diagnosed with it, you can still fix it!
Avatar f tn Yes, actually it is very possible. Say for example you leave a tampon in by accident, that can lead to PID. Basically PID is a infection of that area internally. It can be very serious ad requires a doctors visit and antibiotics. Please see your doctor if you are worried about this.
Avatar m tn It sounds like a yeast infection caused by antibiotics that she was probably taking for PID. When you kill the good bacteria with antibiotics, you can get a yeast infection from the imbalance. There are over the counter medications you can try for yeast infection. If it doesn't work, then she should visit the gyn.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been diagnosed with PID today as I was suffering from constant lower abdominal pain for the last week. I have had this pain before, for shorter periods, and I am not sure for how long I have had this disease. I have not been feeling well for about a year, with regular pain stomach, digestion problems and other symptoms that were just diagnosed as "stress" by the doctors.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with high-risk HPV a year ago. At the time, I experienced a major drop in my immune system. I got PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) and multiple UTI and yeast infections. After a few months, everything cleared up and all was okay until lately. Now, almost a year and a half later, I have another very painful PID. My questions are: Is the PID caused by HPV? I've been screened for other STDs and I'm all clear. Did I contract PID from a sexual partner?
Avatar m tn My doctor prescribed me Azithromycin tablets to take as one dose and then gave me an injection of Ceftriaxone and prescribed me Doxycycline and Metronidazole after I told him I was still having severe abdominal pain. However, my doctor said that after the pelvic exam and ultrasound, he did not suspect that I had PID and that a laparoscopy would be more definitive to diagnose it.
Avatar m tn i had PID once .... was very painful.... that gave me antibiotics to take for a week and that was it....
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with PID 3years ago and i also discovered that i had staphylococcus aureus.I was given some antibiotics in the form of injections and tablets and it was able to treat the PID.I'm sexually active with one partner and he too underwent treatment.Shortly after that i fell pregnant which i havent been able to achieve in 5years though not actively trying to concieve but i had an abortion(which i regret) ever since then,i keep having dull aches at my lower right abdomen.
Avatar f tn My question is, would I still have dormant Chlamydia/PID in me which caused my infertility and if so, could antibiotics kill them? Is the damage from PID to my tube reversible? Many thanks for your kind advise. I do not have enough cash right now to seek a gynae hence my question here. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Hi!just looking for some advice! I recently had vaginal swabs taken which tested positive for Bacterial Vaginitis and Chlamydia!!! I took the relevant antibiotics (Zithromax 1g and a course of metronidalzole for a week). I finished these three and a half weeks ago. I should prob point out that my diagnosis was quite a surprise as I wasn't experiencing any symptoms. However, about a week ago I started to experience 'symptoms'!
Avatar f tn i was diagnosed PID a week to my menses.. I was put on doxycycline, rocephin and metronodazole for two weeks... Am 5 days late..
