Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram mri

angiogram

Avatar m tn What kind of biopsy? What about an angiogram? Would that be a regular angiogram or would the dr. have to go in the small artery or vessel and how would they know what vessel or artery to go in thru since it's a small artery or vessels.
1213000 tn?1280463161 On May 19, after a MRI stress test was abnormal and an angiogram showed diffuse restonosis of the LAD stents, I underwent CABG (4X). 10 weeks later, another abnormal MRI stress test and on 30 July another angiogram. the results of thst angiogram was, all stents are now closed, all grafts are open but there is flow irregularities that may be caused by size mismatch between the vein grafts and the native arteries. This is being treated with Metprolol 25 mg and Diltiazem 120.
1213000 tn?1280463161 53 y.o male. In January of this year (2010), I had 4 drug eluting stents placed in the LAD. A week later two more stents, one in the RCA, one in the Ramus. On May 19, after a MRI stress test was abnormal and an angiogram showed diffuse restonosis of the LAD stents, I underwent CABG (4X). Now, 10 weeks later, another abnormal MRI stress test and tomorrow another angiogram to see what's up. What IS up, I wonder?
Avatar n tn A carotid MRI showed that I have about 50 percent blockage. A stress test revealed an abnormal EKG, with about a 4mm drop in the curve between the pulses. I have a history of high cholesterol and am currently on a cholesterol reducing medication as well as a medication to reduce blood pressure. I was offered several options as the next step and opted for a CT angiogram.
Avatar m tn There is a difference between an angiogram and angioplasty. Angiogram is a diagnostic procedure! Angioplasty is therapeutic meaning treatment. Usually, or almost always the diagnostic procedure (angiogram) is performed before there is treatment.
Avatar f tn can anyone help explain what my MRI/MRA scan results mean:While no definitive aneurysmal dilatation of the intracranial vasculature is evident, there is subtle suggestion of potential fenestration of the M1 segments bilaterally, left slightly more conspicuous than the right. There is no evident hemodynamically significant stenosis or high flow vascular malformation. The dural venous sinuses demonstrate normal flow-voids.
847433 tn?1243009652 I had an MRI done about a month before the surgery along with a cerebral angiogram about a week after the MRI. I do have a picture of the aneurysms from the MRI which I could show you but I don't think I can attach it to this message. The MRI was very clear showing the aneurysms but the angiogram was 100% better, it showed them in a 3D kind of way. If you would like me to send you the MRI pictures, let me know where to send them and I would be happy to do it.
Avatar n tn Not to be critical as I beleive Lutheran meant to say cath angiogram. Both cath or CT angiogram use contract dye to view perfusion, and that procedure is the definition of angiogram. A CT scan 64/128 views the anatomy of the 4 main heart vessels and will show any soft plaque between the linings of the vessel as well as any plaque buildup in the lumen. The cath angiogram views the lumen for the plaque that narrows and obstructs blood flow causing angina (chest pain).
Avatar n tn I'm having a CT angiogram Thursday. It avoids an interventional procedure that has some risk. X-ray exposture presents some risk for cancer, but my non-interventional cardiologist feels a CT angiogram is sufficient and I'm not disputing his recommendation. I had a cath angiogram and a stent 4 years ago, there was no problem as I was in a hospital setting for 3-4 days. However, some people experience a bleeding problem at the site of the cath insertion and pain that lasts several days.
17389007 tn?1456248518 Do you mean to say that you do not want to have the angiogram or that an angiogram can not be done because of the risk?
Avatar f tn My son in law had a bleeding aneurysm they put in a shunt and took him to angiogram. They couldn't find where it was. I know even a clotted aneurysm should be coiled.
Avatar n tn My father is going in for an angiogram. The cardio MD said that he is very conservative and that unless the tests indicate there is a blockage of 80% or more, he wouldn't recommend the stent insertion. This percentage sounds high before action is taken. Your opinion? In lieu of stents, would medication such as the stations and beta blockers be appropriate or other treatments? Thank you. Kathy.
Avatar m tn Will a MRI or CT without contrast pick up a brain aneurysm? I have no family history of this condition.. I am worried going for a MRA today just to calm my nerves without contrast can anyone help ?
Avatar f tn I also would like to know what kind of questions I should ask when I do see him, any suggestions would be appreciated. It has took longer than I thought to get over having the angiogram. Also would the angiogram show up anything except what is in the blood vessels?
4186651 tn?1357830957 Doctors diagnose the condition by ruling out atherosclerosis and looking for certain typical imaging signs through CT-angiogram, angiography, color dopplar, and MRI. Hope this helps. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Avatar m tn I've been having localized headaches for 6 months now, and they are very sharp and intermittent at times, and just dull in nature at other times. I seen a Doc yesterday for it and he did a full physical exam, eye's, ears, and everything, and said all looked good. He ordered me to have a Head MRI and MRA, mainly to have my fears of anuerysm or tumor ruled out. My question is what is an MRA?? I know what an MRI is but have no clue about an MRA? Has anyone had one done? whats it like?
Avatar f tn I have made up my mind that I am going to have the EEG done Monday and if they find nothing to explain anything, I am demanding another MRI or an angiogram. This is just not something to be swept under the rug. And I am NOT crazy, which is what they have all made me feel like for almost a year now. This kind of passing patients around is what causes people to die. I know first hand. I just buried my father0in-law one month ago due to complications from a hip surgery...
649926 tn?1297657780 Then 18 months ago loss of fine motor skills and balance, memory and all tests were positive for MS spinal tap, MRI had several enhancing lesions and blood work positive. I have had 2 relapses on copaxone and now my MRI of the brain is stable for 6 months but my symptoms are not so my Dr. is sending me for a cerebral angiogram and wants to re-evaluate the M.S diagnosis. Could all of these symptoms / tests be one disease and if not what are your thoughts like why the angiogram?
Avatar f tn They found a 4mm carotid aneurysm in my scan last week. I am to get a CT Angiogram Wed and then see the neurosurgeon in August. I am on coumadin due to a blood clot in my sagittal sinus (reason why they found the aneurysm) from 2009. Was just wondering if someone has been through this process before and what I need to expect.
Avatar m tn There are angiogram tests that inject a dye substance in the blood stream and the perfusion can be monitored by CT scan, cath, MRI. I had a CT scan a couple of years ago, and the report of the results commented on the blood flow through the implanted stent was as expected. Blood flow through the harvested grafts can be assessed as with any other vessel. Hope this answers your question. If you have any other questions or comments you are welcome to respond.
Avatar f tn why would a MRI show a 60% in the left renal artery but the catherazation show nothing
Avatar n tn Is there something else that they could have missed? I had an MRI which revealed an increased signal intensity in the periventricular white matter of the right posterior temporoparietal lobe. The findings were felt to be non-specific in appearance and were thought to possibly represent an area of gliosis or infarction or an area of demyelination. I'm hoping you can help me with this!
848718 tn?1257138801 What kind of angiogram are you having? Is it the non-invasive type via MRI or CT? Or is it the super invasive kind where they put a catheter in an artery in your groin and go all the way up to your brain? My layman's opinion is that *I* would probably do the MRI/CT variety for a family history, but I wouldn't want to do the invasive type without some symptoms or something showing up on a scan to make my doctors believe I really might have one. Good luck!!
Avatar m tn There are in my opinion much better tests that a CT scan or MRI to determine if there is arterial blockages. She should consider as a first step a nuclear stress test, and if it shows a problem an angiogram would pinpoint the problem. I have had a lot of problems with cholesterol and a CAT scan or MRI was never recommended. Keep us posted.
Avatar n tn My recent MRI of my brain found mild T2 and Flair signal changes in the perivenricular white matter and subcortical white matter compatible with minimal chronic microvascular ischemic disease. What does this mean?
Avatar n tn 2011 she got admitted in hospital for neuro stroke, now dr suggested to take mri angiogram of brain.these are findings of mri angiogram of brain 1)Lacunar infarcts in bilateral subcortical frontal, parietal & occipital white matter.2)Acute infarct in left ACA territory.3)Diffuse cerebral & cerebellar atrophy.4)Occluded right ICA with reformation of MCA by PCOM.5)Atheromatous disease in left M1 with reduced calibre of M2/M3 and focal narrowing at M2.
