Angiogram for gi bleed

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram for gi bleed

angiogram

Avatar m tn There must have been some kind of vessel weakness/damage for it to bleed. Perhaps your best plan would be to keep your blood pressure in the normal range, or better still, low normal. Any other vessels heading for the same problem would have a much greater chance to recover. Maybe a reason they didn't intervene is that the bleed was too too deep in the brain and the artery was too small for stenting etc ?

Avatar f tn I had a LAD Stent placement and placed on plavix and 80mg Lipitor, within 2 days no energy, BP low,and black diarrea, been hospitalized 5 x for Gi bleed.and always put back on plavix Dr says I have to be on it for 1 year because of type of stent.
Avatar f tn I was hospitalized for a GI bleed from a gastric ulcer which caused acute blood anemia about 4 weeks ago. After I was discharged I started to feel better and get my energy back after 2 weeks. (I received 2 units of blood in the hospital). But, in the past week I have increasing started to get fatigued and only able to do limited min. activities. I also get easily short of breath when I exert too much.
Avatar f tn I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
Avatar n tn I had a CT angiogram for heart this week. Compared to a regular angiogram or catheterization , the CT angiogram can be considered a noninvasive procedure. However, in your dad's case the CT angiogram may also be considered risky because of kidney problems. His kidneys may not be able to deal with the dye used for CT angiogram. I am not a doctor so here I am just giving advice based on my on experience.
Avatar f tn My husband was found to have trace varices and was put on a beta-blocker medication called nadolol (there are several different types) to help control portal hypertension that promotes varices. He has not had any bleeds so far. If the varices are significant enough cause you to be at risk for bleeding, doctors can perform a procedure called banding to prevent the varices from rupturing. Doctors should not be waiting for a bleeding episode before treating.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the advice. I go in next week for an angiogram to rule out a dural fistula. Hope it gets ruled out!
Avatar n tn I have undergone with angiogram .It was reported two block on is 70% & the other is 95% by the consultant and suggested for angioplasti.
Avatar m tn I have had 5 different conflicting reports about what was to happen regarding Coumadin, ranging from total d/c, to hold for 1 week, to hold for 1 day, to resume. TPA was withheld after this stroke, because of GI bleed. Why would it have been OK to give TPA last year after an upper GI bleed when many units of blood were needed, but it was NOT OK for TPA this stroke following colitis with trace blood? Why would Coumadin have been held at all after the colonoscopy?
Avatar m tn Thanks for answering so quick, they said fluid in lungs maybe, had a stress test, cadio lite, upper GI,ekgs, blood work he said he would prefer not to do a angiogram because of the die., cardio lite tests he said showed nothing overly major???
Avatar f tn I am a post bleed survivor. In November 2013 I suffered from a ruptured pica aneurysm. I underwent surgery where the aneurysm was clipped. I am 39 years old. Since the surgery, I am always tired, but I know that this is part of recovery. My question is, are the other symptoms normal. I have shooting pains in my head. Some days they are in the back of my head, some days they are the top of my head. There is no rhyme or reason. I feel dizzy often and my head feels very heavy.
Avatar f tn My score is actually only half of what your fathers is - so I am somewhat in the same boat minus the Statins, however, and I am thinking of also getting an Angiogram. The score for my LAD alone is 783 and I told my doctor (not a cardiologist): "I want the Angiogram, but I don't want them to stent anything for fear of damaging the artery because of all that hard Calcium Phosphate plaque". They might not anyway, but better save then sorry.
Avatar m tn Medical background for GI problems. November 1994 Upper GI Bleed from me chewing Aspergum, tested me for HIV and I was positive. Year 2000 Upper GI Bleed, 8 blood transfusions duodenum ulcer. Feb 2010 Upper GI Bleed. I've had GERD a long time, taken Proton Pump Inhibitors for years and I have it under control.
Avatar f tn Finally had an angiogram where they found my LAD was bridged. They put a stent in and I was fine for a while. Now I am having symptoms again(they don't seem to be the same as before). I am wondering if it isn't something GI from the meds and probably even more likely just anxiety this time. Wondering what they did to treat your bridged artery and if there were any complications after.
Avatar f tn He was going to suggest waiting 6 months for another MRI and I said that was too long. He has no idea or explanation why I am having the symptoms in my face and head. I find it really hard to believe that this is not at all somehow related. There is never one single moment of my day where there is not pain, aching, headache, burning or tingling/shocking going on in the left side of my face and head.
Avatar m tn For the past five years she took as much as 20 tablets a day. She just got out of the hospital for the second time this month diagnosed with a GI bleed. On admission her hemoglobin was at 6.0. During the past three weeks she's had 6 units of blood and is still bleeding and will continue to bleed for some time. Mom's stomach was destroyed due to Advil abuse and will likely never be the same again.
359574 tn?1328360424 Thanks. The only thing it could do on its own would be if a ridiculously lucky piece of plaque would lodge inside of it and start a clot that filled it in. In fact, that is what the interventional radiologists do on purpose when they are able to coil them--form a platinum clot inside the aneurysm so blood can no longer go inside of it and cause it to expand. Dissolving would be a bad thing. That's a hole and a brain bleed.
Avatar f tn If you seem to be losing a significant amount of blood I urge you to seek medical attention of some kind. a GI bleed even from a hemorrhoid can be dangerous to your health if not treated.
Avatar f tn It’s more dull and annoying. A little background. Last month I had a kidney stone and a near fatal upper GI bleed. I passed the kidney stone about 2 weeks ago. I recently, in addition to the pelvic pain started feeling fullness in my bladder. In the last month I’ve had 2 X-Rays and 3 CT scans- one with contrast. Aside from the kidney stone everything was normal including the pelvic area(no mass etc).
Avatar f tn * ELEVATED D DIMER TEST RESULTE BUT CLEAR CT ANGIOGRAM. All other exams clear like GI or BLOOD TESTS. They’ve already scanned my brain to my stomach. All except spine. Pain does spread to my spine and back.
Avatar f tn I have been vomitting blood for the last 48 hours. I have had endoscopy done but no one can find where the bleeding is stemming from within my stomach. I was given the option that, their is a lot of pressure build up in my spleenic vein, hence the varices that have formed in the stomach and have had angiogram procedure done to plug my spleenic artery, in order to relieve pressure and blood build up.
Avatar m tn For some insight, the circumflex and LAD branch away from the left main artery (a "Y" on its side if you will). Usually, a stress test is given prior to angioplasty, and a decision may be made at that time for the appropriate treatment. Only your doctor can answer why the angioplasty was terminated prior to implanting a stent! Are you taking medication for your chest pain? What are your symptoms other than chest pain? Why is medical therapy not included as an option.
Avatar f tn The Nitro you had would have worn off easily by now, and you have also had a lot of anti coagulant meds for your angiogram. The standard here in the uk is around 600mg of Plavix. This could have weakened a clot. Never underestimate symptoms after a procedure. Five years ago a family member of mine ignored a headache he had on/off for 24 hours and suffered a stroke. They said if he had gone to the Doctor, it could have been prevented.
Avatar m tn As an example, my nuclear scan showed excellent results, but I had already had an angiogram. My angiogram showed a completely blocked LAD and a blockage in my LCx. My right artery was also totally blocked halfway down. Collateral vessels played a huge role. The amount of radiation used is not that high and risks are low.
