Avatar f tn Blood test all came back pretty normal, went to restroom there and was just geled blood. They took sample, tested was negative for e coli, etc. Much discomfort in left lower back and abdomen. 2 days after leaving hospital still a lot of blood in stools and pain. Had a colonoscopy 7 months ago. 1 pre cancer polyp removed but everything else was good. What is wrong with me.
459632 tn?1206391645 About three years ago he was admitted to the hospital for three days with lower abdominal pain in the colon area. It was a blinding pain and the ER doctor ran CT Scans of his pelvis, abdomen with contrast and said they found nothing. I review the radiologist results and it states he has Mesenteric Adenopathy Medial to the Cecum. No thickening of the wall of the bowel, etc. My brother was discharged after four days with no answers and no treatment plan.
Avatar f tn I had a LAD Stent placement and placed on plavix and 80mg Lipitor, within 2 days no energy, BP low,and black diarrea, been hospitalized 5 x for Gi bleed.and always put back on plavix Dr says I have to be on it for 1 year because of type of stent.
Avatar f tn I was hospitalized for a GI bleed from a gastric ulcer which caused acute blood anemia about 4 weeks ago. After I was discharged I started to feel better and get my energy back after 2 weeks. (I received 2 units of blood in the hospital). But, in the past week I have increasing started to get fatigued and only able to do limited min. activities. I also get easily short of breath when I exert too much.
Avatar f tn My husband was found to have trace varices and was put on a beta-blocker medication called nadolol (there are several different types) to help control portal hypertension that promotes varices. He has not had any bleeds so far. If the varices are significant enough cause you to be at risk for bleeding, doctors can perform a procedure called banding to prevent the varices from rupturing. Doctors should not be waiting for a bleeding episode before treating.
Avatar f tn Rule out hypertension as the cause for nasal bleed and hypertension. If these are excluded check anemia, stress and temporal arteritis. A brain tumor needs to be checked for if any associated nausea, dizziness, weakness of part, slurring of speech etc is present. Cerebral aneurysm, head injuries are other infrequent causes of headache. You should consult a neurologist who would investigate these with blood tests, MRI and cerebral angiography if required and treat the cause as required.
Avatar m tn I have had 5 different conflicting reports about what was to happen regarding Coumadin, ranging from total d/c, to hold for 1 week, to hold for 1 day, to resume. TPA was withheld after this stroke, because of GI bleed. Why would it have been OK to give TPA last year after an upper GI bleed when many units of blood were needed, but it was NOT OK for TPA this stroke following colitis with trace blood? Why would Coumadin have been held at all after the colonoscopy?
Avatar f tn I just returned from the specialist where I had a full exam with a fluorescein angiography. The specialist said she can see the spot but there are no lesions and the bleed is inactive, so her working diagnosis right now is white dot syndrome with retinal hemorrhage and nevus of choroid of the left eye. She wants me to return in a week. I am really confused about what white dot syndrome is? Is there any treatment? Will the vision in my left eye ever return to normal?
Avatar m tn Medical background for GI problems. November 1994 Upper GI Bleed from me chewing Aspergum, tested me for HIV and I was positive. Year 2000 Upper GI Bleed, 8 blood transfusions duodenum ulcer. Feb 2010 Upper GI Bleed. I've had GERD a long time, taken Proton Pump Inhibitors for years and I have it under control.
Avatar m tn For the past five years she took as much as 20 tablets a day. She just got out of the hospital for the second time this month diagnosed with a GI bleed. On admission her hemoglobin was at 6.0. During the past three weeks she's had 6 units of blood and is still bleeding and will continue to bleed for some time. Mom's stomach was destroyed due to Advil abuse and will likely never be the same again.
Avatar f tn If you seem to be losing a significant amount of blood I urge you to seek medical attention of some kind. a GI bleed even from a hemorrhoid can be dangerous to your health if not treated.
Avatar f tn It’s more dull and annoying. A little background. Last month I had a kidney stone and a near fatal upper GI bleed. I passed the kidney stone about 2 weeks ago. I recently, in addition to the pelvic pain started feeling fullness in my bladder. In the last month I’ve had 2 X-Rays and 3 CT scans- one with contrast. Aside from the kidney stone everything was normal including the pelvic area(no mass etc).
Avatar n tn Black stool usually means there is some bleeding somewhere in the GI tract. See a GI doc ASAP !!! Drinking alcohol with Hep C can cause cirrhosis which can cause varices that bleed.
Avatar f tn Well, I am not a doctor but, as I have had several angiographic procedures, give you my opinion anyway. This procedure is very quick, almost painless and gives the best information about the blockages of the heart. In many cases, the blockage is repaired with a stent during the same procedure. The whole procedure will take about one hour.
Avatar n tn My mom is in the hospital for a GI bleed from cirrhosis and is hallucinating really bad (probably withdrawals from only quitting drinking the night of her GI bleed). They aren't giving her any medication to help her sleep or relax. Is this the right thing to do.
Avatar f tn I hope by now you have gotten some type of care for this. It seems like you have a serious GI bleed and need to be seen right away to find the source of the bleed in your GI tract and have it addressed right away!
Avatar m tn I went for an angiography which reported a 100 percent occluded lcx from the mid section with other arteries and the heart being normal. The ejection fraction after a test was found 65%. I am on beta blocker ever since with clopodrigel and a statin, Lipitor 10mg and my lipid profile in repeated tests is well within the normal limits.I can walk and climb stairs, however, if I climb stairs swiftly I do get out of breath as I am also on a heavier side.
Avatar f tn s being a complete a**hole right now (for doing this to you and himself) if he thinks he can still drink. My GI bleed came almost 4 months after the initial diagnosis, so watch out. Sorry I'm being harsh, but he has such a good chance of really returning to a pretty normal and so much happier life if he can let go of his 'mistress'. Let me know!! I want updates!
Avatar m tn the dementia he may be showing could be from metabolic encephalopathy , secondary to the gi bleed...The blood is metabolized in the intestines as a very high protein source, a bi-product of this increased serum Ammonia levels..It would be the toxic ammonia levels that are responsible for the dimentia. This would possibly stop after resection (as long as thats the only cause). You're going to have to carefully weigh what you think would be his opinion were he to have a clear mind.
Avatar m tn Troponin T and Troponin I are accurate and are only released by cardiac muscle. If elevated, then they usually suggest angiography because there is a very high possibility that MI has occurred. Troponin also remains elevated for up to 14 days. Should you go for Angiography? Given the results of the test, I think the question is really "is it worth the risk not to have angiography".
Avatar n tn Actually yesterday only we got reports for CT Angiography, in which it says that her right artery is about 95% blocked. and both her left arteries are 50% and 25% blocked respectively. Docs say that CT Angiography is just an idea of heart. However, to get a complete picture, they suggest to go for regular angiography with piercing the vein in wrist and putting the wire. Is it right that the CT Angiography isnt very accurate? Is there any better test than the regular angiography also?
