Avatar m tn I am a male 70 years of age. I have been on 150mg Irbesartan and 5mg Amlodipine daily since October 2010. This controlled by BP within acceptable limits. Since late April, however, the systolic has risen to an average of around 150. My doctor wants me to add a beta blocker to the other medications. Since last October my heart rate was averaging below 60. Since late April it is averaging around 70.

Avatar n tn I was just prescribed amlodipine for my gastritis how ever I can't seem to find any info about it being helpful for that. All the info I have found is about blood pressure. Is this a common prescription? Should I be concerned if I already have low blood pressure?
Avatar n tn The forum does not suggest any medication nor recommend any medication for any cardiovascular disorders, etc. I believe your opinions are more in the pharmacological domain.
Avatar m tn I was on Losartan 50mg which was working fairly well then the nephrologist suggested I switch to Amlodipine 2.5 mg. which he says is better for creatinine levels. I had been taking Amlodipine for a few weeks and BP rose. Doctor has increased to 5 mg. Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
Avatar m tn Some references said that cilnidipine 10 mg is equivalent to amlodipine 5 mg tablet. Is there any article/journal regarding this dose??
Avatar n tn Hi. I have had high blood pressure for years. Like really high -- 190+over 90 very often. So I'm working on taking medication but I have a question about amlodipine. I start with Lisinopril 40mg, but my doctor added amlodipine. It helps but my ankles and legs swell up really bad. Thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. thanks.
Avatar n tn My wife is taking high blood pressure medication, Amlodipine BESYLATE, and wants to get back to using St Johns Wort, which helped her depression tremendously. Is there ANY high blood pressure medication that'll work? Thank you for your time and help.
Avatar m tn I'm in the Philippines and have run out of my medicine for high blood pressure. I've been on Triamterene 37.5 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg. I'm low on funds and don't have the money to buy more medicine. A friend of mine from China mailed me some Levamlodipine 2.5 mg and some Hydroclorithiazide 25 mg (maybe mispelled) tablets to take. Should I take two of the Levamlodipine tablets to make 5 mg?
Avatar m tn Won’t the sudden stop of using amlodipine and propranolol bring problems; I thought they would just reduce the medication cause this is what I ultimately want, reduction of these meds until I stop using completely?
Avatar m tn I was prescrbed metoprolol 50mg and amlodipine 5mg. I have been taking this medine for a year. I have been regularly checking my BP ever since. It comes to 130/75mm/hg within a month. Avatar f tn Now all of the sudden my U1-RNP is considered normal at 60? I have not been on any medication this far except vitamin D 50,000 and amlodipine 10mgs 1 per day. I've been having severe muscle weakness. My dr. sent me to a vascular dr. To have a muscle biopsy done. I'm wondering if this weakness is from MCTD or the amlodipine. I also wonder if the amlodipine can cause a positive u1- RNP, I've heard lupus test can become positive due to certain medications. Any thoughts on this?
Avatar f tn 3) Indicatively, how many percent risk reduction of hitting CVD and kidney problems can be achieved by lowering my BP using medication along with lifestyle adjustments? If the percentage is really low, is it worth taking medication? I would appreciate if you could enlighten me with your professional opinion. Thank you very much for your understanding and help. I look forward to hearing from you!
20003202 tn?1488258062 (stopped working), now just Amlodipine 10 mg. Since taking the Amlodipine 10 mg. for about a week, my blood pressure keeps going higher and higher. Today readings were between 160/90 - 165/125. Also, my lower legs are sore, I have dizziness and feel light-headed, and are extremely lethargic. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel? Avatar m tn My BP was well-controlled on 100 mg Losartin and 7.5 mg Amlodipine, averaging around 125/68. At peak exertion, during a treadmill stress test recently, my systolic BP reached 215. My cardiologist subbed 5 mg Nebivolol for the Amlodipine due to what he described as exercise-related hypertension. I took this medication for a week and experienced a range of unpleasant side effects, including exhaustion, significant depression and reduced heart rate (mid-60s, compared with my normal mid-80s).
Avatar m tn I have a question about high blood pressure medication. I found out two years ago that I have high blood pressure. I also suffer with ocd. I was put on lisinopril and amlodipine. Ever since I started taking these medications my ocd has been totally out of control. There are rituals and image problems that I have never had before and it's really getting worse. Does anyone here have anxiety problems along with HBP and the medications have made them worse?
Avatar m tn Are there any complications taking this medication for hypertension? I hear that it is bad to take medication because your body gets used to it. I am a 24 year old male, 6 foot tall weighing at 333 lbs. So im assuming it is my weight that is causing my blood pressure to be so high. Are there any tips besides daily exercise for reduction in blood pressure? Do i have to take medication forever or stop as soon as i get to a normal BP with a change in my dietary habits and weight issue?
Avatar m tn Have been on amlodipine and quinapril for about 6-7 years as well as other meds. My blood tests came back fine except for my RDW which is elevated. My NT-ProBNP was only at 6 pmol/L so very low. The Cardiologist immediately ruled out coronary disease - he said I was too young (40yrs old). Said it could be Atypical Angina that was causing the chest pain but no way to test accurately due to my age and said he he could not tell me it wasn't PAH.
Avatar f tn My doctor has just changed my medication from Amlodipine to Ramipril 4 weeks ago. My dose has increased from 2.5 to 5.0 My blood pressure is lower in the morning and evening generally but recently has been erratic. I have headaches, feel nauseous, tired and have chest discomfort. Avatar n tn The fact that the side effect is not common does not mean that what you feel is not related to the medication. I cannot really say if the medication is causing you the problem or not. However if you feel that your neuropathy worsens with the medication, specially after doing the trial of going off the medication and seeing the symptoms improve, I think you should discuss this issue with your doctor, and consider changing the treatment. I hope you find this information useful.
