Avatar f tn Made a mistake. I meant to say, my feet and ankles will swell and not my legs.
Avatar m tn I have recently been prescribed Amlodipine-Benaz 5/10 MG capsules for treatment of hypertension. However, my resting pulse rate has consistently been in the 90's and increasing into the 100's at time, so I have been prescribed Carvedilol to help control the heart rate. My question is, doesn't Carvedilol control hypertension as well...Why should I be taking carvedilol in addition to amliodipine?
Avatar f tn Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker indicated for hypertension. The S form of amlodipine is said to be responsible for dilation of blood vessels and lowering of blood pressure. The S- isomer of amlodipine or Asomex® is being studied in clinical trials and may lead to side effects such as fatigue or tiredness, dizziness or fainting, headache, flushing, or swelling of the legs or ankles. Side effects of amlodipine are generally mild and reversible.
2191752 tn?1338280689 I'm on hypertension meds too. One side effect is dehydration therefore making sure you maintain a good intake of water is important and you won't get that cough or least, cough less. Make sure you speak to your Dr.

Avatar m tn Are there any complications taking this medication for hypertension? I hear that it is bad to take medication because your body gets used to it. I am a 24 year old male, 6 foot tall weighing at 333 lbs. So im assuming it is my weight that is causing my blood pressure to be so high. Are there any tips besides daily exercise for reduction in blood pressure? Do i have to take medication forever or stop as soon as i get to a normal BP with a change in my dietary habits and weight issue?
Avatar m tn My cardiologist subbed 5 mg Nebivolol for the Amlodipine due to what he described as exercise-related hypertension. I took this medication for a week and experienced a range of unpleasant side effects, including exhaustion, significant depression and reduced heart rate (mid-60s, compared with my normal mid-80s). I've been off the Nebivolol for five days, but I'm still experiencing these side effects. My heart rate has only come back to about 67-68.
Avatar f tn I have been contemplating whether to continue managing my hypertension using non-pharmacology techniques or to reinstate a recommended, first line mono therapy of 2.5 mg amlodipine by my doctor. I was diagnosed of hypertension about one year ago. I took 2.5 mg amlodipine daily at 8.00 pm without fail for three months until last July, 19, 2020.
Avatar m tn It all depends on the hypertension and how well controlled it is. Changes in the heart made by a known issue (hypertension, infections or tachycardia to mention a few) tend to normalize as the underlying condition is treated. The heart, like most organs, easily adapt to changed situations. In the case of hypertension, the heart walls grow to adapt to higher resistance. When such a change is no longer necessary, it often returns to normal.

Avatar f tn My mother currently taking nebivolol 5mg in morning and amlodipine/perindopril 5/8mg in evening for hypertension. Her blood pressure has recently been improved and taking both pills cause low blood pressure, she is also suffering from cough as a side effect from perindopril. I am considering to shift her to nebivolol only but 5 mg once a day is not controlling the blood pressure well. My question is can nebivolol be taken twice a day in 2.

Avatar m tn It seems to be fairly common with Hypertension that if it goes on for a while at those high levels, then the heart slowly begins to enlarge, function becomes impaired and with heart failure being part of the complications. I am no doc but generally the heart improves function in the months following the reduction in blood pressure. The prognosis should be good as long as things are closely monitored and the meds are continued as prescribed. The EF often gets better in time also.

20003202 tn?1488258062 (stopped working), now just Amlodipine 10 mg. Since taking the Amlodipine 10 mg. for about a week, my blood pressure keeps going higher and higher. Today readings were between 160/90 - 165/125. Also, my lower legs are sore, I have dizziness and feel light-headed, and are extremely lethargic. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel? Is there a cleaner medication with better results and less side effects. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am desperate....
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hypertension around 3 months ago. My blood pressure was around 155 over 110. I’m a 46 year old male and a regular drinker. I was put on 10/10mg perimdopral amlodipine tablets. My blood pressure seems to fluctuate from normal to high again and then normal. I went back to the dr who didn’t seem too worried. I can’t find any answers and going back to the drs will just result in the same issues. Feeling a bit lost and my anxiety is sky high because of this.
11419535 tn?1418065092 Thank you all that have shared your stories and journey with this disease. I'm wondering if anyone has dealt with hypertension with kidney failure? Harley's bp are high and he's on the highest doses of medication they can give him. Because of the hypertension and now a heart murmurs the vet feels that giving him subq fluids will do more harm than good. Has anyone else found a way to balance fluids with hypertension? His creatinine level is 3.
437325 tn?1205287210 I do not have this condition, but I was wondering if your doc had ruled out portal hypertension? Are you also abstaining from alcohol (sorry for being personal)?
20910642 tn?1627445346 Hi community, I am not a medical professional and I'm just here to look for a second opinion and any suggestions on what I can do, or what are the actions that I should take to reduce the probability that my Essential Hypertension causes any health issues in the future. Here is what I would like to know: 1. What is the "healthy" or acceptable blood pressure range that I should be getting (mid-day) given my considerations and circumstances mentioned below? 2.
Avatar n tn However, you did say the episode happened after your took the amlodipine besylate for the hypertension and anxit which is supposed to help relieve anxiety. The amlodipine besylate is not a new medication for you, is the anxit? It could be a reaction to the anxit but I doubt it. I still think you should see a neurologist.
