Also take Lactulose and Amitiza. However, in order to take the Amitiza must take a nausea pill before and after. Often times still have nausea with the Amitiza and not convinced it helps all that much. I've been at this for 8 yrs and have done everything but stand on my head. Without pills and powder - bowel movements are difficult and every 3-5 days. And only partial. EXTREMELY bloated. Have difficulty fitting into street clothes later in the day. Makes work life and social life difficult.
I am on milk of magnesia, amitiza, and dulcolax and my doctor wants me to try to get off the milk of magnesia. You can try using other medications for constipation to see if that works better. Amitiza is a new one out there but sometimes certain ones work better than others. Has your doctor ever mentioned abdominal migraines?
My daughter began amitiza and it has worked wonderfully, however, she is spotting in between periods. Is this common?
Hello All. I'm really new on the panel and I'm searching for help. In the last two weeks I have not been able to have a BM. My doctor gave me some samples of amitiza 24 mcg. I've been taken them 2 per day for the last 4 days - One at night and another in the A.M. With the 1st tablet I had a BM. I have not had another BM since. It doesn't seem that I'm having any normal digestive sounds or movements. I don't even have the urge to have a BM.
Have you tried taking magnesium citrate every morning? Have you tried Amitiza? I have not tried Linzess yet, but Amitiza is pretty good for me.
You could try taking walnut hull and wormwood preparation for parasites to see if that helps you.
I did and its been a month and it still hasnt healed. Having trouble with constipation and I am on amitiza. Any advice is welcome. As well, my doctor told me to take a stool softner twice a day to. Thinking about starting to eat soup.
I had an endoscopy and found out I have a large duodenal ulcer with partial outlet obscrtuction.Can I take Amitiza with this ulcer?I was supposed to have a colonoscopy but I couldn't get completely clear.I was put on a drug to help heal the ulcer and a proton pump inhibitor.I just want to know if it is safe to amitiza.I am on opiods so I need it.
And as long as I do not take constipation meds I do not normally have diarrhea. I can feel intestines they are tight hard like knotted rope. Often bm will continur for 24 -36hr until bowel seems empty. Though I doubt it is because I eat regularly since I was just diagnosed with diabetes.

Then I went another 6 days without a bowel movement, so I saw an internal medicine doctor who prescribed Amitiza for 5 days, Miralax, and Citracel. I have been on these 3 mild laxatives for 5 days. During each of the past 3 days I have expelled 1 golf-ball sized stool daily.
As for the constipation, try taking one capful (the little cup thing that comes with the bottle) of milk of magnesia every day. Talk to your GP about Amitiza, you might be a good canidate for that, as well. Not every constipation problem needs fiber as most people (and some doctors believe)-I did that for years and my problem continued. I laid off the fiber as directed by my gastroenterologist, took the Amitiza & m of m each night and my troubles were over.

SYMPTOMS: early satiety, nausea, trapped gas, and bloating, constipation and diarrhea. A battery of tests were done, including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy (hiatal hernia) esophageal motility (muscle doesn't work well), stomach emptying. All normal. DIAGNOSIS: My gastroenterologist came up with nothing Murilax and Amitiza.

Now my doctor has placed me on Misoprostol and so far these past 2 weeks haven't gotten better. I felt better before I seen a doctor and now I can barely go out at all. I have been thru many tests, colonoscopy, endoscopy(which ulcers were found) but were never treated. Blood work and catscans. Did the gole bladder test and everything else came out normal.

This pain is just there in the pit of my stomach a constant ache that will not go away or subside, it is a severe ache nor sharp nor dull that is there 24 hours. Had breast reconstruction over 10 years ago - TRAM flap with abdominal muscle. Digestion issues worsen every year. Physician prescribed Amitiza last year but now have to meet new-year deductible before I can benefit from manufacturer coupon. Symptoms now include increased, painful bloating, no burps, no flatulence and no bowel movement after about 5 days drinking only water. Usually fruit or juice will help but nothing is helping or happening. Suggestions welcome and encouraged.
I also have IBS-like symptoms where i vacillate between constipation and diarrhea, although the constipation is much more prevalent.
The bloating always begins after eating lunch and sometimes begins while I'm eating lunch. On the weekends, I usually end up sleeping so late that I only get 2 meals in, and my symptoms are barely ever present. I eat the same kinds of food for breakfast/dinner on the weekends that I do for breakfast/lunch/dinner on the weekdays, so I am totally confused.
