Amitiza on the fly

Common Questions and Answers about Amitiza on the fly

amitiza

Avatar n tn My daughter has been on Amitiza 8 mg but today it was increased to 24 mg because of chronic constipation. She is only 9 years old. I had to give her an enema and it didn't work. I can't figure out what keeps binding her up.
Avatar f tn Hi, I was just put on amitza and it is helping some, however, I am getting a headache from it along with nausea. I will continue it for a few days to a week and see how it goes. I will check out the ACOG Colon Cleanse though. I was on 8mcg of the amitiza first twice a day and it didn't help at all, now I am on the 24mcg twice a day and it seems to be helping, I have to be home though while taking it if you know what I mean? How are you since posting your message?
605458 tn?1539228808 This AM the nausea was so bad I called the GI group and was told to stop taking the Amitiza for a few weeks and that the most common side effect of the drug is extreme nausea and it should ALWAYS be taken on a full stomach. In it's place she put me on 3 Metamucil tablets each morning and 1 Colace, then 1 Colace at night. We are trying this for 2/3 weeks and then maybe ease back in to the Amitiza.
Avatar n tn Having said all of the above there is one difference I noticed with the Amitiza and that is the medication has greatly reduced the syncope episode I was having during a bowl movement which were occurring about once a month. Since I have been prescribed a Amitiza, which was about six months ago, I only had one syncope incident which by itself is a help to me. I hope my brief exegesis helps.
Avatar f tn I feel chained to the bathroom and of course never clean. Zelnorm was the beat solution and worked really well but then was taken off the market. What can I do to resolve this ever increasing problem?
Avatar m tn Actually, you said right thigh. Mine is in the left thigh. Constipation would tend to cause this in the left thigh more often than the right thigh. You need to have your abdomen examined. You might have a cyst or something over there, pressing on the anterolateral cutaneous nerve.
Avatar m tn I suffer from lupus, thalassemia, two different hyper coagulation issues (both genetic), hoshimoto's, rheynaud syndrome, chronic -- and I do mean chronic constipation! It is not abnormal for me to go 13-17 days apart. I stay distended and live with my heating pad on my tummy! I've had 8 colonoscopies in the past two years. Found three polyps all at different times, were removed. All cytology comes back negative for any pathological abnormality.
Avatar f tn the reason for the liver bx was because I had Hep-C from a blood transfunsion but the liver is on the other side as I was told that all that is on this side is my kidney and bowel. When pressing around the dr found the sensitive spot and said the bowel was irrated. DUH! I knew that I just need something to releif all this pain, pressure, bloating, constipation and gas. I get so sick that now I am not eating. I can hear the bowels gurgle but nothing.... Tired of this.
Avatar m tn Also take Lactulose and Amitiza. However, in order to take the Amitiza must take a nausea pill before and after. Often times still have nausea with the Amitiza and not convinced it helps all that much. I've been at this for 8 yrs and have done everything but stand on my head. Without pills and powder - bowel movements are difficult and every 3-5 days. And only partial. EXTREMELY bloated. Have difficulty fitting into street clothes later in the day. Makes work life and social life difficult.
Avatar n tn Had breast reconstruction over 10 years ago - TRAM flap with abdominal muscle. Digestion issues worsen every year. Physician prescribed Amitiza last year but now have to meet new-year deductible before I can benefit from manufacturer coupon. Symptoms now include increased, painful bloating, no burps, no flatulence and no bowel movement after about 5 days drinking only water. Usually fruit or juice will help but nothing is helping or happening. Suggestions welcome and encouraged.
2102085 tn?1350866645 I went to a gastroenterologist the next day and she thought it was IBS and prescribed me Amitiza and Bentyl. I have been on the Amitiza and it makes me have frequent watery BMs...and the Bentyl does not do much. The pain is constant and I feel like I'm pregnant I'm so bloated (I'm not!) could this really just be IBS? Could the pain be reproductive (i.e. ovarian cysts) I'm going to school for nursing and it is really interfering with my education...
Avatar f tn Im 32 weeks and will be moving to texas soon, is it safe for me to fly on the airplane ? Another question ... I have medical, & was wondering will I be able to get insurance in texas for my pregnancy .
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi Candy, I really don't know how common it is but I also have IBS that just keeps getting worse... I only have bowel movements once maybe twice a month... I know it's hard to believe but it's the truth.. Also, I used to never have bloating and pain in between those movements... But, in the last few months my stomach stays distended, I cramp until I double over, and nothing seems to help... My doctor said it's a combination of the MS and the medication...
Avatar f tn t get completely clear.I was put on a drug to help heal the ulcer and a proton pump inhibitor.I just want to know if it is safe to amitiza.I am on opiods so I need it.
Avatar n tn I did and its been a month and it still hasnt healed. Having trouble with constipation and I am on amitiza. Any advice is welcome. As well, my doctor told me to take a stool softner twice a day to. Thinking about starting to eat soup.
Avatar f tn Yes you are fine to fly in the 3rd trimester youashould be cleared by a doctor before doing so but you are still so early it's fine.
Avatar f tn Today is the 10th day post IVF transfer of 2 embryos. I peed on the stick and it came back with 2 lines. This is the second ivf cycle we have gone through. Blood test on 8/25. I screamed when I saw the results!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Hang in there everybody!
Avatar f tn Opiates will bind you up! Ask your Doc for "Linzess" or "Amitiza"....they aren't laxatives but you take them daily so you can go. I'm on opiates 10 yrs. now for a fractured hip and I use those meds. Remember, I'm NOT a doctor; this is just MY experience. Use Miralax, too.
Avatar f tn i have also tried going on flagyl (i dont know how to spell it but it kills the bad bacteria), prednisone (lost almost 10 pounds while on it because it made me so sick (its a steroid used for crohns)), and a pill for acid reflux i think it was pepcid or prevacid
Avatar f tn Very long story short, they told us they could give us what we wanted but when we went to sign everything the had failed to mention that we would be paying on it for 7 years! I went off!! I was so irritated that "failed to mention"that, that I just went off on them. We ended up getting the car and we pretty much met them half way, but after we left my husband was like "I was really proud of how you handled that!
Avatar m tn You do need to see a neurologist...I have almost the same pain as you and mine is caused by some spinal issues & peripheral neuropathy as well as fibromyalgia. As for the constipation, try taking one capful (the little cup thing that comes with the bottle) of milk of magnesia every day. Talk to your GP about Amitiza, you might be a good canidate for that, as well.
946915 tn?1271941032 Thanks and yes...I've had all the tests you mentioned above done. The only ones that showed anything was the CT scan showed a small kidney stone and the gastric emptying scan showed moderate to severe gastroparentsis. I need to work on the multiple smaller meals...I typically try to keep semi-healthy snacks at work and just eat dinner. I do try to eat low-fat...maybe I'm eating fiborous things and don't realize it. We tried amitiza and it did nothing...
Avatar f tn This condition may sometimes make having a colonoscopy difficult and in extreme cases may prevent the practitioner who is performing the colonoscopy from being able to examine the entire colon. If you are having bowel symptoms always tell your physician and let her/him decide the next step.
Avatar n tn i have similar problems. the thing that helped me the most was something called the specific carbohydrate diet, which is quite strict. i was on it for 5 months -- big improvement in digestion. however, i lost too much weight (i'm quite thin) and it was very incovenient for me. if you can commmit yourself to it, i would highly recommend it. also, water fasting has helped me in the past temporarily. i've done it from one day to about 4 days.
Avatar n tn This is on top of a strong oral medication (Amitiza) and magnesium. With Miralax, I get the stuff in the bottle and take 1 1/2 capfuls once a day and as needed.
