My daughter began amitiza and it has worked wonderfully, however, she is spotting in between periods. Is this common?

My doctor just started me on Amitiza last week following a colonoscopy that was fine. I also have had 2 CT scans; one without contrast and the other with contIrast and nothing showed up there. I had and still have a pain in my right lower abdomen. This AM the nausea was so bad I called the GI group and was told to stop taking the Amitiza for a few weeks and that the most common side effect of the drug is extreme nausea and it should ALWAYS be taken on a full stomach.

So many sales at target and Walmart ...fyi lol I've been buying clothes and small necessities like socks wash clothes sleepers shoes blankets etc. for under $5-$9 and I bought a GREAT stroller and car seat combo for $100 (Graco Spree Classic Connect) and a $59 pack and play with bassinet, napper, and changer...if you have any money to burn shop til you drop ladies ..

Hello All. I'm really new on the panel and I'm searching for help. In the last two weeks I have not been able to have a BM. My doctor gave me some samples of amitiza 24 mcg. I've been taken them 2 per day for the last 4 days - One at night and another in the A.M. With the 1st tablet I had a BM. I have not had another BM since. It doesn't seem that I'm having any normal digestive sounds or movements. I don't even have the urge to have a BM.

Have you tried taking magnesium citrate every morning? Have you tried Amitiza? I have not tried Linzess yet, but Amitiza is pretty good for me. You could try taking walnut hull and wormwood preparation for parasites to see if that helps you.

Also take Lactulose and Amitiza. However, in order to take the Amitiza must take a nausea pill before and after. Often times still have nausea with the Amitiza and not convinced it helps all that much. I've been at this for 8 yrs and have done everything but stand on my head. Without pills and powder - bowel movements are difficult and every 3-5 days. And only partial. EXTREMELY bloated. Have difficulty fitting into street clothes later in the day. Makes work life and social life difficult.

I did and its been a month and it still hasnt healed. Having trouble with constipation and I am on amitiza. Any advice is welcome. As well, my doctor told me to take a stool softner twice a day to. Thinking about starting to eat soup.

I went to a gastroenterologist the next day and she thought it was IBS and prescribed me Amitiza and Bentyl. I have been on the Amitiza and it makes me have frequent watery BMs...and the Bentyl does not do much. The pain is constant and I feel like I'm pregnant I'm so bloated (I'm not!) could this really just be IBS? Could the pain be reproductive (i.e. ovarian cysts) I'm going to school for nursing and it is really interfering with my education...

Hi Candy, I really don't know how common it is but I also have IBS that just keeps getting worse... I only have bowel movements once maybe twice a month... I know it's hard to believe but it's the truth.. Also, I used to never have bloating and pain in between those movements... But, in the last few months my stomach stays distended, I cramp until I double over, and nothing seems to help... My doctor said it's a combination of the MS and the medication...

I had an endoscopy and found out I have a large duodenal ulcer with partial outlet obscrtuction.Can I take Amitiza with this ulcer?I was supposed to have a colonoscopy but I couldn't get completely clear.I was put on a drug to help heal the ulcer and a proton pump inhibitor.I just want to know if it is safe to amitiza.I am on opiods so I need it.

I am on milk of magnesia, amitiza, and dulcolax and my doctor wants me to try to get off the milk of magnesia. You can try using other medications for constipation to see if that works better. Amitiza is a new one out there but sometimes certain ones work better than others. Has your doctor ever mentioned abdominal migraines?

As for the constipation, try taking one capful (the little cup thing that comes with the bottle) of milk of magnesia every day. Talk to your GP about Amitiza, you might be a good canidate for that, as well. Not every constipation problem needs fiber as most people (and some doctors believe)-I did that for years and my problem continued. I laid off the fiber as directed by my gastroenterologist, took the Amitiza & m of m each night and my troubles were over.

Long and twisted colon that tends to slow passage of stool and cause constipation that can be quite severe. I take Miralax and Amitiza for mine. They work, but are expensive - especially the latter.

While I know the FDA is cracking down on Internet sales of narcotics, I was just curious if many of you have purchased your drugs that route. It has been over a year since I bought meds online....tried to hide this from my hubby but he found out early on (How can you hide $600/month?) I can't believe how much money I have saved our family....wow...how selfish was I! This "drug money" could have covered the kids school tuition, car insurance and mortgage.....

There are a potload of jobs posted and available. Not for lower level sales, but Managed Care Liasons, Sales Managers, Marketing managers, etc, etc, etc. Many jobs in many markets. I wish my expertiese was in pharacology. I bet you could make some good money for awhile besides doing a good service. I didn't see any jobs offered in manufacture, so that must be being farmed out. Thanks and yes...I've had all the tests you mentioned above done. The only ones that showed anything was the CT scan showed a small kidney stone and the gastric emptying scan showed moderate to severe gastroparentsis. I need to work on the multiple smaller meals...I typically try to keep semi-healthy snacks at work and just eat dinner. I do try to eat low-fat...maybe I'm eating fiborous things and don't realize it. We tried amitiza and it did nothing...

Had breast reconstruction over 10 years ago - TRAM flap with abdominal muscle. Digestion issues worsen every year. Physician prescribed Amitiza last year but now have to meet new-year deductible before I can benefit from manufacturer coupon. Symptoms now include increased, painful bloating, no burps, no flatulence and no bowel movement after about 5 days drinking only water. Usually fruit or juice will help but nothing is helping or happening. Suggestions welcome and encouraged.

I have these bloated, distention, nausea, constipation (sometimes) for about 20 years. Colonoscopy and gastroenteroscopyn always show clear and fine. I was prescribed Amitiza 8 mg 2 years ago. There was a point that I felt ok for 3 months in a row recently. But unfortunately, it came back again. It really bothers my daily life and work. What should I do?

This looks like "official" matter. What meds are in question? Colonoscopy showed something? IBS is not a disease at all, and there's no drugs for IBS, as I know (my opinion). Zelnorm was even withdrawn from the (U.S.) market last year, now it might be back again.

Actually, you said right thigh. Mine is in the left thigh. Constipation would tend to cause this in the left thigh more often than the right thigh. You need to have your abdomen examined. You might have a cyst or something over there, pressing on the anterolateral cutaneous nerve.

This is on top of a strong oral medication (Amitiza) and magnesium. With Miralax, I get the stuff in the bottle and take 1 1/2 capfuls once a day and as needed.
