329994 tn?1301663248 I am hoping that someone on here has taken it and can tell me what they think. I am mostly concerned about the side effects of chest pain and shortness of breath. As a heart patient, I do not like those side effects. Any advice would be great. Thank you!
Avatar m tn m a 26-year old immigrant looking for guidance and help with my symptoms. As a teenager, I one time had horrible experience of chest pain during school and later found out it was tachycardia. Afterwards, I began to experience chest discomfort and 2-3 attacks a year. In thinking that heart ablation would treat the pain, I had surgery several years later. I no longer have tachycardia attacks but continued to develop main all over, basically starting from the chest down to the back and head.
Avatar n tn May seem silly but being a fully time student and working over full time, every minute is precious and let alone not being in pain all day, every day, I will give credit to Amitiza and would recommend it to anyone experiencing IBS. If anyone has any questions, I would be more then willing to answer them.
605458 tn?1539228808 My doctor just started me on Amitiza last week following a colonoscopy that was fine. I also have had 2 CT scans; one without contrast and the other with contIrast and nothing showed up there. I had and still have a pain in my right lower abdomen. This AM the nausea was so bad I called the GI group and was told to stop taking the Amitiza for a few weeks and that the most common side effect of the drug is extreme nausea and it should ALWAYS be taken on a full stomach.
Avatar n tn My daughter began amitiza and it has worked wonderfully, however, she is spotting in between periods. Is this common?
Avatar m tn Have you tried taking magnesium citrate every morning? Have you tried Amitiza? I have not tried Linzess yet, but Amitiza is pretty good for me. You could try taking walnut hull and wormwood preparation for parasites to see if that helps you.
Avatar n tn Now five years later my left side of my body stomach down is mildly numb and tingles with very bad spots of shooting pain and always some mild pain in the heal, inner foot, outer leg, hamstring in the butt and severe unexplained constipation (on Zelnorm ((until discontuned)), now Amitiza), and mild arm pain, chest pains etc. I also get very bad itching or tingling of the scrotum, left side only and anal itching or tingling, left side only.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Also, I used to never have bloating and pain in between those movements... But, in the last few months my stomach stays distended, I cramp until I double over, and nothing seems to help... My doctor said it's a combination of the MS and the medication... That sure doesn't help much... He put me on Amitiza which is for IBS but I can't tell that it's helped much... He did tell me today to up my dose so we will see how that goes...
Avatar m tn i feel pain in my right thigh immediately after i get up after using the toilet. it stays for some time & then goes away after some time when i get going for other works, but sometimes it stays for quite long. what should i do??
Avatar f tn I am a sixteen year old girl and i have been having stomach pain for about 9 months now. the pain is usually in the upper left side and radiates out. sometimes it feels like someone is squeezing my upper intestines and my rib feels like its popping in and out of place. my symptoms are weight loss, severe constipation, headaches, bloating, gas, and loss of appetite.
Avatar f tn I am not on any medication for the gastric distress they have described as epigastric pain. The last attact was sudden onset and quite severe. Not having a diagnosis at this point, I have concerns the pain will return. I've had mild abdominal pain for several months. I've lost more than 10 pounds since the symptoms worsened as my appetite decreased. Any suggestions for how to pursue a diagnosis at this point.
Avatar f tn Nope, no diabetes, just idopathic gastroparesis. My pain is in the sternum area of my chest, nausea symptoms, almost constant burning and yet I have no scar tissue. My brother and I had our gall bladders removed due to biliary dyskinesia; our gall bladders just were not functioning. My brother had a gall bladder test performed when he had his last gastric emptying test to see if there were any bile blockages post surgery but there were none.
Avatar f tn 2 to 99.9 that come and go as well as some intermittent pain in RLQ and pain under belly button.
Avatar m tn Also take Lactulose and Amitiza. However, in order to take the Amitiza must take a nausea pill before and after. Often times still have nausea with the Amitiza and not convinced it helps all that much. I've been at this for 8 yrs and have done everything but stand on my head. Without pills and powder - bowel movements are difficult and every 3-5 days. And only partial. EXTREMELY bloated. Have difficulty fitting into street clothes later in the day. Makes work life and social life difficult.
Avatar f tn Finally, it is also worth mentioning that I recently found out that my neck and spine have slight stenosis, and this is causing radiating pain in my left chest and down my left arm, although for some reason, I doubt that this is the cause of the pain I'm feeling.
Avatar n tn Had breast reconstruction over 10 years ago - TRAM flap with abdominal muscle. Digestion issues worsen every year. Physician prescribed Amitiza last year but now have to meet new-year deductible before I can benefit from manufacturer coupon. Symptoms now include increased, painful bloating, no burps, no flatulence and no bowel movement after about 5 days drinking only water. Usually fruit or juice will help but nothing is helping or happening. Suggestions welcome and encouraged.
1704915 tn?1357601254 I am 31 years old and have been suffering with GI problems for the last 6 years. They consists of terrible gas stomach aches, bloating (to the point I dont fit in my clothes and look pregnant), girggling/trapped air in my chest, chest pains and the worst of them all.. severe constipation (don't go for 2 weeks and when I do its rock hard and barely anything).
Avatar f tn GI/Liver specialist tells me the in pains that I am having are from IBS and if that was the case then why won't Medicare approve med that he has called in ,but rather see me in pain for the last 3 wks. I had a dr that skip this country and went back to Iran so I have no medical records what so ever. I have copies of the test of colonoscopy and EDG and Liver biopsy but that is it. I was treated for IBS back in 2005-2006 with Zelnorn and then Amitiza.
Avatar n tn I did and its been a month and it still hasnt healed. Having trouble with constipation and I am on amitiza. Any advice is welcome. As well, my doctor told me to take a stool softner twice a day to. Thinking about starting to eat soup.
Avatar n tn I have been constipated for most of my life--since my teens but it has been a lot worse for the past 5 years. I just can't go at all. It takes me two weeks to pass a small "dropping" and I know to avoid certain foods that cause me the worst pain because I simply can't digest them--such as pasta or bread. When I eat pasta or bread I need to be in a fetal position for hours from the pain. Last year I just about had it.
Avatar f tn I had an endoscopy and found out I have a large duodenal ulcer with partial outlet obscrtuction. Can I take Amitiza with this ulcer?I was supposed to have a colonoscopy but I couldn't get completely clear.I was put on a drug to help heal the ulcer and a proton pump inhibitor.I just want to know if it is safe to amitiza.I am on opiods so I need it.
Avatar n tn I have severe abdominal bloating/distention, rapid weight gain (put 25 pounds on in less than 2 weeks), stingy sensation up and down my lower legs (front) almost burning and my fingers tingle/feel swollen, fatigue (wake up tired, tired after eating, and sleep whenever not at work), waking up tired, muscle soreness, joint pain, nausea, and my stomach is warm to the touch and hurts.
974371 tn?1424653129 Has anyone taken this for IBS? Saw a doctor at Stanford yesterday fir a second opinion. I had been tested by another specialist I had rapid gastric emptying and was put on Prozac and low dose Clonidine. Can't say I noticed much of a difference in lower abdominal pain, bloating, stomach pain and nausea.
Avatar n tn After more than 30 years of pain, bloating and consipation I was just recently diagnosed with toreous bowel. Great, there's a name for it now. Is there help? Very little. My doctor prescribed a med that costs close to $90 a month and which is not covered under my medical plan. Even if I could get it-there's no way I can afford this), it is still no guarantee it would help.
Avatar f tn m having constant stomach aches and abdominal pain that is always on my left side. The abdominal pain got so bad one night I stayed up till 5 in the morning on the heating pad. I have them every day and I'm having them now as we speak. I also get really bad heartburn, to where it will make my throat burn and my chest and upper back hurt. 2 months ago he put me on Amitiza for constipation in women and for IBS-C. He also switched me back to Celexa.
