Common Questions and Answers about Ambien schedule

ambien

1274896 tn?1271218419 Hi All, Just got back from seeing my pain doc and am starting my official tapering schedule today. I will take 7 norcos a day for either 1 or 2 weeks - she left it up to me - I am going to try to make it just one week. Then 6 for 2 weeks, etc. I did not get a refill on my morphines - I would used them to "tide me over" when I ran out of my norco early. I did get a new script for Lunesta - never had it before, I've always used Ambien.
Avatar f tn Greetings, Due to a work schedule that fluctuates daily (like a flight attendant or pilot) and often requires that I go long periods of times without sleep I have developed a chronic insomnia condition. Honestly,a night I don't take my Ambien or Ambien CR is a night I don't sleep...period. It has been like this for several years and only appears to be getting to worst as my dependency on these medications solidifies.
Avatar f tn I took ambien and it helped me:)just be careful cause ambien can cause you to do weird things if you don't sleep!
Avatar f tn it needs to be tapered down. The ambien does as well. Check with your doctor for a tapering schedule. If this were me,I'd taper one at a time with the ambien first! Take care~ V.
Avatar m tn Hi my question is that I have a spouse on Ambien and has been taking it for about three years now and swears there is nothing else that will help them sleep but uses it to cope with life also if something goes wrong they go to bed and take an Ambien and sleep until they feel better about the problem does anyone have any suggestions as to how to handle something like this.
1690584 tn?1340297472 I have tried everything I can think of to help my insomnia and to get off the Ambien. Last week I did a sleep study (I took it upon myself to schedule) which showed no apnea or rls but still insomnia with ambien. The Dr didn't even want to see me but I really want help so I made them schedule me even though it is 2 1/2 hours away and I didn't even have enough gas to get there. The Dr said there's nothing I can do because it is some other reason causing it.
Avatar f tn over the past six months i have become increasingly dependent on all three. on nights that i drink i don't take anything till i wake up early morning and more often than not take 1/2 of .5 clonaz. to relax and get back to sleep. On nights that i don't drink i take ambien 10mg. i find that i can't sleep w/o it. aghhh The dr. precribed both ambien and clonazepam a while back when i began to have panic attacks and long bouts of insomnia.
Avatar m tn I have difficulty falling asleep and remaining asleep. I have been using both Ambien and Xanax for years. I would like to wean off Xanax completely. I recently ran out and after about 24 hours I began to feel ill, strange, hot and cold and suffered with a headache, backache and insomnia. I take between 2-3 mg daily. I would like to begin a realistic schedule to wean off completely, without suffering the side effects.
Avatar m tn says no naps - sleep during my regular sleep schedule, get my sleep schedule back to normal (should I be able to function with 6-7 hours of sleep and no naps during the day?). I've made good progress working through the things that cause me anxiety and stress, and have resolved most of them. Does anyone have any advice about what I can do to improve my automatic breathing response and become less aware of my breathing? Once my breathing returns to normal, I won't need the Ambien.
Avatar f tn I have been struggling with sleep since about week 8 or 9. My OB prescribed me Ambien to help. The RX had 20 in the bottle.. I finished in less than 30 days. Guessing about 23 days.. She inatructed me to take the meds for sleeplessness nights, but not every night, as the drug could possibly pass to the baby. I am no longer taking ambien and have been taking OTC Unisom. Which is safe during pregnancy. Even when taken at 8-9pm im still wide awake until 2-3 am. What can i do?
Avatar n tn Hello and thanks to those of you who have answered previous posts of mine. I was going back through my journal today looking at my step down schedule, and it's been nearly 10 weeks since I started weaning off of this monstrous drug. I have taken a mere 12 1/2 mg (1/4 tablet) twice daily for the last 2 days now, so I'm getting down to the very end of this nightmare.
Avatar m tn Some pertinent info is left unsaid in your post. Is this work schedule new for you? Are your sleep hours totally against your body's natural sleep cycle? If this all new and you don't adjust soon, you may need to consider finding a job more in line with your body clock. You won't be able to continue the job anyhow if you crash and burn, so don't wait for that. If this is a longstanding schedule that has worked for you but this insomnia is new, I'd see a doctor.
3203287 tn?1346456634 thank you for your response. Good to hear. I'm starting next week so I'm trying to figure out my schedule and review it with my doc on the day I start. He's reviewing the schedule with me to make sure I have thought it out well.. this site is fantastic and gives me so much information. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Hey all, I'm just looking for some input and opinions here. I just started a new job where I'm required to work 3 12 hour night shifts per week. It's really tough on my sleep schedule. Especially since I try to have a "normal" sleep schedule on my days off. Anyways, I never get a good night or day of sleep. I've tried melatonin, Benadryl, sleepy tea, exercising, you name it. I've taken ambien in the past with good results, and I have never abused this medication.
Avatar m tn I am very serious about getting off of ambien. I take 18mg every night (I take one tab, quarter another and take three quarters). Dr. said I could take 20mg, but not quite up to that dosage. I've been taking it for ten weeks. I need to get off of this stuff. Has anyone here done this? I can taper off my usage gradually, and I understand it will take a while. I'm looking for a tapering schedule, and advice in general. Basically what I'm getting myself into.
Avatar n tn I have been taking a much higher dosage of 10mg Ambien every day for months now and want to taper off. I cannot afford treatment, but waould like to know if there are doctors that can get mre on a tapering schedule so that it can be done medically safe.
1690584 tn?1340297472 I would definitely talk to your OB about the Ambien to determine if it is safe for you to continue taking. I know my cousin did have Ambien for a couple of nights when she was pregnant - however, she was in labor already, having a tough time of it and hadn't slept in a few nights, so her situation could be very different from yours since you are not as far along in your pregnancy as she was.
9055982 tn?1414980421 You can have ambien I take it sometimes not every night though....
Avatar f tn Im 31w and my dr recently prescribed me Ambien. When I went to pick it up the pharmacist was shocked and in disbelief that my doc would precribe me thi knowing I was pregnant. I really feel I need the help but dont want to harm my baby. I am assuming that the doctor wouldnt give me anything that would put my baby at risk. Has anyone else taken this drug while pregnant? How did it work for you?
1703392 tn?1307450500 I was feeling them in the evening and took an Ambien about 10pm which put me to sleep. Around 3am I awakened from a PVC and tried to get back to sleep, but kept getting woke up by them about every half hour. Got up very tired today. Very frustrating. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn do you get ambien or a schedule 2 med
491910 tn?1209366193 then 30...and so on until its 5 then jump off. I have ambien, rozerem scripts myself but stopped the ambien and made it a once a week or less thing because it can be bad news. You might want to see if the Dr will switch you to say lunesta and see if you can use that while getting off ambien or when you tapered low enough to jump and switch. Good luck.
1201433 tn?1328997637 Hi, I was on Lunesta for the entire tx and it worked great. Ambien comes in two forms one is extended ambien, do you know which one you are on? You should talk to your Dr about which one you are on.I took regular ambien long before tx and it didn't work too well for me either. Best of luck....
Avatar m tn I have been taking ambien almost night for 2 years.. I travel often and feel that I need it in order to maintian my and schedule. In the last few weeks I've I seem to be losing my short term memory, somethings I cant get words out correctlyl Holding a conversation with people I have known for a long time is a huge challenge when I lost in the middle of a sentance. Could this be an affect of ambien addtiction? If so, how do I get off of it?
Avatar f tn I wake up vibrating all over and also deal with frequent (around 30+ times a day) muscle spams all over but mostly focused in my legs. What could all of this mean? I'm only 20 years old. I'm overweight. I do not smoke or drink and I stay away from caffeinated beverages. I have a lot of stress due to school but nothing I can't handle. I do take a sleep aid, the generic of Ambien, Zolpidem 10 mg each night for an episode of insomnia.
Avatar f tn Thank you everyone.
