allergies

Avatar m tn This can cause bloating of stomach and consequent breathlessness. Check with your doctor for adequate control of asthma. Ventolin or salbutamol is a rescue inhaler, that means you take this when you have an episode of Asthma. There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar f tn Your daughter will start on a higher dose, in order to control the asthma. Once her asthma is in control, your doctor will find the lowest dose necessary to control her symptoms. There are many ways you can help to control her symptoms is by removing any environmental triggers she may have. Has she had allergy testing yet? Let us know how it goes with her treatment.
Avatar m tn Hello, My question is the following. A couple of months ago my fiance and I got a cat, the first day I had an allergic reaction immediately, red eyes, sneezing and nasal congestion.
Avatar m tn Identifiing and controlling trigger exposure is the most beneficial control, but many people do require some sort of medicinal control like allergy medicine or inhaled steroids. Some people require more than that. Either parent having asthma (or allergies) increases a child's risk of asthma. It doesn't matter if it is the mother or the father. The increased risk is identical for either parent having asthma. If both parents have asthma (or allergies), the risk increases even more.
Avatar f tn When I was about 3 years old I had really bad asthma and needed to be hospitalized in order to control it. My mom says that the meds the gave me never seemed to work but the asthma eventually calmed down on it's own. As I grew up the asthma was less noticable. I think that from the time I was about 14 until I was 30 I hardely ever had asthma or needed to use an inhaler.
Avatar n tn If the asthma persists despite good control of the reflux, the avoidance of cats and dogs and good asthma therapy, you might then want to inquire about skin tests. In the meantime, don't forget that allergens and irritants in the workplace can also be a "cause" of asthma. Good luck.
Avatar n tn If you also have asthma that is hard to control, you may want to discus Xolair with your doctor. That is for allergic asthma. Your IgE level definitely would qualify you for that treatment option. Please let us know how you are doing. God bless.
Avatar f tn s time for another allergy test to see if you have some new allergy triggers. You also said your asthma flared up since you started taking your children to school on a daily basis. You also said you had a bad asthma flare up in October of last year. In the fall, I think ragweed can also be an issue. Interestingly enough, an allergy test I had in the past revealed that I am allergic to dust as well. My worst allergy trigger is actually the pollen in June grass.
Avatar n tn Taking an active role in managing your asthma treatment will help you maintain better long-term asthma control, prevent asthma attacks and avoid long-term problems. Create a written asthma action plan with your doctor. This written plan will serve as an asthma treatment guide tailored to your specific needs.
Avatar n tn About 2 yrs ago I had a real bad cold/sinus infection and ended up in the ER because of my asthma. Ever since then, I have not been able to get my asthma under control. I've been prescribed almost everything you can think of, steroids, albuterol, xopenex (inhaler and inhalation solution), budesonide, mucinex and that's just for my asthma. Since I also have allergies, I've taken several different allergy meds and nasal sprays.
Avatar m tn Anything that increases overall health will help asthma - exercise (once you get the exercise asthma under control - may involve taking a puff or two of ventolin before you start), eating healthy - limiting sugar, caffeine, alcohol, fatty foods and increasing vegetables, fruits, lean meat, healthy fats and whole grains. Staying hydrated with water is also very important for asthmatics. Identifying and eliminating your triggers are important - you said exercise or laughing/sneezing.
Avatar f tn Asthma is an inflamatory disease. That means that the airways become inflamed and swollen and produce excess mucus which makes it difficult to breathe. Many people have mild asthma and don't really need to "control" their asthma. They can use a rescue inhaler ocassionally or have issues with it during a certain pollen season or when they get sick, but other than that it doesn't affect their life very much.
Avatar f tn Do this pranayam everyday, and your asthma will be in control. Review your medication, when you get no astham symptoms. Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Avatar m tn I am able to control the asthma mostly with antihistamine. Every once and a while I have regular asthma and I just use my rescue inhaler and stop what I am doing or leave the area. Walking past smokers will set off the asthma or Bleach, Clorine. Many irritants do it. If I get away fast it will undo, if too long I would require an inhaler to reverse it. My I ask. What do they look for when taking a chest X-ray. I thought they just wanted to make extra money from me.
Avatar f tn I would get her allergy tested again. It does sound like there is an asthma component there, considering she has a cough only in the winter time. Not everyone reacts the same way to allergy testing (skin *****). From my experience, I didn't even have a bump for the control (histamine), which everyone is supposed to have. I ended up seeing a second allergist and he explained it nicely.
Avatar n tn Even with the use of appropriate medication, appropriately administered, a person can have a bad attack, poorly responsive to the meds. Your description strongly suggests that your asthma is out of control and that you should seek medical assistance without delay. Given your multiple allergies, it is possible that your immune system has been overwhelmed by unusually high concentrations of one or more of these allergens.
1491252 tn?1297450771 The head aches can be several things, most likely allergy triggered migraines. Out of control asthma can also cause head aches. The head aches would be best evaluated by a doctor for an accurate diagnosis and treatment. If you could ask more specofic questions it would help.
463897 tn?1468013750 Ironically, my asthma is allergy based due to cat dander and dust mite allergies that have got much worse for the last couple of years. I do have 2 cats (and they aren't leaving!!) so if you want tips on how to reduce dander exposure to help your asthma I can give you personal experience of what has worked for me. I got diagnosed last january so I'm still a newbie at this asthma control but it's getting better and better now that we have the medications that work well for me.
Avatar n tn I lived in Florida for a while and my asthma was out of control there. I have to say, it wasn't the best state for my lungs. As a comedian used to say "anyplace but Florida..." Check out Wal-mart for the best prices on inhalers. I am going to recommend you save up your pennies and get some Foradil (formoterol fumerate inhalation powder). It is VERY expensive, but the 12mcg packets work almost immediately and are more effective than the albuterol sulfate.
Avatar m tn So sorry to hear that. Is he being seen by a pulmonary specialist? Is he taking any sort of preventative medications apart from ventoIin? He obviously needs to have his asthma controlled. I do know that they don't like to over medicate children on steroid puffers. But I do believe they are allowed up to 400ug/day safely before any side effects become apparent, such as slowed growth. Does he have a lot of air born allergies?
Avatar n tn An examination and testing by an Allergy/Asthma specialist is certainly suggested, and if there are positive allergy results, specific therapy directed at addressing those allergies, may be beneficial. Asthma is a chronic disease so you would be better off getting on a regimen under the direction of a specialist to control it, rather than only using what is termed "rescue" treatments.
1089149 tn?1256735542 what is the cure for asthama on dust allergy and what could be done for asthama, coming from cold-flu-cough. i get breathing problems while i encounter severe cold-flu-cough. i get cold first then get sore throat, then my chest burns and cough starts off. this leads to breathing problems and any work done is related to breathing excessively.
Avatar n tn First and most important. The response of your husband’s lungs to, what I presume to be, high dose steroids is very encouraging; very good news. It indicates that the obstruction to air flow (the prime characteristic of asthma) is, at least in part, reversible. Another way of saying this is that he does not appear to have the fixed, irreversible obstruction to airflow that, fortunately, occurs in a very small percentage of individuals with asthma.
Avatar m tn From the age of 18, I have suffered from uncontrolled asthma and severe nasal allergies. I have had extensive testing that proved inconclusive. I also suffer from severe dryness, cracking of the skin (confined to the palms of my hands, soles of my feet one elbow... anywhere a callous has formed). Basically, it looks like an allergic reaction. I get periodic bouts of hive and itchiness, like it is in my veins. I have also broken out in hives like large polka-dots over my skin.
