Common Questions and Answers about Aldara on face

aldara

Avatar n tn I am a 54 yo female with growths on my face, scalp, and wrist. The oldest have been there over 15 years. My first dermatologist said they were actinic keratoses, and froze 2 of them and curetted and cauterized one. I asked if there was a topical treatment, and he said no. He biopsied one but I don't know the results. They grew back. Then I got 2 more on my cheek and went back, and he said they were acne and refused to do anything. Once I talked a GP into freezing them. They grew back.
Avatar n tn Hello there, thank you for the advice you gave me the other day.I went to my doctor yesterday & he prescribed Aldara cream for me to apply on the warts/skin tags that I have on my face & neck area.Does any one know if this stuff really works,or is there any pre-cautions or side affects that I should be aware of?How long does it take to see results?I was told to apply this cream three times a week.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hi My brother is 18 years old and he has suffered from very severe acne on his face, chest and back. His acne got much better after treatment but unfortunately his skin produced keloids around his chest and back. He has tried the patches and steroid injections but nothing really worked. He recently surgically removed 2 keloids on his chest and our dermatologist gave him ALDARA cream to be used about 3 times a week on the wounds. I really want to know if he is doing the right thing.
Avatar f tn Actinic keratoses are thickened, scaly, pre-cancerous patches of skin on the face and scalp, usually caused by too much sun exposure. Actinic keratoses are also known as solar keratoses. Aldara is used for several skin conditions. Your doctor will tell you where to apply Aldara cream, and how often and for how long to apply it for your condition. Aldara should be applied just before bedtime and left on the skin for 6-10 hours. If your skin condition reappears you need to talk to your doctor.
Avatar n tn It was a very small one, hardly visible, so I didn't do much about it. I went to the doctor again 2 months ago and he suggested to use Aldara on it because he didn't keep a nitro gun. I had been using it for about 2 months when I developed this sore on my penis, size of a quater, but not round. There were no blisters but just a sore as if the skin had been peeled off. It was slightly weepy, pink, shiny and had white pus like formation/skin on it.

Avatar n tn Did the positive thinking truly work? I'm 19 and currently home to hundreds of flat warts on my face as well as a few on my hands and a few on my forearms. They remain rather invisible, but they are persistant and continue to spread. So far Retenoids, PDT, Aldara, and salicylic acid have not worked. I desperately wish to get them off me and return to my normal skinned self! Thanks!
Avatar f tn I have genital HPV and I was treating the warts using Aldara. Applied a lot of the cream Monday to the outside of lower labia minora. Wednesday the labia was hard, swollen and really sore. Friday the swelling was reduced and in it place were 2 sore lesions located just inside the labia. I am now convinced it is herpes from looking at pictures online and reading the symptoms. I am also experiencing tingling down there too!
Avatar n tn ) This is impacting my every life so much as I get more and more flat warts on my face. My doctor prescribed me with Aldara cream and I have bad skin irritation and blisters. I only apply the cream 2 times a week now – been using it for 2 weeks. I will give it another 3 weeks to see what happens. I really don’t know what to expect and will this be over soon!!!???
Avatar n tn He is of course, becoming self-conscience about it. The Aldera worked great on part of the wart on his face but the other half is not responding, except for to slowly grow. I know there is no quick fix, but I figured you might could help! What do you think would be the best course of treatment for this situation? Thank you so much!

Avatar m tn They usually appear on my chin, behind my ear and on my head scalp. But the ones on my chin are very very stubborn. I have been to dermatologist every month, removing on an average 3-4 warts. I doctor have tried out various way to remove them (Applying cantharidin, liquid nitrogen + Currettage and burning the wart ). I have also stopped shaving and just trim my beard now a days, but still they come back at different places and sometimes after couple of months later at the same place.
1094370 tn?1317138425 I'm worried about that because the cancer is more towards the tip of my nose... Anyhow, I'm looking to see if anyone has had success curing their skin cancer on their face using this cream..? Thank you.
Avatar n tn On a completely seperate topic. I had protected sex with a girl several times in June. Not too long after the skin on the front of my sack (sorry for the nonmedical terms) tuned red and scaley. It started to itch like a rash, but burned if I touched it. I used Neosporin on on it to keep it from being dry and it seemed to work. After about a week it quit itching / burning and the skin got really flaky and eventually healed.
Avatar n tn I feel much better knowing that it wasn't herpes, but very angry at the fact the original doctor was trying to save face and say that I might still have it (how mean can that be). Am I on the wrong path assuming that I don't have herpes. Regards.
Avatar n tn my marks or scars are on a very private area, an area which is tied to sexuality and is causing me a lot of depression and inability to move on. I have other scars, on my face, and although I was concerned about them for a second, I didn't really give them much thought. But the marks on my penis are just causing me to lose hope. If I have to live w/this the rest of my life, how am I going to explain it to future partners??? How do I actually accept this and move on? I feel so hopeless.
Avatar m tn I'd return to the dermatologist for further evaluation to see what all is going on. if the aldara isn't working or you are somehow spreading it to other body parts by touching, perhaps you need these all surgically removed instead of trying the aldara to treat it. not to panic you but no easy way to ask this - do you have any underlying medical issues? also have you been tested for hiv?
Avatar n tn I didn't know what it is unless i searched the web , i didn't even know i was infected, I feel like i am having little warts on my skin almost everywhere , or it is just my skin that is having reaction and i am over acting on it, Please tell me if those can grow on my body or face and if i have the infection can i take aldara , or any other types of medicines to help my immune system, I have been having emotional breakdowns and dipressions over the past few years and i know i have low immun sy
Avatar f tn however he had two massive scars down his leg, from the fasciotomy’s Doctor/specialist, had to do fasciotomy’s on his leg, due to the compartment syndrome in the leg, release the pressure in his leg. Would Laser? be able to fade the scars. I know the scars won’t go completely, but would laser or light pulse therapy help fade his scars. Or a cream I have read called Aldara, can that help fade scars. I know VIt E scar creams don't have much success at fading scars.
Avatar n tn Actinic keratosis is a skin condition characterized by rough, scaly patches on the skin of face, lips, ears, back of your hands, forearms, scalp and neck. The usual cause is overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays. This is usually a precancerous condition, which can develop into skin cancer. The lesions can increase in size and spread to surrounding tissues.
Avatar n tn Hello, my son has has this rash on his face going on a year and a half now. I have been to multiple dermatologists, but nothing has worked so far. A year and a half ago my son had contact dermatitis where his entire face became swollen. Since then he has had this rash on his face. It is a brown freckle- like rash around his eyes and on his cheeks that flares up and becomes red when its hot or after alot of physical activity. It looks like more and more are appearing all the time.
Avatar n tn I've exfoliated to the extreme and have tried to dry them out with benzol peroxide, and it does start to improve, but then the rest of my face suffers. I was just at SkinHealth on Newberry St and the doctor there said I had some infection that was spreading. She said I might have picked it up from a yoga mat. How do I treat these bumps? is there anything OTC or do I have to see a derm? Please help!!!
Avatar m tn I'm a fan of having MC removed so it's less likely to spread. You can also use aldara on it too. http://www.ashastd.org/learn/learn_mc.
Avatar n tn Is it true that if I had a cluster of raised bumps that itched that showed up overnight that didnt become fluid filled nor would they pop even with extreme pressure and didnt hurt after putting aldara on it(and believe me i over did it with aldara) and turned grayish white but after 4 times of aldara it did peel into an open sore. its not herpes? 3.
Avatar n tn MC virus infection is among toddlers, among whom it is transmitted through saliva, with lesions occurring mostly on the face. Infected kids then become immune, so they can't get it again. Children who don't catch MC grow up as adults who have never been exposed and are not immune. In adults, the virus is transmitted sexually. Lesions occur mostly near the genitals, e.g.
Avatar n tn I've been to a dermatologist and I got my biopse done, and they told me I have flat warts (on my face), I don't have a big quantity but I can notice that every month a new one comes out. They told me to treat them with a medication called Aldara, but it is very expensive, so I bought a generic medication from India, which is called Imiquad manufactured by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals. I am using it 3x a week. I know the treatment is slow and that I am not going to have fast results at all.
Avatar n tn Last month, they came back to almost the same spot they were first frozen off on the front of my thigh(I think they may have started on my face, but have had them several places now-stomach, waist line, genital, backside, back of my thighs, possibly back). The first were removed by cryo in June (but they started in May), the second by acid. I also had quite a few more burned off my last treatment-Aldara just didn't do it.
