Common Questions and Answers about Aldara info

aldara

Avatar f tn Recently (5/28) diagnosed with molluscum contagiosum and besides from cryotherapy for treatment i also received Aldara cream 5%. (the derm did not get every lump/wart with the liquid nitrogen) Questions I have about this is; How effective is it to be used? Should I apply it with a finger or would a Q-Tip be better or should it be something else? How exactly does it work?
Avatar n tn The dr gave me aldara. I have used it as directed for just over two weeks. I have had zero reaction or side effects from the cream. How do I know if its working? and if its not what would the reason be? At what point should I see another Dr.? Thanks for any info.
Avatar n tn ) The clinician thought that the yeast infections were unrelated, but regardless, since I only have on spot to use the aldara on now, the irritation has gone away. Thanks for the info! I was beginning to wonder on the aldara; it's funny how a few months can seem like such a long time!
Avatar m tn I used Aldara successfully and never got any redness, pain ,etc. I had a wart under a fingernail once and the Dr prescribed Aldara with a bandage over the finger to keep the medicine on and in two weeks it was gone. Some HPV (genital warts do not respond to Aldara or freezing and must be zapped with a CO2 laser or cut out or burned out with the Hyfrecator (sp?) All people with visible genital warts should have them removed ASAP as they can cause cancer in females AND males.
Avatar m tn Eventually I had them checked, they were warts and I had them removed and was put on Aldara. I used what my dermatologist gave me but I had no insurance so I never actually filled the prescription. The warts came back months later. I thought about the laser surgery which would be very expensive but the doctor put me back on the Aldara, which I filled this time, hoping it would take care of the problem.
Avatar m tn well i was thinking about using the 17% acid by the nurse at planned parenthood the thing is non of the warts are like big or single there are multiple tiny ones so i dunno if that would be the best way to go but ill call PP for more info. What did you end up using?
Avatar m tn She did use a cream on him that appeared to temporarily work-- imiquimod cream 5% - drug name Aldara. It has 12 single application doses (each the size of a postage stamp). She writes: "Not much in them so it's hard to only use one on an application. It cost $180 more in some other drugstores. I bought two boxes and used for 5 ½ weeks Monday to Friday as the vet said.
Avatar n tn The anti-wart treatment prescribed probably is imiquimod (trade names Aldara or Zyclara) or podofilox (Condylox). If the diagnosis remains uncertain, I agree a biopsy is a good idea. So it sounds like you are in competent hands. Continue to follow the dermatologist's advice.
Avatar m tn The UK expert told me that warts on dry surfaces such as penis and shaft respond less well to topical ointments such as podophollyxin and freezing TCA or aldara is best. But for moist surfaces topical ointments work fine. So don't despair if you think they aren't going ask your health care or GP for another type of treatment and they will eventually go. In terms of people worried about recurrence, I have found that doctors never like to say never after the 3 months.
Avatar f tn She gave me 0 treatment plan and no info. Fast forward to April, i try ACV home method because those two dots are still present and this causes a huge cluster to pop up (sneaky bastards we’re chilling under my skin i guess). So i go to the doc right away and get treatment plan with off brand Aldara (Immoquid). I’m on about week 6 of treatment and some warts are appearing to be kind of stubborn but i see change.
Avatar f tn well a few months ago i began to get genital warts i used aldara and they went away not to mention the symptoms was very painful, anway a few weeks later i put alot of it on my inner labia but didnt have an warts i just wanted to make sure none were there, any way a few days later i seen these round white ulcers looking things on the outer part of my labia i didnt think it was from the aldara because of the first time using it i never got this but im not sure, i automatically thought it was herpe
Avatar n tn I would discuss this with your health care provider. Aldara cream is often used to treat genital warts. However, this only treats the physical manifestation of HPV - not the virus itself.
Avatar m tn I don't know about these products I only have experience with acid treatments and Aldara. It is difficult to know what is honest when looking at info on these products online. One option is to go to a health food store, vit shop and ask. They often have books and computers with programs that will suggest natural products. I am taking some vits that help the immune system and with warts.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Aldara and had to go every three weeks to have the spots frozen. It took about 1 year to go away with treatment. Left untreated it could take as long as two years. Every case is different though. I was lead to believe that although it gets into your DNA, once the bumps are gone you cannot transmit the virus to others. My child also contracted the virus many years after I had it.
Avatar f tn i got aldara cream and a vitamin c injection and after the first application of aldara everything was gone!!! i continued to use aldara for almost a month just to make sure it would just pop right back up. my boyfriend didn't not recieve the vitamin c injection and used aldara for almost three months and just when they were gone, he stopped.
Avatar n tn I had a diagnosed condyloma back in 10/07 which was treated with Aldara in 11/07. Now in 03/08 I think I may have another wart, but not in the exact spot I had the previous wart. My question is, if it is a recurrent condyloma, can it reoccur in another spot or does it always reoccur in the same spot? Since I have been sexually active with a monogamous partner since that time could we be giving this infection to each other back & forth? My partner was checked without any diagnosis before.
Avatar m tn I was perscribed Aldara Cream for my external warts. I dont feel like they are spreading but I'm really not seeing much improvement with the warts.... Honestly I'm not really sure what to expect........ they have been kind of "trying to" fall off I guess... or peel off...painfully.... but I thought they were just supposed to dissappear. But I'm sick of Aldara becuase it makes me itchy and sore and uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn i've had gential warts in and around my vagina and in and around my anus for about 4 months now and have been using aldara cream 3 times a week for those past 4 months. i've been having sex every week with my partner of the last year and he has not noticed the warts on me. the cream has not helped at all as the warts have grown and become more widespread. the aldara also irritated my skin so much! went back to my doctor who is going to freeze my warts next week. is this a painful procedure?
Avatar f tn http://www.loxdoc.com/aldara/ but I think it can help prevent future outbreaks but can't cure them. Another cream you can use is warticon: http://www.loxdoc.com/warticon/ Hope that helps! As for marriage, yes why not get married?
Avatar n tn I just found out I had HPV yesterday and had my warts frozen and was given aldara to use in two days time. My question was, when would it be ok to masturbate again, and when would it be ok to have sex again?
Avatar m tn He said that hpv was transfered though bodily fluids and not skin to skin contact and that if i wore a condom i was fine. I found out all the REAL info on my own. But wart came back and i went on the aldara, which gave me terrible side affects, but i finally got rid of the wart. There is now a very small bump on the head of my penis that is whiteish in color. When i pull the skin tight it turns to a pink color and when i am erect i can not see it.
Avatar n tn She told me that they aren't genital warts because of the way they looked and told me that it looks like Molluscum Contagiosum virus. She even perscribed me a topical ointment called Aldara to use every other day on the spots. It's been a little over a month and there is no improvement. I am so self conscious about these bumps and they're now spreading down my upper thighs. I'm going to the bahamas in December and I want to be able to wear a swim suit on the beach.
Avatar f tn I am a 45 year old woman. I have been with the same person for most of my adult life (20 plus years) except for a brief separation 4 to 5 years ago where I had another partner . I have just been diagnosed with genital warts and was given aldara for treatment. These "wartlike " things were found after I was looking in my anal area for signs of hemeroids or something. I found these things which looked like numerous skin tags to me...some larger than others.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with gw a few weeks ago and was prescribed Aldara twice (I got a second opinion) even though 3M's info specifically says not to use Aldara inside the vagina. Other sites have claimed that internal use of Aldara may lead to autoimmune problems, so I got worried and stopped using it. These are a few medium sized gw on the lower inside of the vaginal lips, visible but close to lower hymenal opening.
Avatar n tn Today I went for my annual PAP and of course experienced more differences in information from yet another doctor which brought me here. This difference in info is that she said HPV types can cross over and high risk types can cause warts and low risk types can cause cervical changes. My gyno claims she has seen both. These are the questions I have: 1.
Avatar m tn She started me on Aldara which is terrible but somewhat bearable. I take frequent breaks between applications because I can get so sensitive from it. The last time I used it (about 3 weeks ago now) I had (what I thought) to be a terrible reaction to Aldara: I had a low grade fever, nausea, dizziness, and many open ulcers that formed "down there". I cried and dreaded every time I had to urinate because it hurt so badly.
Avatar n tn org message boards are up and running again as of this morning. Go check out their hpv info and board for more help. I believe the gyn is over reacting about all this ( which scares me to death considering it's a gyn who specializes in down yonder!!! ). You don't have to worry about spreading hpv to her cervix from these external warts for the rest of her life! Tell her to pick a new gyn and go get them treated so that they are gone. Did they prescribe aldara or anything for them?
154520 tn?1270167776 You may want to ask your doctor if this may be an option for you or the use of Aldara (topical chemo). Good luck.
Avatar m tn No worries man just handle it when u get home or if possible in Iraq if a derm is even available. They may be able to get u aldara. Believe me u ain't the only one. It is very common. Check out ashastd.org for more info. Good luck man!
Avatar f tn It is not going away with cryo like the genital warts and I don't want to continure putting Aldara on it and irritiating it because I don't think its warts. What do you guys think?
