587778 tn?1261397118 Are you sure she had a reaction to albuterol? I can easily see the steroid as the culprit, but albuterol surprises me. Of course, if you overuse it you will get a fast heart beat, but in moderate amounts it is usually OK. I use it and I also take an antihistamine.
Avatar f tn I just recently started having a problem when running. I would like to do a half-marathon this weekend and am wondering if i should take prednisone prior to and the day of the run?
Avatar f tn I workout 4-5 days a week but see myself using the albuterol inhaler 10-20 min into my cardio workout. I really wished I was like the others who can jump on the treadmill and run without using medications. I was wondering if this frequent use of the albuterol inhaler will affect me negatively. I've also noticed it's been difficult to lose weight. Is this due to these steroids?
Avatar n tn He is now 1 1/2 years old and I have been running regularly again for about 3 months. I average 3 days a week and usually run 3 miles each time. Usually I have no problems at all, other than feeling a little short of breath, but this is under much better control since I've become better conditioned. (I was diagnosed with asthma several years ago, but haven't needed an inhaler for 3 years now.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know whether asthma can affect running performance even if there are no obvious breathing problems? If it helps any, I take Symbicort everyday, and add Singulair for a while if I start having problems. I use albuterol 10-15 minutes before each run. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I am a 25 year old female. I have never smoked. I drink maybe 3 times a year. I have been having chest pains over the past couple of hours. It has been a steady pain....(7-7.5 on a scale of 1-10)... I've had a little bit of pain in my shoulder as well...What could be causing this? I am 5'8" and I weigh 260. I do have high blood pressure and asthma, (i take Lisinopril and Albuterol for those).
Avatar n tn That all persists, after two courses of antibiotics and prednisone. I am also nebulizing with albuterol every 4-6 hours. The bronchitis seems to have resolved, but when I venture outside my home even briefly, I get horrible attacks of coughing & nasal mucous. I feel trapped!
Avatar n tn no emergencies, thank goodness). He takes Singulair every night, Albuterol as needed and Benadryl as needed (all as suggested by his doctor). He recently had a cold and his asthma flared up. We gave him albuterol via his nebulizer 3 times daily for around 6 days (his ped said 4-7 days).
Avatar n tn It sound like you suffer from E.I.B. (Exercise induced bronchospasm). One of the main symptoms is "Unusual Fatigue with Exercise" which can last minutes or up to many hours afterwords. Basically, the lungs are not getting the amount of air needed to feed the muscles the oxygen they need. Most people with asthma have this, but many without asthma suffer from this as well. The good news is, that if this is the problem, it is easy to "fix".
1047019 tn?1256719961 I love long-distance running...cross country in particular. I've run with untreated asthma for many years and it's really not a safe thing to do. I've been caught in situations where I've had to stop and "wait out" coughing episodes, which can be very intense and long-lived. I've also had to stop because I couldn't breathe, which isn't cool. For the past few years, due to breathing issues, I've only run a handful of times.
678431 tn?1227554311 fast roller skating, running, jogging, and distance biking. So, I really rely on my inhaler. My friend's mom says though that her mother's inhaler had steriods in them, like it comes with albuteral or somethin'. Is this just mythical, or am I becoming victim of false advertisement? (I'd rather just take it easy than that, if possible.
Avatar n tn Albuterol is a bronchodilator used to treat many of the same issues as Flovent, but it can also be used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Albuterol comes in a syrup, tablet, or as a suspension in an inhaler. Albuterol works by causing the passages to the lung to relax and open, which makes breathing easier.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with an exercise induced asthma and prescribed a 90 mcg albuterol inhaler. I didn't use it much as I was fine most of the time. But just recently I have been having to use my inhaler every few hours or so because if I don't I get really short breathed. I don't know what's going on and it's worrying me.

757137 tn?1347196453 This is used as an alternative to Albuterol if the side effects are severe with Albuterol. This could also be used in conjunction with Albuterol, to relieve acute flare ups of Asthma. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Please help with any suggestions you may have...we are desperate to help our son succeed in the sport he loves.
Avatar n tn Is there a significant difference between using an albuterol inhaler as opposed to a Combivent inhaler? I have a family member that receives an extra monthly Combivent inhaler but am not sure if it is safe to use long term instead of the albuterol I was prescribed.

Avatar f tn I wrote in to this website when my son was 4 years old and started with transient motor tics, right after having two back-to-back illnesses (with a high temperature) and also after being treated with albuterol for severe asthma. His tics have not been as bad as they were the first time he started having them, but are still present at times. He is also growing out of asthma.
