Common Questions and Answers about Albuterol in the eye

Avatar f tn I wrote in to this website when my son was 4 years old and started with transient motor tics, right after having two back-to-back illnesses (with a high temperature) and also after being treated with albuterol for severe asthma. His tics have not been as bad as they were the first time he started having them, but are still present at times. He is also growing out of asthma.
Avatar n tn s nosebleed is probably due to the combination of the allergy and the albuterol. But what can I do without the albuterol ?
Avatar n tn My 1 year old daughter hit herself on the table nearby her left eye. I tried to put an ice pack immediately on the bruised area. After an hour or so, I did not see anything then. I put a hot pack during the night time too, in order to soothe her eye. But after two days, I saw bruises under her left eye, not the place where she was actually hit. What should I do now? She looks okay healthwise. She is playing and acting as nothing has happened.
1057060 tn?1266513126 I am 22 weeks pregnant and I also hate taking any meds during pregnancy. However, my asthma inhaler is a different story, Like Losingmymind said, it is VERY important for the baby to have the proper amount of oxygen. The only inhaler I currently use is my Albuterol and I used it with my first pregnancy too. I did a ton of research and found out it's been around for years and used safely to control asthma during pregnancy.
Avatar n tn recently diagnosed with COPD/emphysema. hospitalized three times: finally determined that i'm allergic to sulfate based albuterol, combivent, all of the usual "suspects." i'm now on advair (one week= 115 ) and doing okay - except the only rescue inhaler i can tolerate is primotene mist. just took an oximeter test - came out 86-87. i think it's too soon to go on oxygen, until we see if advair works. but i worry about the advair too.
Avatar f tn Start with warmups so your lungs can climatize and then build up your intensity. I find in the summer time I can run 10 km in 45 minutes and winter time it's no where near as good and so I tend to stick with 7 km instead. It is better to pace yourself and still get your exercise then none at all.
435139 tn?1255460391 even walking from one room to another is a huge toll on me...I read that albuterol is a class C drug and has not been studied in pregnancy in humans...in animals is is linked to cleft palate defects and other defects too! Since I am in the 2ww I am not sure if I took my albuterol in my nebulizer if I'd be risking my potential babies health. I'll call my pharmacist or dr. in a couple hours but it is only 5 a.m. and I won't be able to call until 9...when they open.
Avatar n tn I have allergic asthma and have been on inhaled corticosteroids for nearly 20 yrs. (Advair for 3 years, prior to that albuterol rescue inhaler only). My optometrist recently informed me I have early cataracts in both eyes. I was shocked due to my age (55) and excellent health (other than my asthma). I read of links between these drugs and cataracts. If I reduce the usage of my inhaled meds would this slow down the cataract progression?
Avatar f tn I have to use a Ventolin inhaler for an asthma flare-up - as a rescue inhaler. I used it about 10 times over the 3 mon. when on the treatment with the Sovaldi/Peg/Riba when I was on those 3 drugs at least, not one did the Gilead nurse ever give me any cautions on using the Ventolin. If I'm not mistaken, the Ventolin is the same drug as Albuterol. So, my thinking is here, that, the interaction must be with the Ledi part of the Harvoni and not the Sofosbuvir part.
Avatar f tn Hi!
Avatar f tn I keep getting this fluttering sensation in the back of my head like there is a butterfly stuck in there. do you have any idea what it is?
Avatar n tn My pulmonary specialist just gave me an Advair Diskus and increased my Albuterol breathing treatments to 4-6 daily and my Combivent Inhaler every 4 hours. I almost died from an asthma attack last weekend. I had emergency heart surgery in June and have been having arrhythmias so I'm on a heart monitor for this month. I understand that Advair causes heart palpitations. Since I'm already having trouble with my heartbeat, I'm afraid to try the Advair.
Avatar f tn s difficult to make a recommendation over the internet. The ER will provide you with meds that open up the airways, but won't do much for the pain. Control of the airway with meds usually resolves the lung pain issues, which are generally pleuritic..
Avatar n tn It is VERY expensive, but the 12mcg packets work almost immediately and are more effective than the albuterol sulfate. The Foradil will last for a long time. It will save you a hospital bill on a bad day. The albuterol suflate is short-acting. The steroidal inhalers do NOT work immediately.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your answer. So basicly all i have to worry about than is if im allergic to corticosteroid that is in the Flovent that the albuterol inhaler doesn't have?
Avatar m tn Sometimes people do get thrush problems in the mouth from using the steroid inhalers and the thing with that is after you inhale your medication, is to have a drink.
Avatar f tn My dr had me on albuterol in the 1st tri of my last preg...I couldn't breathe and used it for a week. No harm to baby.
677938 tn?1226344160 And Everytime I Have An Asthma Attack I Use It And It Feels Like I Cant Catch My Breath..Whats Going On? Its Had Me In The Hospital Many Of Time ??
Avatar f tn ve been using my albuterol for the past week because of humidity. I was given the ok by my midwife and my ob. As long as you follow the directions you and your little one will be fine. My doctor said it's better to be breathing and have a little medication in your system, then have an asthma attackand deprive your baby of oxygen.
726605 tn?1231368596 Do you take these on a daily basis. Medrol is hardcore. What does your doctor say about medrol during pregnancy. I assume you mean albuterol in the nebulizer. I've taken that during pregnancy...but that's when my asthma's been out of control. Sound like the meds you are taking are "short-term". Those aren't anything you would take on a regular basis for controlling asthma. In any event...
Avatar n tn Hi, Prednisolone is an oral steroid medication nad istherefore to be avoided in the eye condition that you have. But why have you stopped taking advair - these are steroid inhaler medications with almost no systemic side effects and therefore can be safely taken in your case. The best option for your asthma is definitely inhaler medications and you can continue to take them, with regular follow ups with your chest specialist and eye specialist too. Try to avoid any steroid oral medications.
1754037 tn?1327886811 So far ultrasounds say my little man is still healthy. I was never advised by my ob/gyn to not take the albuterol. In my opinion even if there is a risk using albuterol it wouldn't be a big one or OB's would not allow so many pregnant women to use them. Also the risk of not using it could be so much worse. It is important that you are able to breathe so your baby develops properly. You should ask your Ob about the steriod for sure. hope this helped.
757137 tn?1347196453 Often the above two are given in combination. Does anyone know in what way they are different? Do they have a synergistic effect? Does one have worse side effects? I can't seem to find the information I am looking for on the internet. Thank you for your help.
Avatar f tn During this month she has had pink eye and a ear infection. The pink eye went away with meds, the ear infection is now on week 3. She took amoxicillon (the pink one) for 10 days, and now she's starting amoxicillon (the white one) for 10 more days. As for the cough, she has been prescribed 3 different meds for her cough pseudophedrine, prednisone (orapred), albuterol, and now prednisone again. Has anyone else's child had a cough that wouldnt go away.
Avatar n tn Thus, when an asthmatic attack is precipatated after the albuterol, you are in a 911 situation and the time between an attack and death from respiratory arrest and death can sometimes be measured in minutes. "More albuterol" won't work. Your son will need intravenous medications and likly endotracheal intubation. There are alternative medications that still alow for the albuterol to be "held in reserve".
Avatar n tn I was told by my doc that Combivent just has an additional allergy medicine in it, in addition to the albuterol. It shouldn't hurt you, I wouldn't think. I have allergies also and this inhaler worked great for me.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info!! I've only used it twice since I found out. I forgot to ask the other day when I was at the dr but I figured it was better to be able to breathe! I was starting to feel really constricted and I don't think that's good for the baby either.
Avatar f tn Helicopters rarely exceed 1500 foot above ground level, and usually are below 1,000 feet. If you are comfortable at ground level the helicopter ride will be no problem. I used to fly them way back when Obama was a gleam in his father's eye. I hate Alaska. I was there once on a military exercise. Toooooo cold. Yes, the inhaler can freeze. Keep it next to your body.
