Common Questions and Answers about Albuterol in cats

pulmozyme

Avatar n tn I am allergic to new cut grass, dust, cats, mold, etc. I have had this Dreadful cough since November 2004. The last thing they have had me on is Albuterol liquid form that goes into a nebulizer machine. Albuterol only fixes the problem for the moment and has terrible long term effects. Please, please help me. I have been to so many doctors. thank you for your kindness ahead of time.
Avatar f tn This season came around and sure enough, when he got a cold it went straight to lungs (wheezing, SOB, coughing) We started inhaled steroid (budesonide), albuterol regimen again. Proved unsuccessful to resolve cough. Round of Orapred proved unsuccessful to resolve cough. After four months we consulted with Pulmonologist. Switched up steriod to inhaled Flovent 44 instead of nebulizer and albuterol qid. No results. Chest x-ray and blood allergy (why not at this point) ordered and clear.
Avatar n tn I'm a 44-year old female, with asthmatic allergic response to cats since childhood. I smoked off and on from 18-39, about 5 pack-years. I've lived near a cat (outdoors with access to my husband's study) for 18 years, and have treated my asthma with albuterol, adding ventolin when necessary. About 12 weeks ago I caught bronchitis, then wildfires broke out near my home that made the air unhealthy for about 2 weeks. This provoked a severe asthma attack -- for three weeks.
Avatar f tn Both were treated with albuterol and an oral steriod. The second attack caused him to be hospitalized during treatment because he was not responding well to 3 doses of albuterol via nebulizer and had low oxygen sat. (88%). Both of the epsiodes occured during a cold/virus. My Dr. is reccomending a once daily pulmicort treatment for prevention purposes. I am a little hesitant to be giving him this at such a young age and only a short time of displaying these symtoms.
Avatar n tn That doctor took him off all the medications and he was fine with no adverse reactions but occasionly felt he need an albuterol inhaler. In Jan 2011 he developed a severe cold which aggravated his asthma and is now (Nov 11), and has since, been back on daily doses of Qvar, Claritin, and Rhinoqort. Again I will be taking him for a second opinion. My questions are: 1. What are the individula and/or combined side effects of taking these medications daily? 2.
Avatar m tn Certainly removing any allergens she may have is important in helping to control her asthma. In return if her asthma is more in control, she might be less susceptible to other viruses, such as the croup.
Avatar n tn Early December I started coughing more and started having pain in my right lung when I took a deep breath. Sometimes the pain is felt in my mid back area and on my right side in the ribs. The DR. took an x ray which showed a bronchectic infection in my right lung. I was put on 14 days of antibodics which took away the cough and green phlem that I always have. I have been off the antibodics for a week now and I still have the pain, my cough is coming back, but thats expected.
Avatar m tn I should add I am a smoker (havent smoked in 4 days tho), had asthma a decade ago, just got a cat in my house for 2 months and I'm allergic to cats... but then why would it start now when I've had him for 2 months.
Avatar f tn So we will see how that goes. She was tested earlier in the year for the basic allergies like to cats, dogs, eggs etc and they all came back negative. Maybe I will have her tested again.
Avatar m tn I am 14 years old and i was diagnosed with asthma when i was little. I am not on any medication for it except for an albuterol inhalher. anyway, this morning when i woke up i had difficulty breathing and my nose was very stuffy (the house i'm staying in has 2 dogs and 2 cats.) so i went down stairs to get my back so i could get a change of clothes. as i was walking back up, i started getting a burning in my chest and stomach and felt very out of breath.
215461 tn?1331862765 Ask him if it feels like a scratch in his throat, or if it feels like something is sliding down it, stuck in it, or has pins in it...these are often signs of postnasal drip...which makes you cough constantly. If your doctor refuses to test for asthma it could be that he already figures your son has it. After all, he DOES have him on asthma and allergy medications. lol I believe that your son is old enough to be tested...as I said above, mine was 6 when tested. Hope this helps.
435139 tn?1255460391 even walking from one room to another is a huge toll on me...I read that albuterol is a class C drug and has not been studied in pregnancy in humans...in animals is is linked to cleft palate defects and other defects too! Since I am in the 2ww I am not sure if I took my albuterol in my nebulizer if I'd be risking my potential babies health. I'll call my pharmacist or dr. in a couple hours but it is only 5 a.m. and I won't be able to call until 9...when they open.
Avatar f tn Other than that it can be due to pinched cervical spinal nerves, clot in a blood vessel, localized dermatitis or even dandruff. Peripheral neuropathy as in diabetes too could be a cause. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn Still recovering from severe acute bronchitis that lasted 3 months (started mid-October 08), I am now living cat-free and taking all my meds. For eighteen years I lived in the vicinity of an outdoor cat, smoked periodically (last puff 5.5 years ago) and suffered what I considered to be mild asthma. I used albuterol about 1/day (usually just one puff) because of feelings of tightness at the top of my bronchi.
230262 tn?1316645934 The dogs never found the fox, he probably went back to his den by the pond Im guessing (which is on next property over, not our yard) THis worries me though cuz that neighbor told me a long time ago that a fox lived there, but Id never seen it before until today and am freaked out that it came in our yard and almost ate one of our cats! Now he will probably be over all the time looking for meals.
Avatar n tn Albuterol is a bronchodilator used to treat many of the same issues as Flovent, but it can also be used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Albuterol comes in a syrup, tablet, or as a suspension in an inhaler. Albuterol works by causing the passages to the lung to relax and open, which makes breathing easier.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with an exercise induced asthma and prescribed a 90 mcg albuterol inhaler. I didn't use it much as I was fine most of the time. But just recently I have been having to use my inhaler every few hours or so because if I don't I get really short breathed. I don't know what's going on and it's worrying me.
Avatar f tn My dr had me on albuterol in the 1st tri of my last preg...I couldn't breathe and used it for a week. No harm to baby.
677938 tn?1226344160 Hi. I Have Asthma && I Use An Albuterol Inhalation. And Everytime I Have An Asthma Attack I Use It And It Feels Like I Cant Catch My Breath..Whats Going On? Its Had Me In The Hospital Many Of Time ??
Avatar f tn I have asthma and have been having a hard time breathing these past two days but really bad tonight.. I just used my albuterol and I'm so scared its going to hurt my baby. My Dr told me its better to breathe lol but I'm just being paranoid n worried.. anyone have asthma and used albuterol during pregnancy?
1754037 tn?1327886811 So far ultrasounds say my little man is still healthy. I was never advised by my ob/gyn to not take the albuterol. In my opinion even if there is a risk using albuterol it wouldn't be a big one or OB's would not allow so many pregnant women to use them. Also the risk of not using it could be so much worse. It is important that you are able to breathe so your baby develops properly. You should ask your Ob about the steriod for sure. hope this helped.
587778 tn?1261397118 3 weeks ago my 16 year old daughter had a bad reaction to the fumes that her art supplies produced. She was treated for asthma in the ER and sent home with an albuterol inhaler and prednisone. Within a few days, she was hospitalized due to a severe reaction to the prednisone and albuterol. She will never be able to take any medication with a steroid. Since then, she has had exercise and cold induced attacks.
Avatar n tn Thus, when an asthmatic attack is precipatated after the albuterol, you are in a 911 situation and the time between an attack and death from respiratory arrest and death can sometimes be measured in minutes. "More albuterol" won't work. Your son will need intravenous medications and likly endotracheal intubation. There are alternative medications that still alow for the albuterol to be "held in reserve".
Avatar f tn Just wondering if anyone here uses an albuterol inhaler and are they safe to use during pregnancy? I use one every now and then but not on a daily basis. I'm only 5 weeks along. I used mine tonight because I felt like I absolutely had to.
Avatar n tn I was told by my doc that Combivent just has an additional allergy medicine in it, in addition to the albuterol. It shouldn't hurt you, I wouldn't think. I have allergies also and this inhaler worked great for me.
Avatar f tn s eye-rolling tics always increased about a week after a bad asthma episode, which resulted in having several albuterol treatments. It seems as though the brain is damaged by the albuterol treatments. Has anyone experienced this, as I have? My son is almost 7 now and started seeing a homeopath last year, who has been very sucessful of treating my son's asthma.
