Avatar m tn The answer to your first question is yes. You had no risk since you are asking about other methods. So it is time for you to move on instead of asking more questions.

Avatar n tn two of them i did not use condom and one i did.. after which i watched documentaries about hiv/aids and i was afraid.. i asked the three of them and they told me they are 200% sure safe because they do have annual check-up.. i want to have myself checked to be sure but all of the write-ups im reading about hiv/aids said that it should be 3 months after the last contact.. im afraid because im have colds now and i felt like i have fever but when i checked it with a thermometer its normal..
Avatar m tn Explain your symptoms to your doctor who may arrange for blood testing if he can not diagnose it. One thing is for certain, it is not HIV.
Avatar n tn I've seen varying claims of just how effective condoms are. http://projects.publicintegrity.org/aids/report.aspx?aid=810 "Norman Hearst, a professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, has spent 20 years researching HIV/AIDS in developing countries. In a 2003 report funded by UNAIDS, he concluded that condoms were effective 90 percent of the time based on an aggregate study of all studies done on condom effectiveness.
Avatar f tn I just found out about 12 years ago my mate was unfaithful and i have gotten tested recently with an third generation eia antibody test hiv1/2 with reflexes, a rapid blood test, 4 oraquick home tests and all came back negative. But ive read ur post that some people with aids antibodies wont show on those tests. Im very scared that im in that stage and the tests i took arent sufficient enough to know for sure.

Meaning, besides the insomnia preventing you from sleep you don't have any other factors adding to the problem. If it's hot have an ac or fan. Stay hydrated. Sleep in light clothing, have something to drink near by, make sure all things that interrupt your natural sleep are prevented..like noise and light.

Avatar n tn Hi Doc, I really hope I am not wasting your time, but I very concerned with what I have been noticing. I have been noticing these small red, pinkish and some even purple spots around my eyes. I have found that it is not uncommon for people with HIV to develop some skin conditions but I'm not clear if it usually happens in the later stages or in the early stages of the virus. I have had unprotected oral sex(recieved) more times than I would like to admit and have had protected anal sex.
Avatar m tn So my advice is to accept the scientific evidence and reasoned reassurance you have had (several times) and rely on the standard testing methods, as do almost all persons tested for HIV. Do your best to stop obsessing about your HIV status, RNA/DNA testing, and (perhaps) an regretted exposure event or a sexual experience from all those years ago. That will end this thread. I won't have more to say about it. Good luck.
Avatar m tn All of my tests came back negative and this was 47 or 48 days after potential exposure. I made sure to ask whether the testing facility re-uses needles/syringes and I was assured that they do not. However when I was tested, I noticed that the needle that was used to draw my blood was taken out of a small circular plastic container and I never saw an actual package being opened to indicate for sure that a needle was being used for the first time.
Avatar m tn ve contacted my health department, local AIDS clinic, and walk-in labs and they only perform more basic HIV testing. I will likely have to go to a primary care physician for the PCR and Duo. Have you heard anything about whether they are generally covered by insurance? Do you recommend I go to any form of specialist? Perhaps I could ask my health department or local AIDS clinic if they're aware of a PCP that specializes in this treatment?
Avatar n tn You have HIV specialist Doctors on here telling people 4 weeks depending on the risk is ok and you could live with that---and then you guys over here telling people that 4 weeks is ****---well I trust someone who is actually doing the test on me to give me the right info----I am done with this site. AIDSMEDS is fantastic--this place create anxiety!
