Avatar f tn Hi, How are you? While there is no definite cure for chron's disease and the condition is marked by periods of improvement followed by flare-ups of symptoms, it is very important to stay on medications long-term to try to keep the disease symptoms from returning. No specific diet has been shown to improve or worsen symptoms in Crohn's disease and specific food problems may vary from person to person.
48668 tn?1201543083 Both diseases are thought to be caused by an autoimmune system malfunction. Although this is just a theory in the study of Crohn's Disease, it would tend to indicate that a child whose autoimmune system attacks his or her pancreas cells may also be a candidate for the autoimmune system causing problems elsewhere. Also, some researchers in Crohn's Disease treatments tend to believe that bacterial overgrowth can be the cause of some of the inflammation.
Avatar n tn I know I have something..have always struggled with constipation and gut pain...my father has UC and our daughter was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in Jan-08 - not in remission yet - we are going through the whole medicine thing - still hasn't found the one that works yet....she has chronic constipation with her condition...and I just feel like **** sometimes...I can't afford to be sick....
Avatar n tn I was not familiar with "Perianal Abscesses" so I checked out a couple of sights. On one sight it did say that some people are more susceptible to perianal abscesses such as those that have: Diabetes, Aids or HIV, Crohn's or persons on medications that suppress the body's immune system, such as steroids (prednisone, methylprednisolone), or those undergoing chemotherapy for cancer ..........so I do not think that it is indictive of having Crohn's.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with Crohn's at 18, I'm 27 now. For the last 2 days I've been experience blood in my stool. I'm kind of worried it could be something serious. I've had crohn's flare ups and the pain is excruciating but the blood in stool hasn't come with any pain so far. I'd love to hear anyones opinion.
3242115 tn?1447004766 I was told I may have Crohn's Disease due to my symptoms and am waiting to hear back from a specialist as to when I can have a scope done. I also have suffered with Bulimia and know of a few cases where the eating disorder has in fact caused the disease due to the unhealthy ways of eating and then regurgitating the food back up.
Avatar n tn Hello, I had uncontrolled Crohn's back in 2006, ended up perforating my ilieum in 2007. I was on Asacol, Entocort, and numerous other drugs. Since my bowel resection, my symptoms went away...just as quickly as they came on. I stayed on Azothiaprine for 2 years 2007 to Dec 2009 but have now stopped that too. I don't know if this helps but I eat off the Maker's Diet, which is basically just eating raw, unprocessed foods, organic. It tastes great and I feel better.
Avatar f tn What are the symptoms for an Crohn's disease? Can it lead to any kinda complication like Arthritis? Anyone can explain it precisely?
Avatar f tn For several years now I have been suffering from abdominal pain on my right side as well as acid reflux, nauseau, vomitting, constipation and diarhea. Since 2001 I have had several surgeries to try and fix the problem. They include: having my gall bladder removed, two surgeries for endometriosis, a total hysterectomy and my appendix removed. The doctors that I see have done several tests including a pill cam, several ct's, xrays and blood work.
Avatar n tn Oral manifestations of Crohn's disease are granulomatous lesions. It rarely involves periodntal tissue. However, Crohn's disease may be associated with food intolerance.
Avatar f tn They did do a biopsy of the stomach area. The only change in bowel habbits are the bloody stools. I also had a colonoscopy. My colonoscopy was normal. I have been wondering about crohn's because, amongst everything else, I have a very noisy stomach. My weight is up and down with in 20 lbs, depends on how much food hurts when i eat it. I would have assumed that the gastroenterologist would have been able to detect Crohn's, but again that is an assumption.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I still in my early 30s so maybe Crohn's can still appear until you are 35. The cramping and oily stools with diarrhea that I used to have a lot a few years earlier seem to indicate Crohn's but I don't get cramping anymore. I'm just worried that something I took messed up my immune system like isoprinosine or the antibiotics I was on.
Avatar m tn Humira or adalimumab is a biological response modifier and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocker. Thus, in Crohn’s it will modify your body’s response to disease (bloating, tenderness, diarrhea, indigestion etc). This is because any immune mediated disease like Crohn’s produces excess of an inflammatory protein called TNF-alpha, which causes cellular damage along with pain and inflammation. Humira blocks the action of TNF.
Avatar n tn Hi Pamela, sorry to hear of your health problems. Has your doctor considered Crohn's disease? This is an auto-immune disease where the body attacks its' own tissue, in this particular disease, the large and small intestines. Crohn's usually, but not always, starts around the terminal ileum, the last part of the small intestine, which is situated next to the appendix. Appendicitis is usually suspected because of the location of the severe, debilitating pain.

Avatar n tn Is crohn's disease hereditary? My grandson’s Dad has crohn's. My grandson is only 3 years old. He suffers with severe diarrhea frequently. Should we be concerned at 3?
Avatar n tn Hello, There are many possibilities to your symptoms. The most likely one is appendicitis(inflammation of the appendix).Others are irritable bowel syndrome(irregular bowel movements of constipation and diarrhea along with the pain and nausea are there), Crohn's disease(Crohn's disease most commonly affects the last part of the small intestine, usually located in the right lower abdomen) ,kidney infections, intestinal obstruction, mesenteric occlusion or enteritis.
10791691 tn?1412820023 Uh sorry again I have just checked what it was, and I have done a CT scan already. The doctors looked at it and said it was fine... Do you still think it could be Crohn's Disease?
Avatar f tn I would definitely recommend finding a doctor who will do a colonoscopy. I'm surprised they didn't do a double endoscopy in the first place. Both Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis (UC) would show up in a colonoscopy. Crohn's can show up in an upper GI, but many people only have Crohn's in the lower portion. UC would only be seen in a colonoscopy because it does not go above the large intestine.
Avatar n tn s disease, especially if the disease is severe, can be fatal if perforations are not caught in time. Both of these conditions can cause anemia from blood loss as well as nutritional deficiencies and dehydration. Along with these serious complications, there are other things to be concerned about such as extra-intestinal manifestations - eye, skin and joint diseases.
Avatar m tn Hi there, Sorry to hear what you have been going through. My guess would be that you could be suffering from Crohn's Disease? but I am not a Professional and the upcomping Colonoscopy will give the Doctors a bit more answers and either rule out or confirm Crohn's. Please keep us informed! all the best with the upcoming tests.
