Avatar m tn As there was no improvement. Doctor adviced to have Exemptia (Adalimumab) injection. 4 injections (40mg 8ml) was given. Next day he was having stomach pain, tight and rigid stomach, and fast breathing. He was immediately admitted in the nearby hospital and doctor found he was suffering from megacolon (toxic colon). After taking x-ray and CT scan, it was found that there was perforation in his stomach.
Avatar n tn Yesterday my rheumatologist has finally decided to give me something other than anti-inflammatories and anti-depressants for my list of symptoms which he has decided are due to either Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis (Palindromic Rheumatism was mentioned too) or possibly all of the above, with a side order of Fibromyalgia. Just wondering if anyone here has taken Humira (Adalimumab) as I've read about it and am freaking out a bit!
Avatar m tn Yes, Humira will indirectly help in controlling diarrhea and digestion. Let me explain this. Humira or adalimumab is a biological response modifier and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocker. Thus, in Crohn’s it will modify your body’s response to disease (bloating, tenderness, diarrhea, indigestion etc). This is because any immune mediated disease like Crohn’s produces excess of an inflammatory protein called TNF-alpha, which causes cellular damage along with pain and inflammation.
Avatar f tn I believe I read that they were going to do a middle length more interim trial, but that this was canceled, opting instead for a longer period more complete trial. I think one might infer that the INFORM 1 trial was successful enough that they decided to go for the gold. It appears that Vertex is pursuing that approach. They are immediately launching an intent to treat and cure trial.
Avatar n tn As most of us know Humira (adalimumab) reduces the effects of a substance in the body that can cause inflammation. Common Humira side effects may include: headache; nausea; cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sinus pain, sneezing, sore throat; rash; or redness, bruising, ITCHING, or swelling where the injection was given. So what you are experiencing is not unusual - however I think you should give your MD a call as Sherry also suggested. He/she needs to know about your reaction.
Avatar n tn My recommendation would be to have your vet run a complete blood profile which should help to reveal the actual cause of the joint issue. Auto-immune disorders are classic for canine rotating/shifting leg joint issues. I am glad to follow up on this with you.
Avatar m tn While it is antihistaminics, topical and oral steroids for eczema and antifungal for fungal infection, the treatment of psoriasis that have been approved by FDA are adalimumab and Xtrac Velocity excimer laser system. Apart from that, topical medications like emollients, creams containing coal tar, dithranol, corticosteroids, fluocinonide, vitamin D3 analogues and retinoids have been routinely used. So before using any treatment it is advisable to consult a dermatologist. I hope it helps.
220090 tn?1379167187 t noticed. Fingers crossed for your trial info in November. I guess the more recent trial is aimed at verifying reduced TX time for PI responders. It will all be interesting, can't wait.
Avatar f tn Renee, like you I am in a trial that doesn't reveal VL before week 12. And, I won't get another VL result until the end of therapy at week 24. The trials all have their own criterion or protocols. I hope that you can hang on until your 12 week results let you know how you are doing. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn exclude as much fats as possible from the diet. You can have a fat-free diet trial for 3-4 days, and see, if diarrhea will improve. Here's advice what to exclude: http://www.fatfreevegan.com/faqs.shtml It's a trial, not saying you should stick with no fat diet, just to see, if this helps. But. You should find the cause of diarrhea, which seems to be a bile flow blockage. HIDA scan may show the state of your bile ducts.
Avatar n tn I have brittle asthma. Ive been on a new trial of omalizumab wich helped my asthma immensely however I've had to stop the medication. It been two months since I stopped it and ive been waking up with a painful chest. Nasty cough and green phlegm. Its only in the morning and it seems to taper off during the day and gets bad at night again. I find it weird because with my asthma I usually get shortness of breath and its usually constant all day.
Avatar f tn Taper off the steroids to low potency ones after consulting your dermatologist. The drugs that have been approved by FDA are adalimumab and Xtrac Velocity excimer laser system. Apart from that, topical medications like emollients, creams containing coal tar, dithranol (anthralin), corticosteroids like desoximetasone (Topicort), fluocinonide, vitamin D3 analogues (for example, calcipotriol), and retinoids have been routinely used. Phototherapy containing UV A has also been employed.
Avatar m tn Hi I am in a 12 week trial sofosbuvir/ledipasvir . From what I have read on the internet , ion 1 ,2 , 3 and others almost everybody was undetected at week 4 using this combo . I tested <15 detetected at week 4 . I have my next viral load at week 8 and was told it is unnecessary to have another test done before then as I am going in the right direction down from 3 million . 277836 tn?1359666174 Your ophthalmologist can do a corneal topography to see if there is any irregular astigmatism; if there is, an in-office trial of a gas permeable contact lens could be done, to see if the vision improves. If the vision is crisp and clear with the gas permeable lens, then you could consider being fit with such a lens instead of wearing glasses. If the problem is not in the cornea and the lens is clear (no cataract), an evaluation with a retina specialist is in order.
Avatar m tn //www.healthcheckusa.com/Find-a-Blood-Test/46823/ Hypothyroidism can also affect a number of other areas as well. While thinking about your migraines, I recalled this info that I ran across recently. "Migraine often occurs as a result of low brain levels of magnesium. One clinical trial found that supplementing with magnesium caused the complete elimination of migraine pain within 15 minutes in 80% of migraine sufferers.

Avatar m tn Can anyone tell me if the phase 3 Vertex trial is one that is worth being in? They called me from the institute and told me I qualify for this trial and that there is no plecebo. I told them I would not do a trial if there was a plecebo. They said this phase there was none. I know nothing about this drug or the effects. I also have a chance to just do the regular interferon/rib. from a hospital at little cost to me. I don't have health ins. Any suggestions?
6843062 tn?1387857703 Also, if need be you an take aminosalicylates under expert guidance as this group of drugs does not affect the baby either in mother’s womb or during breast feeding. Biologic drugs such as adalimumab (Humira) and infliximab (Remicade) can also be started later in pregnancy. Discuss this with your doctor. Take care!
