1539111 tn?1293014306 I am sorry to hear that your son is having severe fatigue problems as a result of his Crohn's disease. You asked about methotrexate - I have had Crohn's for 40 yrs, diagnosed at 25 rs old in 1970 when the only drug to really treat this incurable disease was steroids. Some 9 years ago I found methotrexate on the internet and cajoled my then gastro to prescribe it, which he was not happy to do, as at that time it was "off label".
Avatar f tn They did do a biopsy of the stomach area. The only change in bowel habbits are the bloody stools. I also had a colonoscopy. My colonoscopy was normal. I have been wondering about crohn's because, amongst everything else, I have a very noisy stomach. My weight is up and down with in 20 lbs, depends on how much food hurts when i eat it. I would have assumed that the gastroenterologist would have been able to detect Crohn's, but again that is an assumption.
Avatar m tn or the infection my be caused by Megacolon after surgery. Please advice?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with Crohn's at 18, I'm 27 now. For the last 2 days I've been experience blood in my stool. I'm kind of worried it could be something serious. I've had crohn's flare ups and the pain is excruciating but the blood in stool hasn't come with any pain so far. I'd love to hear anyones opinion.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I still in my early 30s so maybe Crohn's can still appear until you are 35. The cramping and oily stools with diarrhea that I used to have a lot a few years earlier seem to indicate Crohn's but I don't get cramping anymore. I'm just worried that something I took messed up my immune system like isoprinosine or the antibiotics I was on.
Avatar m tn hi. i am being treated with shots for a b12 deficiency (which they thought was due to crohn's but was ruled as IBS). i also have hypthyroidism. lately i have been getting small bumps inside my mouth on the inside of my lips. these bumps do not appear to be blisters, just raised skin. after a few hours they go down and im left with a PAINLESS red sore. they disappear completely within 36-48 hours. im very confused about what this is. is it related to the b12 deficiency?
Avatar n tn Yesterday my rheumatologist has finally decided to give me something other than anti-inflammatories and anti-depressants for my list of symptoms which he has decided are due to either Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis (Palindromic Rheumatism was mentioned too) or possibly all of the above, with a side order of Fibromyalgia. Just wondering if anyone here has taken Humira (Adalimumab) as I've read about it and am freaking out a bit!
333123 tn?1246285067 I actually was pregnant with Crohn's and didn't even know that was what I had until several months after I had the baby and was diagnosed with Crohns. I had severe constipation and bad cramping during pregnancy but besides that everything went just fine. My baby was born beautiful and healthy and I was on tons of different meds at the time cause my ob-gyn was trying to figure out what was wrong with me and none of them harmed the baby.
Avatar n tn Hi Pamela, sorry to hear of your health problems. Has your doctor considered Crohn's disease? This is an auto-immune disease where the body attacks its' own tissue, in this particular disease, the large and small intestines. Crohn's usually, but not always, starts around the terminal ileum, the last part of the small intestine, which is situated next to the appendix. Appendicitis is usually suspected because of the location of the severe, debilitating pain.
Avatar m tn After recovering from the flu, I started experiencing abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, gas, itchy rectum, mucus in stool. My gastro-enterologist diagnosed me with SIBO and I was given antibiotics for 3 weeks (3 pills per day). During that time, I was also suffering from a sinus infection and chronic post nasal drip and the ENT gave me more antibiotics.
Avatar n tn Hello, There are many possibilities to your symptoms. The most likely one is appendicitis(inflammation of the appendix).Others are irritable bowel syndrome(irregular bowel movements of constipation and diarrhea along with the pain and nausea are there), Crohn's disease(Crohn's disease most commonly affects the last part of the small intestine, usually located in the right lower abdomen) ,kidney infections, intestinal obstruction, mesenteric occlusion or enteritis.
Avatar f tn I have been having a vague pain in my right abdomen to the right of the navel and sometimes a little bit to the right and below the navel the pain is sometimes like a pinching feeling ... along with the pain yesterday the 4th of october. I was feeling lightheaded most of the day. I have also lost at least 10 lbs. If not more unintentionally in the last month or two. .. What could this be ?
Avatar m tn I am a 27 year old male with constant stomach issues. I had an appointment yesterday to have a colonoscopy, Afterwards before I was awake the doctor had told my mother, (wife is a teacher and couldn't be there at the time) he told her he had found tumors. Later he made the comment it could be Crohn's though "he had never seen Crohn's look like that. He made a comment to me where he said in his 31 years as a surgeon he had never seen anything like that.
10791691 tn?1412820023 Hi, I have been experiencing pain in my upper abdomen for the past few months. The doctors thought it was Appendicitis at first, because the pain was in the lower abdomen at first, and took me off food, scanned my abdomen, did everything they were supposed to do for Appendicitis, but they found nothing out of the ordinary. Fast forward to another month or so. The pain moved upwards, to my upper abdomen, and the doctors couldn't help me at all.

Avatar n tn As most of us know Humira (adalimumab) reduces the effects of a substance in the body that can cause inflammation. Common Humira side effects may include: headache; nausea; cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sinus pain, sneezing, sore throat; rash; or redness, bruising, ITCHING, or swelling where the injection was given. So what you are experiencing is not unusual - however I think you should give your MD a call as Sherry also suggested. He/she needs to know about your reaction.
955117 tn?1246473081 When I got up about 7 hours later, I found that I had,(unawaredly), gone to the bathroom in bed. No urine - just watery diarrhea. I found the need to use the bathroom when I got up and had full control of my bowels. I didn't go to bed drunk or anything like that. What could be the problem?
Avatar f tn My daughter is in her 50's and has had Crohn's most of her life. Surgeries resulted in her losing feet of intestines. My question is this...It's possible to replace many parts in the human body, hearts, liver, lungs, skin etc...so why can't the intestine be replaced?
Avatar f tn I would definitely recommend finding a doctor who will do a colonoscopy. I'm surprised they didn't do a double endoscopy in the first place. Both Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis (UC) would show up in a colonoscopy. Crohn's can show up in an upper GI, but many people only have Crohn's in the lower portion. UC would only be seen in a colonoscopy because it does not go above the large intestine.
649926 tn?1297657780 Thank you everyone for sharing in my relief! I am so relieved to have that off of the table and am now a bit nervous to have my MRI's and see the MS specialist. I have been on the Avonex for 16 weeks and am having a flare including optic neuritis now. What will the MRI say and what will the doctor say????? Will she keep me on it or take me off like they did the Copaxone? Well at least I don't have long to wait.
Avatar n tn Yup, I have Crohn's and actually had a flare up in my eyes. I just thought that my eyes weren't getting enough oxygen due to an overuse of my contacts, but unfortunately that was not the case. I have white blood cells in my eyes (apparently that's not so good), and my eyes were all red and there was a nodule on the surface of one of the eyes. Ironically the doctor had to give me Prednisone drops to make it all go away...good times.
Avatar n tn It is important to realise that there are no pain sensors in the lining of the gut, however, increase in pressure on the wall of the gut can produce pain - however the gut is poor at localising this pain. When this pressure is in the splenic region it is often sensed as a pain in the chest. Another possibility is an issue with the spleen itself. The spleen is involved in he breakdown of red blood cells, which could under certain circumstances account for the anemia.
1440074 tn?1283996071 starting on Sunday, I have been having very severe anal spasms along with a ton of pain, and some itching. It is very hard to sleep at night due to the pain. I have not been constipated, so I don't think it would be hemmorroids. It does not hurt to go to the bathroom either. The pain is pretty constant with spasms very often, and when I have a spasm the pain is so intense that it causes my entire body to tremble. I would describe the pain as almost like a bite near my butthole.
Avatar f tn ve tried indigestion tablets, solutions and changing my diet but it is chronic and has been going on for a long time. There is no heartburn or reflux, just a very full, heavy feeling in my stomach, pain, nausea and feeling full even when I haven't eaten much. I have crohn's disease, coeliac disease, pancreatic insufficiency and no longer have a gallbladder. My diet and medications have not changed recently so are unlikely to be causing the new indigestion extremes. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Psoriasis is a long-term (chronic) skin problem that causes skin cells to grow too quickly, resulting in thick, white, silvery, or red patches of skin.It is thought that psoriasis occurs when the immune system overreacts, causing inflammation and flaking of skin. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
