from 8 week to 12 week I was under high dose of acyclovir. I had a herpes break out and also 2 weeks after I got chicken pox. Therefore I went through longer acyclovir course.
Then I had my test at 14 week. It was a P24 antigen and antibody test (Hiv duo test) It came back negative but I'm still worried as high dose of acyclovir might alter the result.
Will it effect the virus replication and antibody production?

The antiviral drug Acyclovir that you have been prescribed is usually done by doctors for chicken pox because it is a viral infection. Because chickenpox is a viral disease, antibiotics are ineffective. Antibiotics may be prescribed if the blisters become infected. Calamine lotion helps to reduce itchiness. You can apply that also.

I am also 23 and I had shingles when I was 19. Its an adult form of the chicken pox and I know it hurts like hell. Unfortunately it will last for a month after you start your meds. You should see another doctor because if in fact you have shingles, it's a virus like the chicken pox, and antibotics won't do anything. You need a viral med. I was prescribed valtrex.
I got the chicken pox vaccine and i got the chicken pox when i was 5. My immunologist thought I had something called hyper ige syndrome but my results for that were negative. They don't really know why i keep having reoccurring shingles but i think it's mostly because I have a bad immune system and I do get stressed easily.
On Monday I was still itching so bad I went to the clinic and that Dr advised me that I had Chicken Pox....I feel bad... My head hurts... my lymph nodes in the back of my neck are swollen and hurt.... Behind my eyes hurt... My mouth is dry...and I am still itching but some of the places do have a scab on them. I guess my question is can chicken pox make you feel like this?? Or should I still be worried about something else?????
I got a bunch of vaccines for nursing school about two weeks ago, including the chicken pox vacc. Well here we are two weeks later and I have chicken pox. I feel flu like symptoms, yesterday was the worst, joint aches. I have probably less than 50-70 pox marks, very few are crusted over, they mainly look like bug bites, some to itch. Then again this is only day 3. I got put on Acyclovir today 800mg 4 times daily.
not sure, but it is frustrating.... No other symptoms, no fever, ALL STDs tests came negative. (BTW, I have history of chicken pox 20 years ago when i was a teenager)

t get any cluster of blisters in anywhere of my body so i checked with dermatologist he told me its chicken pox then two days later it becomes red some more tiny blisters appears and scap over they were red in colour but previous ones were still water filled only few were bit big. After taking acyclovir for 3days no new blisters appeared but after two days i got one in face then i cont.. medication for two more days that becomes 8 days then after also big ones didnt drain and scap over.
My youngest daughter(7) has had the chicken pox vaccine. Is she more likely to get chicken pox from a person with shingles or chicken pox? I understand that she has had the vaccine, I just do not know if she has a better chance of getting chicken pox from a person with chicken pox or is she more likley to get it from a person with shingles, if she were to get it?
Are you stressing your self too much after the event? like sleepless nights, skipping meals etc? Chicken pox is a type of herpes virus. It has got nothing to do with diagnosis of HIV. Shingle out breaks are often seen when body is stressed, crash dieting or when the digestive system is at toss at a greater level. If you have chicken pox, please start the medications as this virus is contagious.
chicken pox isn't going to show up on this many body parts over this period of time. I'm assuming you were vaccinated for it and even if you didn't get enough protection from the vaccine and did actually get chicken pox, you'd feel a lot sicker along with this rash. Adults who get chicken pox are miserable!!!
You need to see your doctor today or tomorrow for this rash. odds are this is something else going on.
As far as I am aware..Shingles stays in spinal fluid after childhood chicken pox, I was told I did not have a severe enough case of the "pox" to clear it out entirely. Stress only makes it worse, so I hope you can relax.
As to where my shingles occured? once around rib cage, and twice around shoulder, and down my arm.

Started off like this: Two weeks ago on a Monday between 6-7 p.m. I grabbed a pair of pants off the floor right next to my laundry basket. I put them on and was headed to my universities comuter lab.
It is rare for someone whose already been exposed to chicken pox to develop it again but it can happen. Also, pregnant women are more susceptible to diseases and therefore you *SHOULD* take precautions around someone who has chicken pox. Don't touch their sores (use a cotton ball to apply the medication) and wash your hands often.

I waited another 2 weeks and at 3 moths and 2 weeks I had a rapid blood test at a clinic and came back negative. Then I at 3 months and 3 weeks I got Chicken pox doctor gave me acyclovir anti viral. Then at 4 months I had another rapid blood test at the clinic and came back negative. But my fears were too much therefore I had another blood test at 4 months and 3 weeks. It was a HIV duo test at he clinic and it came back negative.
