Actonel problems

Common Questions and Answers about Actonel problems

Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.
Avatar m tn so after she stopped taking them; the problems disappeared. but now the question is what other drugs can she take without affecting her jaw & teeth? in fact I've done some search; and found that most of the famous drugs for Osteoporosis like Actonel, Didronel, Fosamax, Boniva, Reclast & so on has bone loss in the jaw as of one their major side affects. so what she can take for her Osteoporosis without being afraid of bone loss in her jaw?
Avatar f tn 00) I was then referred to an endocrinologist. After eight months taking Levothyroxine 50ug and Fosamax - without any real problems - I have now discovered that although my TSH level has reduced (2.45) my Gamma levels (liver) have gone through the ceiling (Gamma G.T. before the medication was 19UI/l - normal range is from 0 - 36. now it's 183 UI/l. Has anybody else had any problems with liver blood work after taking this medication?

Avatar f tn I am already showing signs that i will end up with osteoporosis in my hips and who knows where else. I have been put on on actonel to try to basically fool my bones into trying to regrow some of the bone density I lost from Depo. After coming off depo I tried the mirena (a newer plastic IUD), which expelled itself, painfully i might add, causing infection.
Avatar m tn , my apologies for the double post) She has a history of cartilage loss in an ankle (due to an injury sustained while in her thirties) for which she has been given medications including cynabisk (phonetically spelled, my apologies, I will attempt to get a complete list) which was discontinuedabout a year and a half ago. Currently she is taking Actonel (Risedronate) for which I have found some information suggesting it may be related (rhinitus, sinusitis): 1. quoted from: http://www.merck.
Avatar n tn Your doctor can easily change this drug to another if you want. One may develop some kind of intestinal problems with Actonel and the alternative to that is to not to take drug empty stomach, that is to take it after a meal. Please let us know if you may have nay other queries and what your doctor says. Good luck.

Avatar f tn I can't believe that at my age , this is a huge problem for me. I am taking Paxil and for the last 10 years I was taking Actonel, until my doctor suggested I stop because of medical reports showing after long use, it stops working. I know the 2 problems are not linked, but still remain a concern. Is there a medication to stop me from my late night binges. This is when I eat the most. It seems there would be an appetite supressant that would be helpful.

1139187 tn?1355710247 I'll let you know the results when I get them. I am also taking Actonel 150mg monthly for the osteoporosis. As far as side effects, I have not experienced any in any form. Everything appears all right down below. If I recall, I was on 2 actuations per day for about 6 months and then had a t-level taken which dictated increasing the dose to 3 actuations. In another 6 months, the same story, so I was increased to 4 actuations.
719868 tn?1230425675 I take 2 0.5mcg of calcitriol and about 2500 mg of calcium supplements a day. I also take Crestor for high cholesterol becasue I guess my parathroid disorder is causing my liver to overproduce now. lovely!
Avatar n tn Tina, I can't help you with the question of if you get osteo effects from treatment, but I can tell you that I am on Actonel along with doing treatment. I developed osteoperosis at 42 years old and before treatment. I think that based on my experience, I would say that osteo effects (I also have osteoarthritis) may come from the hcv, not the treatment for hcv. That would just be my guess.
Avatar n tn I recommend checking out the website "Save Our Bones". It is an alternative to using bisphosphonates (Fosamax, Boniva, Actonel, et al) These drugs interrupt the remodeling of bones by adding a "sheath" or layer of hardening to the outside of the bones in an effort to prevent bone "loss". Bones remodel (replace) naturally every few years. One of the problems with bones is our diets are often highly acidic by processed foods.
Avatar n tn You don't give your age, other problems like diabetes, high BP, CAD, and what other medications you are taking, so it's difficult to respond. I'm not a health professional. However, I have a PFO as does about 1/4 of all people, have moderate MVP and work out daily, and don't have the symptoms you have. I'd be very careful about having a procedure that may not be needed.
Avatar f tn which has fallen out of favor as it usually does not work very well and has the risk of over-treatment which can cause heart rhythm problems and bone loss. Some experts argue that all nodules >4cm (40mm) should be removed as FNA biopsy may not be as acurate in this setting.
Avatar n tn Since I have been have had a thyroid problem I have suffered with a lot of bone pain which they chalk up to low bone density. I can't take the medication like Actonel or Fosamax because they give me severe headaches. Back to the DDD. I can only stand up for about 10 to 15 minutes before the pain sets in. When I stand too long, by the time I sit, I am so stiff and in so much pain, I can hardly move. I am not overweight at all and get alot of exercise by working on my farm.
Avatar n tn female, 50, aortic valve replacement and aneurysm repair in 1999, on coumadin, Tegretol (for complex partial seizures), Actonel and Crestor. (I recently switched to this from Lipitor). Last echo fine except for mild mitral regrug and mild mitral annular calcification. All blood work fine - bad cholesterol is 118 but good cholesterol is 105. Trigclyerides about 50. Fasting glucose fine.
