Avatar m tn Physiologically, bones are composed of calcium phosphate salts (65%) for hardness, and a collagen matrix (35%), for flexibility. If a bone is placed in an acid bath and all the calcium is removed from it, leaving just the collagen matrix, when subjected to stress it will bend, not break. Conversely, if the collagen matrix is removed and all that remains are the calcium salts, when subjected to stress it will shatter.

1052851 tn?1307744760 I am taking calcium suppliments, and vitamin D, but it has seemed to have caused gallstones in me now. The Dr. gave me Actonel, but I also suffer from IBS, and it really made me sick to my stomach, as does drinking milk or eating anything with a high calcium content, aside from sardines. When I first started (IV once per month) i had fever and fly symptoms, but after a few treatments this stopped. Sometimes i fall asleep after the infusion, and go to bed early but no biggie.
