Zoloft dosing for anxiety

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft dosing for anxiety

zoloft

Avatar f tn upped to 40 and it worked fine, but I gained so much weight that I asked to be taken off. I was put on zoloft 50 mgs. I was fine for 2 years on 50 mgs but then got another bout with anxiety. I was bumped up to 100 mgs and within 3 weeks, I was fine. Now six months after I was bumped up to 100 mgs. I have it again. The Dr. has bumped it up to 125 and if that doesn't work, 150mgs. My question is why is this happening. I have the everyday stresses I normally have.
Avatar f tn ve been taking a very low dose of Zoloft (25 mg) for a whole year now - prescribed for severe stomach knots and panic attacks, and other physical symptoms of anxiety. I've been diagnosed with panic disorder and social anxiety disorder. The low dose (25 mg) is the only only dose I've been able to tolerate all along - higher doses gave me over the top side effects - unbearable, made me feel worse!
445263 tn?1208801416 I have a question about Zoloft dosing. I have been prescribed a dose of 50mg. I have been taking half of that dose (25mg, of course) for about a month now. I've noticed my depression lift exponentially; still experience some anxiety and anx attacks, though nothing I can't cognitively deal with. I have always been scared of taking any medication that changes my mood, of course (anxiety), and therefore haven't taken any of the meds prescribed at their prescribed dose.
Avatar m tn the doc put me on 50mg Zoloft i have been on it for about 8 days and its giving me insomnia. I took zoloft about 2 years ago and it did this briefly and then quit (hoping it will stop again). The doc thought about putting me on Cymbalta instead but i went with the Zoloft since i had taken it before and it was "okay"/ some positve help..
Avatar n tn You mean for a total of 600 Mg of Zoloft, 450 Mg Effexor and 900 Mg of Gabapentin each day? If so you better talk to your doctor about this dosing. 250 mg of Zoloft (per day) is about the Max and 350 Mg of Effexor per day is about max also. Not sure on the other drug. Either way those dosages sound high to me.
Avatar m tn Tryin zoloft worsened my anxiety and takin myself off of it was even worse but it sounds like its been workin for u. I think youre jst worried becuz u missed a dose.
Avatar m tn In my experiennce with anxiety (I also have taken Zoloft on and off for years), it can have its peaks and valleys....it definitely is not static. In my opinion, we can start to worry or feel anxious at different times and sometimes we look for a root physical cause when many times it could be just our nerves. Are you also in counseling? For me, the combination of medication and counseling seemed to help me confront and get long term relief from my anxiety.
Avatar f tn Not sure about the pill , but call the dr or even your drug store where you got it filled they can tell you Let me say, I have had anxiety since I was 19 it's been a long hard road but with the help of my awesome hubby , his support I've made it threw some hard days You need a good support , that you can call, talk to,lean on, someone who's there for you and helps you get threw the anxiety times You can do it, try to get your mind on some thing other than how your feeling, stay bu
470964 tn?1240246255 i take zoloft 100mg for anxiety/depression. i also take topamax for migraines. i started at 50 mg (25 mg am & pm) . yesterday my doc increased the topamax to 75 mg (50mg am & 25 pm). i was so focused on making sure i took the right amount of topamax that i can't remember if i took my zoloft or not. i counted my pills, but i'm still not sure if i took today's dose of zoloft or not.
Avatar m tn This is going to be kind of stupid to ask because I'm sure nearly all of you have been prescribed zoloft for depression, if you've been prescribed it before... but how did zoloft work for your anxiety? They prescribed me some during my hospital stay for my anxiety. I'm already less jittery but feeling anxious a bit still but I know that will take a week or so to take full effect.
Avatar f tn t working for her and she needs something to get her acute symptoms under control so that the therapy can begin to work, but I am far from certain that Zoloft is the right thing for that. She has always been an emotional person but never suffered anxiety disorders that I'm aware of prior to this.
Avatar f tn Been on zoloft for 10 years on and off. After I lost my mom suddenly 2 years ago I upped my dose to 100 mg. 2 months ago I had an drug reaction with an antibiotic I was prescribed. The ER doc told me to stop taking my zoloft. I did for 4 days (huge mistake). I started up again back on my 100 mg and of course had all the start up effects which have all gone except tightness uncomfortable feeling in my stomach especially in the mornings. I take my zoloft at night before bed.
1650822 tn?1313332087 I am on Lexapro 20mg and Klonopin. I was on Zoloft and Xanax but had bad reaction.
1211508 tn?1343079605 Hi nursegirl. We have become kinda friends through this lol. You are absolutely right...I am grasping at straws. I'm just so desperate to feel normal again that I'm willing to have a few drink a day if that's what it takes--but I never wanted to become a massive alcoholic and be dead in 10 years. So based on what I've heard from you I'm pretty much set on starting Zoloft. The reasons I haven't yet are many.
Avatar f tn Hey so today my phsychiatrist prescribed Zoloft which she said is for depression and for anxiety so what are your experiences about this medicine.
Avatar f tn As I said Zoloft was a wonderful drug for me and worked great for my panic attacks and anxiety to where they were completely gone for years, and it may not work for you at all. You just need to try and see what happens that is the best you can do!!
Avatar f tn The primary doctor said i have virual virus do to allergies, so i saw my doctor who precribed me the Zoloft he said not take zoloft for two weeks until i get better from this virual virus then try the zoloft again if you have reaction to it stop the zoloft then wait a week and try different medicine called citalpram 20mm. i am so sacred to taking any medicine because i am so sentitive to medicine anyway.
Avatar n tn s advice and what should I do about this I have a severe case of adhd mixed with anxiety and I am a grown adult that needs medication for my adhd for school and work and I get really frustrated that my parents don't let me control my own meds in general they know I don't abbuse it but every time I need my meds I have ask them and it makes my anxiety act up even more cuz I have to call them tell them I need my meds and it's annoying because they r not always their how can I get them t
Avatar f tn I started at 25mg for a week and then 50mg for a month and then 75mg for another month up to 100mg where I stayed for 3 months. I got better and went back down to 50mg and then quit altogether after 8 months of treatment. I did great. No problems at all. Fast forward to October 2015 and I got a back injury followed by a health scare after an affair while I was separated in summer 2014. Found out I was pregnant and diagnosed with ectopic though it turned out to be a blighted ovum.
1243620 tn?1274790697 I take Propanolol for a tremor and have for many years while going from Prozac to Zoloft, and Lexapro with no problems. It is prescribed for various reasons with anxiety being one. But it is short acting meaning it doesn't stay in your system for more than a few hours. Many who take it for anxiety are public speakers who need to calm down right before making a speech. If your anxiety is severe there may be better ones for you, but only your doctor will know.
Avatar m tn Not sure how much your on or if your dosing once or twice a day. Call your doctor, the first time I was on suboxone I experienced some anxiety and the doctor prescribed Vistaril which is not addictive, but does make you sleepy at first. Call your doctor, as I'm sure they'll have some suggestions for you. Hang in there.
Avatar f tn Dr wanted to switch me symbalta (looked it up--said it was for bi-polar). I requested to try to go off zoloft. She said to take one every other day for two weeks and then quit. Keep taking Klonopin. Now I see Klonopin withdrawal and side affects are bad and maybe I'm getting symptoms from that too? This is the first morning I was to not take zoloft but heard tapering slowly is better, so took half (will do for two weeks) and then down to .
Avatar f tn So, you have been on Zoloft total for 4 days and are on 25 mg? To ease your mind, that is an extremely low dose with most being on over 100 mg. What you are experiencing are transient or 'start up' side effects. I don't think it is low blood sugar that you are experiencing but you can always get that checked. Shakyness can happen as these types of drugs are introduced. But it should go away fairly quickly.
Avatar n tn I have been on the antidepressant rollercoaster for about 22 years---and dealing with depression and anxiety for over 40 years. I had a horrible time tolerating the side effects, so i could not take most of them. if I managed to find one that would actually help---it would only last for a few months---and then poop out on me. I also tried ECT--but quit after 3 sessions--getting there was too complicated.
4502768 tn?1538777982 I started taking Celexa 10mg on January 28th for seven days. On February 4th I increased to 20mg and have been taking it ever since in the morning. During the whole course of these past few weeks I have only experienced one literally anxiety free day. I do take my Clonazepam 0.5mg twice a day to try and control as much anxiety as it can. The thing is, is it too soon to see any improvements??
Avatar m tn s all in my open Journals in this forum). I was already on xanax, then my Dr. tried for 2 years to get me to take zoloft , I would not, then I started it and it aided in weaming off xanax, then I weamed of zoloft, I was out driving again , even went on 1000 mile drive by myself for hockey! (prior to this , I was close to be homebound)!
Avatar f tn If you had been on Zoloft for 6 years and then stopped it, I can only hope that it was under the guidance and surpervision of your doctor. If it was, he should have put you on a very slow taper and if you found yourself having some anxiety issues during the taper, he should have also given you a short acting benzo to help with those symptoms.
Avatar f tn It definitely takes some time to adjust to medication and medications may not reach their full effect until you have been taking them for 4-6 weeks. I think if your brother has been taking Zoloft for over a week or two and is really not liking the way it makes him feel, he needs to talk to his doctor and maybe move on to something different. Hope this helps some! Good luck to your brother!
Avatar f tn Thinking about trying Lexapro for generalized anxiety. Any advice or experiences? I have previously tried Buspar (had no effect) and Zoloft which made me constantly nauseous.
