Zoloft and xanax taken together

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft and xanax taken together

zoloft

I think the important thing is to take it for a few weeks and work through any initial side effects you may experience - these typically pass over this time frame and the therapeutic effect will start to take place. Yes - zoloft and clozenpam can be taken together.
I have taken Zoloft (which I actually prefer) and Klonopin together in the past. For me, it has really worked combined with talk therapy. I would have panic attacks at night, which could be from the medication, but can also be from the disorder as well. I firmly believe it was the latter and not the former with me. When do you take the Zoloft?
just my opinion....i was started on zoloft and xanax for panic/anxiety attacks. The longer I was on the zoloft the less I need the xanax. In fact, I haven't taken xanax in years.....the zoloft has totally controlled my attacks.
i dont agree with all the negativity associated with xanax, sure they can be abused and ultimately control your life if you let them. but if taken the right way they are an absolute miracle drug for panic attacks/anxiety disorder. i have been down the road of abuse i was taking up to 10 mg per day for a yr. or more. i finally tapered off and quit all together . but then i got back on them about two yrs. ago and i take 3 mg aday and i never do more than that sometimes i do less!
Like previously said from other posts-some people can actually have seizures or life threatening problems from stopping xanax cold turkey. I believe this is when someone has taken routinely for some time-and may not apply to people who just use it recreationally.
I take xoloft and xanax, and have taken them together for over 10 years. I took Xanax exclusively for a number of years before that. Let me just say, there may be memory loss in association with taking this medication, but it allows me to live a somewhat normal life; not housebound, and able to attend church, weddings, etc. Write directly to me at ***@**** if I can be of any further help. Help is out there now......get it, don't stay afraid forever, because you don't have to anymore.
Now my untreated Severe Depression and Anxiety made me feel Psychotic. The Zoloft and Xanax worked to make me feel normal, focused, calm, and level headed. It would be important for me to mention that I was also 25 years old before I was treated with AD medication to correct my severe symptoms. I have heard stories of people under the age of 20 having adverse Psychotic reactions to SSRI medications like Zoloft.
I have now been put on 50 grams of zoloft a day, and also two dormicum sleeping tablets a day, and also 2 to 3 mg of xanax. The problem is that I am now still feeling so depressed and partly anxious, i have been taking extra .5 grams of xanax to calm down.i know this is idiotic and alsobeen trying take extra meds a day to just get through.
Has anyone taken Zoloft and had it affect there nsvt?? I have nsvt and im afraid to take Zoloft. Any suggestions?
I just wish that so many people put so many negative posts about xanax and ZOLOFT!! ZOLOFT AND WILL POWER/BRAIN POWER IS GOING TO CURE YOU!!
ativan(lorazepam) is very similar benzodiazepine in chemical structure and in its effects to alprazolam(xanax) and also shares the same abuse, dependence, and addiction liability. i was taking originally 6mgs a night for insomnia and panic attacks starting at the early evening and taking it up to going to bed.
When I was talking to her my mind was racing and I was really shaky. I don't think the Zoloft is helping and I don't know about the Klonopin yet. I hate to go back to the doctor and talk about his with him. You think he would've realized how bad the situation is when the counselor called his nurse and was explaining what was going on. Like I said, she didn't see how we could make any progress talking until we get my anxiety off the high level it is now. What do you think I should do?
) Having taken Zoloft in the past and which I am currently on, it can really tend to cause more anxiety especially in the beginning. In my experience, I was much more on edge whenever I started or adjusted the dose, but sometimes I did not know if this was from my existing depression and anxiety or from the medication. There is a black box warning on all SSRIs for the risk of suicidal thinking in young persons (I believe 24 and younger). With age comes wisdom, and an ability to cope I guess.
I am not sure if that is from the Zoloft or anxiety. I did not get a script for Xanax. I took Xanax last year and did not like it. I was too scared to try it again. I found that when the Xanax wore off my anxiety was worse than before I took one. I have been dealing with this anxiety for a while now, so I am happy to FINALLY be doing something about it! Thank you for your help! I am thankful people like you are here to help others' out!
yes xanax and alchol are a deadly mix... take it from me! I was prescribed xanax and zoloft about a month ago for anxioty and depression.... I was aware of the dangers of mixing xanax with alchol and considered my self a responsible adult. But as of last friday night 12/15/07 I didn't take the drug xanax mixed with alchol seriouly enough. I had taken 2/ .5 ml for a total of 1ml of xanax at aproximatly 10:00 pm that evening....
i h avent had a attack in 5 years suddenly i was haveing stress at work and had 1 and was put on zoloft and xanax and have felt like crap since. had to take 2 weeks off work even because this made me so physically sick .
I was in a birth club and everyone seemed to be going through the same thing, so I figured it was normal. After I was prescribed Zoloft, didn't work and Xanax but only 10 by my OB. I hated the Zoloft after a month but loved the Xanax. I had to get a primary care provider to get more. In the meantime a family member gave me a ton of Xanax. I was popping them like candy because I had no idea how bad they were. I was given 1 mg a day by my new care provider.
I have been battling depression and anxiety ever since i was a teenager (I am now 31 years of age). After trying out Paxil, Wellbutrin and Zoloft over the last 5 years (always short term ) and disliking all of them, I have been on Effexor for the past year. I am taking 2 x 37.5 mg a day. Some side effects occured during this time, like increased sweating and sexual dysfunction, but all in all i was content and improved immensely. Also, seeing a therapist helps a lot.
Does anyone know of any possible interaction between xanax and prozac taken together? My doctor says he's not aware of anything, But I just wanted to get some opinions from people who may have first hand knowledge or know of someone who does. So I guess do benzos and ssri's mix well? I really need the xanax untill the prozac can kick in. And I really need the prozac because I can't keep taking this xanax, the prescribed dose is already losing it's effect.
okay, I'm kina freaking out. My doctor told me to stop taking paxil all together and start taking zoloft. I'm scared to do this. Will I have crazy withdraw symptoms or more anxiety? I'm just really really scared.
I was in therapy for panic and anxiety -and those problems had been solved. I was no longer on any meds for them. But my shrink and I both thought that I might be dealing with OTHER issues -especially in the area of relationships, which were sort of "hounding me" psychologically. So one day, I said to the shrink, whose shall name remain secret (It was Phil), "Phil, I wonder of I am depressed.
I got off all and crashed. Doctor put me on Zoloft and Xanax. I felt AWFUL on Zoloft. Terrible flu-like symptoms going on and up and worse coming down and off. Two months AFTER being off Zoloft I continued to have withdrawal symptoms My last Zoloft dose, and I tapered down slowly, was 8-31-06. I then had to taper down and go off Xanax (last Xanax dose was yesterday, 12-14-06). Continuing headaches, twitches, flu-like symptoms. I have read that this is all withdrawal symptoms.
You will be fine if you come back to your medication that is Zoloft and yes this happenend to me too, I had stopped taking my medicines(SSRIs) for a year almost and then my condition got worst , I had never experience such anxiety attacks and my mind was not working at all, Doctor started my medicine again and this time I was prescribed Zoloft 50mg(once in the morning) with Xanax 0.
com and it did state interactions between the drugs alprazolam (Xanax) and Wellbutrin XL but did not state the two could not be taken together. This is what it stated below: MONITOR: Excessive use or abrupt discontinuation of benzodiazepines and other sedatives after chronic ingestion may precipitate seizures in patients receiving bupropion. Conversely, bupropion may antagonize the central pharmacologic effects of sedatives.
Guys I identify with you so much. Back in the day, my psychiatrist would cringe at the though of giving me a bottle of 3 to 5 0.5mg xanax because they are so 'addictive'. Well, I switched doctors and am now on VA coverage (Air Force 6 years, did OEF/OIF). The VA psychiatrist up and gave me 360 1mg tabs of xanax to take 4 times a day! I remember he asking me, since I had taken Xanax a bit before "Well are you addicted?", I said "nope", and he's like "there you go!
I am a chronic patient of panic attacks, palpitation and anxiety and tried each of the above-mentioned medications, such as Librium, Valium, Ativan and Xanax. I found Ativan and Xanax more effetive and suitable. My physician has advised to add up Buspar, 5 MG combined with Xanax 0.5 MG Does somone at the Forum has some experioence and information about Buspar?
are these drugs safe together in the dosages I mentioned above and 2.
I take Zoloft and I also have Xanax in case I need them. Zoloft is for the overall everyday long term treatment. Xanax (in case you haven't tried it) is for fast relief. When my panic and anxiety kicked in and I was waiting for the Zoloft to kick in, I had Xanax and took it 2 - 3 times a day. Then I decreased it to night time so I wouldn't wake up in an attack. Now that the Zoloft has kicked in full blown I only take 1/2 pill at night or so to sleep.
Greetings, I was just reading and it seems that benzodiazepines are of real worry and rightfully so. I was on huge amounts of klonopin, xanax, valium and ativan and got off them with no worries with my doctor. The greatest help is to express your concerns with your doctor. There is nothing to worry about or feel ashamed. You have done nothing wrong. Even if you are taking more than prescribed, which most all of us with mental illness have done, your doctor is your path to freedom.
