Zoloft and xanax side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft and xanax side effects

zoloft

Avatar f tn Zoloft is a great drug, I have had panic attacks and anxiety for years and they went away after being on Zoloft and xanex as needed. It does take some time to find the right dose and the side effects to go away but stay with it!! Before I started the Zoloft I was taking 2-4 mg of xanex a day, after some time I was not taking any, and my life was normal again. Unfortunately after 12 plus years on Zoloft it pooped out on me a year ago...
Avatar f tn I have been taking Zoloft for 3 days and have almost every "common" side effect: Nausea and increased anxiety like crazy. Diareah, insomnia, burning feeling on the back of my neck, dry mouth. Nausea and increased anxiety are the worst. I can barely eat a thing. I took 25 mg 3 days in a row. I decided not to take it anymore. I am hoping that the side effects will go away very quickly.
Avatar f tn I believe you can continue to take your Ativan as it is in a different class of drugs from your other meds. BUT.................I am NOT a doctor nor a pharmacist and I will tell you right now that you MUST check this out with someome with real knowledge of the interactions of medications. And that is NOT me! Zoloft, an antidepressant, normally reaches steady state in about a week and in my humble opinion, you should not still be feeling "really anxious and nervous.
Avatar m tn I woke up this morning worried about side effects and felt like my heart was racing and going to beat out of my chest. I took 2 xanax (which I've been taking for years) and feel like I'm calming down, but I'm worried this racing heart is a side effect or if it's just my anxiety of taking the new medication. I want to get my life back but I think I'm afraid even this won't work. Would appreciate any advice or feedback.
2044839 tn?1331255841 I was recently tried on Zoloft and I thought the side effects I was having were withdrawls from my Effexor and new side effects from the Zoloft ... but it turned out I am allergic to the Zoloft and was having a reaction to it!
Avatar n tn I am currently back on zoloft. Almost 3 weeks and it hasn't really kicked in yet. How long did it take for zoloft to start working for you? Sometimes when you first start taking a med or go back on meds the side affects make your conditions worse instead of better but it tends to go away.
Avatar f tn I have been on zoloft for years and when I have had to change doses I do not have any side effects as long I take my meds consistently, and step the meds up or down how my doctor says.
Avatar m tn Frankly the stress I had before this regimen was way easier to deal with than all these drugs, side effects and withdrawals. I want to get off everything ASAP and will be talking with my doc about it this week. My question is when should I get my appetitte back if i quit, how should I quit, etc. I would like to have an opinion besides my docs. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Will stop taking Xanax for 1 month, then suddenly take one, and stop it cause severe withdrawal side effects?
2193833 tn?1339411302 Especially when a person is trying to adjust to the meds and may be having some side effects. When I started on Zoloft a long time ago, I was still having several massive panic attacks daily. I needed something to help me get through that. As the Zoloft started working, I needed the Ativan less and less, until I didn't need it at all anymore. Also, it is not entirely true that benzodiazepines are "downers", in the same way that alcohol would be.
Avatar m tn all of the above fears or disorders i have mentioned started happening after i took xanax and now i am xanax free for a week, but still sufffer from its side effects from time to time.. i do feel better over time and then do not feel better..... it will take weeks before i will fully recover... i dont like psychiatrists myself... ......
Avatar m tn When I took Zoloft a few years ago I had a terrible time with it. My shrink took me off it because the side effects were so bad. Zoloft effects people different ways but for me I had the ear ringing, stomach problems, headaches and felt disconnected. Can you ask your dr for something different? I think Paxil, Prozac and Zoloft are all in the same "family" but your dr would know better. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn i take prozac and had NO side effects at all and gradually felt better. i was told that Zoloft was the best and tried it after 2 months of night sweats, insomnia and speed like effects i did some research and was suprised at how much more side effects zoloft has compared to other ssris. get off of it now and try another ssri, dont put up with tremors and dont mask the side effects with xanax. that is my personal opinion.
Avatar f tn The symptoms subsided after weaning off of the Prozac but have returned with resuming the Zoloft.Mentally I feel much better. Today I increased my Zoloft from 12.5 mg to 25 mg. If these side effects continue are there other meds for anxiety that are not addictive and with fewer side effects. I spoke with my psychaitrist yesterday and he said to stop the Zolft and use the Xanax until my appointment next week. I have addictive behavior in my family.
Avatar m tn lots of psyc drugs cause nasty side effects and nasty withdrawls. Ive been on zoloft for five years and have liked it because for me it had no side effects. these meds react with people differently. I have GAD and am getting off zoloft bc I need something stronger but it helped with low- moderate anxiety and my depression.
1131131 tn?1275108488 I had no problem switching from Xanax to Klonopin. It was years ago, when my insurance company coveraged stopped for my regular psychiatrist. The new doctor switched me in one day. I was terrified I'd have problems: but had absolutely no difficulty. As Klonopin is a long acting anti-anxiety it is generally the medicine of choice for patients with chronic panic disorder.
Avatar m tn Hi all As part of my treatment for trying to uncover why I have tachycardia, I had to see a psychiatrist, who has prescribed me Xanax (extended release - once daily) and Lexapro b/c he believes i suffer from generalized anxiety and possible depression. Does anyone on this board (with heart rhythm issues) have success stories from these drugs that you could share with me?
672514 tn?1265655141 ha ha it worked for me last time, but last time was worse then this time and I was on xanax and slowly stopped the xanax as the zoloft was working, then stopped zoloft. but not this time, so I journal it all and keep it mind to move on.
Avatar n tn ve tried several medications for anxiety and panic attacks, but have had major side effects from them all. Zoloft, Celexa, etc. My doctor recently prescribed Prozac for my anxiety and panic attacks. In reading about Prozac, it does list anxiety and panic, but they are down the list a ways. Does anyone know if Prozac is a good choice for this? I don't want to take them if they aren't going to do anything. I don't have OCD, which seems to be the main disorder Prozac is prescribed for.
Avatar n tn Dee I think today I am having anxiety because my husband is out of town until tomorrow afternoon. I just want it to stop. I looked up Zoloft and it said that if you experience anxiety then you should tell your doctor right away. But, I am not having panic attacks, so I haven't called the Dr. yet. If it is from the Zoloft, will the side effect subside? I think that I panic because I feel "weird sensations". Does that make sense?
Avatar f tn At 5pm I take ,25mg xanax, and the pounding subsides. Are these side effects from the zoloft or xanax withdrawl? Tomorrow I am supposed to up my zoloft, but I'm afraid symptoms will get worse. Please help!
689327 tn?1240229164 In the past yr I have been on celexa, lexapro , Zoloft and now back on lexapro because the 200 mg of Zoloft was making me shakey. None of these AD's seem to work aty anxiety and depression. The only slight relief I get is from klonopin, which I have been on for a yr also (low dose .25mg 3x's a day. My podcast keeps telling me to be patient because it takes time for these mess to work .
Avatar m tn By reputation, Prozac and Lexapro have the least side effects. That doesn't mean much for you, though, as has already been stated, and it doesn't mean they'll work, either. Often, the better a med works, that means it's been metabolized better, and thus, alas, the more side effects. Clonazepam, by the way, is for long term use, not necessarily short term. Xanax or Ativan would be more likely to be given for short term use.
Avatar n tn My Dr put me on zoloft and 2mg xanax and zoloft 50 mg. I did not feel that the zoloft help me but the xanax has helped me sleep, but now im up to almost 8mg of xanax a day and tampered off the zoloft. Now i finally want to be drug free because i look back in my life and the happiest i ever remember me being is when i was on no medication at all, so all i need to do is wean off the very high dose i take of xanax. What my questionis is how to do it, how long it takes, and what to expect?
