Compare zoloft and xanax

Common Questions and Answers about Compare zoloft and xanax

Avatar n tn just my opinion....i was started on zoloft and xanax for panic/anxiety attacks. The longer I was on the zoloft the less I need the xanax. In fact, I haven't taken xanax in years.....the zoloft has totally controlled my attacks.
Avatar n tn Following painful cervical spine surgery in Dec, I took xanax on five occasions when my pulse and blood pressure spiked and my body tremored uncontrollably. When I was cautioned about its potential for addiction, I threw the pills away, and the first night without the crutch, I was fearful, but used mental and spiritual tools. I needed massive narcotics for pain following surgery. I was hooked up to a dilaudid IV and came home from hospital taking 60 mg oxycontin and 42 mg dilaudid.
311051 tn?1193419806 I tried to ween off of it and compare it very much as the same as Effexor. The Zoloft seems to make me have no interest in doing anything. After 4 days without it I would experience what feels like electric shocks and extreme tiredness and spaced out. It's not comparable to the xanax, though there is discomfort if stopped suddenly. I have been on Prozac and also Lexapro but did not have much more then discomfort when I quit taking those.
Avatar m tn will increase to 50mg, I was on zoloft b4 and it changed my life, short version, I was on xanax a number of years, I would not take another drug, finally gave in and took zoloft, was easy to stop xanax and then the zoloft, (ALONG with therapy) , I got my life back. this time I am off xanax and just started zoloft last week and will increase this week, I have been journalling about it.
Avatar f tn I am not sure if that is from the Zoloft or anxiety. I did not get a script for Xanax. I took Xanax last year and did not like it. I was too scared to try it again. I found that when the Xanax wore off my anxiety was worse than before I took one. I have been dealing with this anxiety for a while now, so I am happy to FINALLY be doing something about it! Thank you for your help! I am thankful people like you are here to help others' out!
9266905 tn?1402812481 Hello, I am prescribed with Zoloft and Xanax xr due to my anxiety and panic attacks. I am taking Zoloft 50mg in the mornings for 9 days and yesterday I took extra 50mg afternoon (as my doctor prescribed) and after 2-3 hours I felt my regular symptoms (heartbeat increases and my left arm and left feels like there are ants walking on it) and I took 0,5mg Xanax immediately. Now, I am very scared to increase the dosage.
15386971 tn?1440426700 If you go to your doctor and he/she diagnoses you with DEPRESSION, they may put you on Zoloft. Avatar n tn I am taking xanax and Klonipin for anxiety and panic attacks as well. Just broke up with fiancé and quit drinking two weeks ago and have had horrible anxiety. The only thing is that I have become horribly depressed, I was thinking it was caused by the Lithium they put me on three weeks ago. But stopped that and nothing tried another anti depressant didn’t do much. Im beginning to think that the depression has more to do with the xanax and Klonipin then the breaking up with girlfriend.
1855076 tn?1337118903 The rationale behind coming off the Klonopin and switching to Zoloft and an as needed Xanax would be likely that the Zoloft would be a more appropriate long term medication, as the benzos come with some issues, like the obvious tolerance and dependency. Klonopin's tolerance issues are much better in terms of taking a benzo regularly...compared to the shorter acting benzos. They build tolerance MUCH more dramatically when taken regularly versus the Klonopin.
15150808 tn?1438751877 Weren't these all mentioned in Zoloft? DID I REALLY NEED TO BE ON THIS DRUG? OK READ THESE and compare with ZOLOFT!!! What side effects may occur? Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Xanax. Your doctor should periodically reassess the need for this drug.
Avatar n tn I have had OCD, depression, anxiety, and paranoia controlled with Zoloft, Wellbutrin, and Xanax. The meds work 90% of the time. Through collaboration with the MD and the psychiastist, I have recently been prescribed a combo therapy of Zoloft, Synthroid and Cytomel. My OCD, depression, anxiety, and paranoia have disappeared. Within a couple of hours after taking Cytomel, my lethargic nature left and I felt normal. I also no longer need Xanax.
Avatar n tn Hi. I have MVP and episodes of SVT. I am taking Verapamil and Zoloft. Recently, I read a report in the American Journal of Medicine that listed Zoloft as a drug that may prolong the cardiac QT interval and cause risk for an arrythmia. My question is: Do you know if this is true and can possibly happen? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Not a good idea to self diagnose yourself, this is getting you so worried and anxious..just go with the facts (the physical symptoms) and family history and present this to your Dr. As a nurse, when going through school, I thought I had everything I was reading about...and yes you feel panicked when your reading into the medical world...It's good to be educated, but don't diagnose your illness yourself please...
Avatar n tn About three months ago I stopped taking my Zoloft and just recently (about two weeks ago) I was struck again with one of those dizzy spells and it's still ongoing. The following is what usually happens... I've had a stressful day (but not always) and I feel a pressure surrounding my head and I feel as if I'm going to faint, my head feels heavy...then comes the panic's very scary...
Avatar n tn most people dont eat well and have problems with there digestive track and dont realize that could be causing multiple things. i have had brain fog, fatigue and sinus problems that include headaches. I have taken zoloft and xanax with nothing helping other than i dont feel down about my problems with brain fog. I dont get anxiety to with xanax. I have a hiatal hernia that i use to take nexium for 7 years.
Avatar n tn Medications to reduce the number of them and learn to live with them(ha,ha)... Anyway, I finally got on atenonol and zoloft(50mg) and xanax. I take xanax when I have an episode it it goes away almost right away. The zoloft i take everyday(it is for depression) but the small dosage along with atenonol has put me back in controll of my life. I have had very few episodes for this past year and am at a point now that I do not even think about them (untill they happen of course).
Avatar n tn I can wake up and feel normal and have very few PVC's, but later in the day they get worse, and sometimes after exercise. Normal? Any reason for this? 2. During my stress echo, as my HR went above 120, they completely went away during my stress echo, only to return as my HR dropped below 120. Cardiologist said this was normal? 3. Is it possible that a vagus nerve problem can cause PVC's? 4.
Avatar f tn I have a number of paper books and a PDR and a current copy of MIMS which is the Australian prescriber guidebook, I agree on the online sources, they can be patchy so I generally read several and then compare to the paper guide. The anti bacterial thing is actually bad not good IMO, its going to lead to a lot of people with no natural resistance to things.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with MPV (mild) and panic attacks 9 years ago when i first became pregnant with my first child. I was on and off beta blockers and xanax the 4 years between my 2 babies but during the 2nd pregancy, i thought i was going to die. I also did alot of research and found that YOU cannot control or cause these "panic" attacks in some cases.
Avatar n tn atenolol 50 mg morning 8. zoloft 25 mg morning and evening 9. temazepam prn 10.
Avatar n tn I had never taken antidepressants before Zoloft and was amazed at HOW much I worried ALL the time and how wonderful it was not to have my brain engaged in some kind of thought constantly!), and I just couldn't quit worrying and was jumpy. So....he increased the dosage to 150 mg. - which, to me, would only exacerbate the problem - but he said no...not necessarily. Most times it would help. Well....for the past 3 weeks, I guess it has slowed my brain down...
Avatar n tn The few medical professionals that I know who have taken antidepressants are now believers - and they agree with the rest of us. And if I hear another doctor compare taking an SSRI with taking insulin for diabetes, I'm going to smack them across the face! What a horrible, inaccurate analogy. They don't even know how the SSRIs actually work - they're just spewing out the bile that the Pharmaceutical Representative who just bought their entire office lunch and a free round of golf told them!
Avatar n tn Like many of you have said, it is comforting to know that there are others out there struggling with the same things as me. I was absolutely terrified when last year I woke up in the middle of the night with loud pulsatile tinnitus in my left ear. Irom that point on I had constant (often daily) headaches/neckaches and this low bass beating in my left ear at night. Often, by morning, my headaches would be worse and the beating in my ear would turn into a roar.
Avatar n tn I know its a lower level drug but Valium and Xanax seem to be great treatment for anxiety...I've been put on Paxil and Zoloft and Buspar and all those "anti-depressives" to me thats the doctors just writting off scripts to get paid from the pharm. companies... next time you go into an office look at all the "promo" stuff there is for all these meds....doctors use the anti-depressants on people as if you're being tested.
Avatar n tn so being like this for so long has caused that to kick in even more and I'm taking more Xanax. I'm thinking something's just weird this year....and whatever it was, I got it! I've heard of a lot of people being like this this year. I don't have a deviated septum and Dr. said I didn't need surgery...but if it would help me I would try it! How do you get a deviated septum? And...why are you having problems now from it and didn't before? These are questions I'd ask.
Avatar m tn I was on xanax as well as zoloft and paxil. The anxiety I suffered from withdrawl of xanax was almost unbearable and lasted at least a year. The paxil, however, stayed with me for years and I could literally taste it in my mouth.Try taking 4000 iu of vitamin D3 as well as staying away from all stimulants ie...caffeine..Alcohol can also trigger panic when you withdrawl.
Avatar n tn My white and red blood cell counts however were on the low end of the normal spectrum, my sed rate was very low (1) which I was told was good. I've been taking Lexapro and Xanax to try and manage the symptoms but I've been on the Xanax for several months and my body is building up a tolerance to the dose I'm on. I'm been taking tylenol like it's candy. The muscle symptoms range from painless twitching, to stabbing pain and tightness which can be quite painful at times.
Avatar n tn I just recently got off of it by tapering, and did so without many bad side effects. I also take Xanax, and have been on that for about 2yrs., very low dose. I have not had any recurrence of any actual attacks for over a year now, and none since quitting paxil. I have started an excercise program and have started eating healthier as well, along with vitamins. I'm hoping that they don't come back again, I still have some anxiety from time to time, but nothing like the attacks before.
480448 tn?1426952138 or was watching the world through a movie projector, instead of through my own eyes and mind. Therefore, I am going to share with you all what *I* know about these phenomena, and hopefully reassure some of you that this is par for the anxiety while irritating, maybe even is totally harmless. Derealization and depersonalization are two terms that are sometimes used interchangably. Truth is, they DO vary a little bit in their presentation....
