Common Questions and Answers about Wisdom tooth drainage

Recently I visited my dentist because I was experiencing extreme pain in my mouth. They told me my upper left wisdom tooth was infected and prescribed me a prescription for an antibiotic and ibuprofen to help with the discomfort, as well as referring me to an oral surgeon. I have an appointment in three days with the oral surgeon for an exam (Its been two weeks already) but I have the feeling my tooth is still infected even after taking the antibiotic.
Two weeks ago I had a severe toothache went to dentist and put on an antibiotic one week later wisdom tooth extracted pain still persists, drainage, foul taste and smell, upset stomach, pain in jaw and ear and sore throat. Spoke to the dentist and was instructed to continue antibiotic and salt water rinses. I finished the antibiotic and all symptoms still present is this normal and should I be doing something else. I am nervous that I should be taking more antibiotics or doing something else.
HI, It is indeed unfortunate that extraction of wisdom tooth should get infected like this. Drainage of the pus will help clear away the infection faster. Once the pus is drains the antibiotics will act faster and the healing will be better. Antiseptic mouth washes will help. Also check out with your dentist to know where the pus is coming from. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.
Yesterday I woke up with my bottom right wisdom tooth sore and the tissue around it swollen. My right ear and scalp are also very sensitive to the touch. If either are touched or move, they hurt a lot. I also get what feels like ear ache pain on the right side whenever I swallow. Is a nerve being compressed or does this sound like an infection?
He said that he's got a tooth abscess in a healthy tooth and that the tooth should be extracted. He said it is unusual in cats and that they don't know the cause. He also suggested some antibiotics for a few days before the surgery to help with the infection. Just wondering if it is worth trying to save the tooth. Go through the course of antibiotics and see if he gets better. My vet made me feel like I was just being cheap and that conventional wisdom is to just remove the tooth.
I am the reason it ruptured because I was pressing down on it and I worry that I may have pushed some of the infection to the brain. I know I swallowed some of the drainage. I have tried to explain this to a doctor here but I can't seem to get him to understand my concerns.
i think i have an abcess in my jaw and it feels like my bone is cracking around the wisdom tooth. i cant get to the dentist for a few days,. what should i do? the swelling is spreading in my face and i think my neck.
Thank you. Maybe I have the tooth # wrong. I still have my wisdom teeh and I had 4 teeth pulled before braces. I think it is a 2nd molar.. upper jaw left side. Does that make a difference in your recommendation?
I think I have an infected tooth right above wer my wisdom tooth is beginning to come in at my jaw line below the gum reasons why I think the tooth is infected is because It gives off a foul smell hurts to the touch and my wisdom tooth has begin to stick out at the job line right below this infected tooth I'm only 20years of age and my insurance could take some time to kick in what should I do
) but it hurts when I get toothpaste on it when brushing. I've never felt like I needed to get my wisdom teeth removed-- they've never really hurt but every so often I feel a little pressure in my teeth (most the bottom ones). I had braces but eventually stopped wearing my retainer and as you can see in the second picture my bottom teeth shifted (the front two a lot) and I discovered, maybe stress factors on the front teeth (kind of hard to see in the first picture).
Got my wisdom tooth taken out 11 days ago. I still have extreme tingling in my chin and lips. my teeth feel numb still. now I have a horrible odor and feels like drainage.
how can i pop my ears from sinus drainage? This discussion is related to ear pressure tooth and sinus pain. Inner Infection? Wisdom teeth? Both?.
I have a bum on my gum on the left side of my face behind the last tooth. Some people are saying it might be a caker sore or an abscess. The bump became bigger and I noticed a white substance inside of the bump. It grew bigger than with the help of hot water and salt it began to drain. First question what is this on my gum? How long does it take to heal? and Should I go to the dentist after it fully heals?
so referred me to an Endodontist thinking I needed a root canal. On Oct 30th The Endodontist did several tests and concluded that I needed my wisdom teeth removed. I am 31 y/o and had 3 impacted wisdom teeth, and one that was partially through-but have never had any problems with them. On Nov. 7 I had all 4 wisdom teeth surgically removed by an oral surgeon.
It seems to be coming from an area where a wisdom tooth is under the skin. I am out of town right now and can't see my dentist for at least a few days, what can I do to alleviate this pain, and what could be causing it??? I swear, childbirth was less painful than this. I can't eat, I can't sleep, I need help!!!
e., for example, a badly infected tooth or flare-up of a wisdom tooth. It would be wise for you to see your dentist, before proceeding with other testing. You should ask your doctor why he/she wants to do allergy testing and what decisions/ recommendations will he/she make on the basis of the allergy test results. And, yes, you and your doctor should consider the possibility of fungus disease of your sinuses that can take the form of invasive infection or allergic fungal sinusitis.
I am 62 years old, and have been healthy. Last April I had an infected wisdom tooth removed. Weeks before and after I had terrible sinus issues (NEVER had a sinus infection before) Dentist discovered a tiny fistula, a hole to my sinus. Told me not to blow my nose for 3 weeks. When I went back, he said it was closed (and in fact, foul tasting drainage had stopped) but x ray showed my sinus was still infected, my sinus was still clogged. I was on assorted antibiotics for 6 months.

I party friday and through up but but felt fine sat.
Anyway, this drainage system is related to any infection from the neck above so I am told - I now know all my symptoms were related to an impacted wisdom tooth with a cyst underneath which never caused me pain but caused a severe sinus and ear infection constantly.
The doctors say that I have a swollen tonsil which could be caused by my right wisdom tooth which is incredibly slow at coming out. However my dentists say that the wisdom tooth is fine and minor infection is normal. I have always slept on my stomach and I have always slept quite soon after eating. 6 months ago I read that those are the worst possible things to do so now I always enure that I sleep 3 hours after eating and that I sleep on my back only. However I am still getting the problem.
it Doesn't hurt but reciently the lump behind my (Left) ear is starting to hurt And i wonder if this could be cause'd from the wisdom tooth? i went to the clinic a few months ago for the tooth And the Doctor said. she required a dentist for the tooth problem. she looked inn my ear and said everything looks normal. i have had swollen glands in the past. and i had her look at thoes also. she replied they Look normal!! iam fairly scard about this situation and dont know what to do?
This must be some VERY odd genetic mutation, as my sister had ONE extra Wisdom tooth, but four of my children had some extras - including my daughter who had 7 total, and my firstborn, who had eight as well, but during the surgery to remove them, they found a NINTH Wisdom tooth, AND - he has since gone on to somehow - REGROW - that ninth tooth!!! (It and roots were TOTALLY removed .... it had begun to infiltrate his sinus cavity!
After that its thick clear snot that is post nasal drip. I do have a tooth that is half gone and 3 out of 4 wisdom teeth coming through. I've tried allergy stuff and that doesn't work. I have tried sudephed decongestant an that seems to help some. Could this be chronic sinusitis?
My jaw cracks, my teeth hurt, my neck is in pain… I have gone to the doctor’s over and over and over again… only to be told I have severe drainage in my ear and post nasal drip. Can post nasal drip really cause all these symptoms? How long will I have to live with this? I feel so depressed and so alone. Once so healthy, now I dread getting up in the morning because I know when I get up, I will not be feeling well.
still no discharges at all but occasional facial swelling especially noticed in my mouth upper jaw line where my wisdom tooth would have been and very tender to chew. This may last a day or two at the most changing throughout the day with varying intensity and locations but always on the right side only. Odd but when I feel the pain and pressure the dizziness seems to lesson...then the pressure and pain disappear so does the dizziness increase. I think I am crazy...
I recently had a abscess tooth and the infection had affected the right side of my head with the headaches started, i have 3 more teeth to be pulled and have been going back and forth with the insurance co and the oral surgeon office manager since August to get this wisdom tooth and two in front of it pulled, any help that way i would appreciate it. I also have CAD, which now is controlled with medicine and diet, exercise and watch the cholestrol, i have a excellant cardilogist.
After we were done I went to brush my teeth and an area where a wisdom tooth is poking through was bleeding quite a bit into the brush and spit-out. 7 to 8 days later I had a 3 day bout of morning, watery, diarrhea. About 2 weeks in I observed what seemed a random distribution of small (1.5 mm) pimple like bumps on the back of my shoulder, shoulder, and back of arm which is now subsiding. I scratched at one and they were not pimples.
Not sure if related or not, but I have a constant drainage down the back of my throat on the LEFT side. I can actually feel it. I sometimes have tingling on the left side of my face (was worse before, but not as much now). I am achy in my left arm and left leg at times also. The achiness feels like what I would describe as arthritis (never had it before). My left eye has recently began to feel puffy as if there is swelling behind it, although I can't see any swelling.
