Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting of toddler

vomiting

Avatar n tn You need to take your child to the doctor IMMEDIATELY. Not wanting to eat is not as much of a concern as not drinking is - a child can dehydrate very quickly and dehydration can be very serious, especially in a child. Dehydration will also happen a lot faster if the child is also vomiting and/or has diarrhea or a fever. Please do not hesitate - take your child to the ER. Please let us know what you find out and how your child is doing. Best of luck!
Avatar n tn My 20 month old grandson has had vomiting for almost a week. He has had a history of reflux, but this past week he has had some projectile vomiting, no fever, and just can't keep anything down. What should we do? No fever, his pedi thinks it's a virus and lasts 7 to 10 days.
Avatar n tn I am 6+1 and I haven't had the morning sickness kick in full force yet. I'm having to choke down food but no vomiting. I also have a toddler. Dreading when the vomiting starts! Maybe this babe will be a boy and I won't have any morning sickness because with DD I was barfing from 6 weeks well into mid-2nd tri. No advice, just empathy.
Avatar f tn t be of any help. There are a lot of viruses going around now, including influenza... you should take them to be checked out by the pediatrician just to be safe.
Avatar n tn I have a 22 month-old son who, over the past several months, has had episodes of vomiting that occur when ever he is asleep. The episodes usually occur on a weekend and not during the week. It was occurring about 4-5 weeks in a row but had subsided recently until he had another vomiting episode this last weekend. This last episode was typical of the others. He awoke at around 2 am and started coughing. I went to his room and he had vomited in his bed.
Avatar f tn So my daughter has had trouble with vomiting 3-5 nights a week since she was a toddler (she is almost 11). She has been diagnosed with Asthma and a few environmental allergies. Her allergist stated that the vomiting is due to the asthma. However, I am starting to suspect the opposite may be true. I know vomiting is not good for her esophagus. She does not experience pain before vomiting.
Avatar f tn I have a 2 yr old that started with vomiting 2 weeks ago. Afetr 3 days of vomiting and stomach cramping almost mainly at night, he was admitted to the hospital for dehydration and testing. the Dr ordered blood testing, urine testing, and xray. He seemed to get better and testing showed nothing out of the ordinary. He was released on the third day, but began vomiting as soon as we got home. He was readmitted on the next day.
Avatar n tn (except coughing spasm), 5 days ago she had vomiting, loss of appetite and then 2 episode of white poop. (last just today). yesterday she has some small urticaria on her body, hand and foot. I gave her Loratadine and now she is OK. about your kids, could you understand what was the cause? should I go for blood tests and liver function test?
Avatar f tn Sporadic contractions, first 2 hours 5 mins apart then for an hour 2 mins then for an hour 7 minutes apart then every 10 or 20 or hour, lasts anywhere from 10 to 40 seconds. What the hell is this, stomach bug? My toddler has a stomach bug we think, maybe. Jesus who else Iis going through this.
Avatar n tn But I am concerned about the unexplained vomiting. I worry he will damage his esophagus or that the vomiting could be a sign of something else that the doctors just aren't catching. And it concerns me that he seems to NOT want to eat because he might gag or throw up. He KNOWS that it happens. He sometimes tells me, "I choke" even when he's not really gagging. So, there are already psychological effects from this recurring vomiting.
Avatar f tn When he is in a cycle of vomiting, he throws up sometimes more than 4 times a day. Worst times seem to be in the morning and at bedtime. So, he throws up in his bed quite a bit too. He has GERD. He has been tested for gastroenteritis, had done an upper GI, a CT and also endoscopy with normal results. Sometimes he can eat yogurt no problem - but other times he throws it up alot (now). We dont see any patterns with food. We tried him on Pediasure and he did not do well. It did not seem to digest.
1399155 tn?1280624978 i was wondering if its normal for a toddler to get blood sugars over 200 and not be a diabetic ? My son is 2 and we have had on 4 separate occations of blood sugar over 200 and one was over 300 , it is starting to concern me. I have heard that only diabetic should go over 200. yes i do wash his hand before testing my mother and a few cousins are diabetic so i have been testing him once and a while. he now is also drinking and peeing alot.

7677085 tn?1395374075 Okay I know this is the wrong forum to post this on, but my little girl (eighteen months today) has puked about eight times in less than twelve hours. i checked the toddler forum and the pediatric forum and they rarely get any replies, so I'm begging for help from mommies on here! I took her to her pediatrician and he told me what to watch for (danger wise). I'm looking for comfort techniques and advice on how she should sleep tonight.
Avatar f tn I gained more with my second... Why ever . lol. Stretch marks stayed the same, except going further up in some places where I had some already. If that makes sense. Don't think I got any new ones. I'm 38+1. I also thought I'd be gaining less since I have a very active toddler..lol. and I've had nausea and vomiting pretty much just as bad as during my first pregnancy. But nope... :) I guess it's always different for anyone.
Avatar f tn 35 weeks, healthy big baby, but this pregnancy has not been easy. Lost a lot of weight from vomiting in the beginning til 6 months & now I'm swelling. Ready to meet my baby and get back to my normal self!!
Avatar m tn Very important questions by margy. I would add - are any of these also problems at school?
Avatar f tn My friend posted this pic of the ultrasound pic and the position of the baby. I tested it out on all my friends ultrasound picture. It was correct for them and my baby.
Avatar f tn My daughter has had proectile vomiting since birth that was written off as reflux until 13 months of age. When I told the pediatrician that she refuses to swallow solids (baby food) at this age, he referred to a GI doc who diagnosed her with eosionophilic esophagitis after an endoscopy. Since then she has been on a elimination diet and is NOT allergic to milk, nuts, soy and wheat. We still have to rule out eggs and shellfish. She is also on Prevacid daily.
Avatar m tn The description you give is not suggestive at all of diabetes, the first episode of low sugar with intussception is expected, during sepsis (high white count) and illness in a small 2 yo child who has not eaten it is not unexpected to find a low sugar, the insulin is normal, NOT too low, this insulin level in the face of a sugar of 85 is appropriate and rules out hyperinsulinemia(a cause of low sugar) and makes us feel better in regards to the low sugar that occured earlier.
Avatar f tn She has not been in her crib for over a year now. She's been in a toddler bed since last June, without issue, and we have never had any problems with the toddler bed, until last week.
Avatar n tn Nausea, heartburn, appetite loss, headache, vomiting, acid reflux, gas, frequent bowles regular or what have you, cramps, baby does not fit! Anything else please feel free to share.
1615999 tn?1307461942 My son (will be 3 in June) is doing the same thing. He had a few random vomiting episodes in the month of February. His actions do not involve sticking his hands into his mouth though. Of course this alarmed me in the beginning and I assumed he was sick, but then he'd be fine. I'm realizing it happens mostly during mealtimes. Last week, everyone in my family had a stomach virus and we were all throwing up.
Avatar n tn my twin boys (26 mos. old) have been doing something very similar over the last 3 weeks. Diarrhea, mucus, foul smell, foul gas, more pale yellow smell. No fever, normal appetite, normal behavior (except for the diaper rash that the foul diarrhea gives). As soon as the BM hits their skin, it immediately burns and leaves it really red. I get it off of them immedietely, so I don't know why it burns them up so bad.
Avatar f tn I was given tablets by the doctor as I was the same and didn't want to get to the stage of being hospitalized with dehydration (already a mum to a toddler). A friend told me that they can give tablets of it's severe so might be worth a visit to your docs? I've been on them since 7 weeks and currently 12 weeks, came off them earlier this week to see if symptoms are wearing off, no joy so back on them lol.
Avatar f tn I'm pregnant and on top of being sick already, I now have a wonderful stomach virus. Is there anything anyone can recommend? I can stay out of the restroom and literally on the toilet with a bucket in front of me.
