Vomiting toddler with diarrhea

Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting toddler with diarrhea

vomiting

Avatar n tn Not wanting to eat is not as much of a concern as not drinking is - a child can dehydrate very quickly and dehydration can be very serious, especially in a child. Dehydration will also happen a lot faster if the child is also vomiting and/or has diarrhea or a fever. Please do not hesitate - take your child to the ER. Please let us know what you find out and how your child is doing. Best of luck!
Avatar n tn The diarrhea also continued the next day as well. After he started the diarrhea the vomiting seemed to subside which is typical of the previous episodes. The vomiting followed by diarrhea seems to be a pattern. He is also a picky eater and looking back he seems not to poop very much for a couple of days preceding the vomiting episodes. Visits to our doctor and blood/stool tests have not indicated anything unusual.
Avatar f tn Its tough when they are that little. Pedialyte will be of no help unless they have vomiting and diarrhea. As for meds, unless they have an ear infection or something bacterial meds won't be of any help. There are a lot of viruses going around now, including influenza... you should take them to be checked out by the pediatrician just to be safe.
Avatar n tn We have a 22 mos. old who has had diarrhea, mucus, in stool for wks, then stopped temporarily, started again. Very foul smell, mostly green in color, mucus and now a fever. This has gone on for 1 1/2 mos. We stopped milk just in case, that didn't help. She is on gatorade, bland diet, and in between this had a sinus infection and took amoxicillin for 10days. Her fever went up to 102.9 is coming down with motrin/tylenol in between. Stool was tested for parasites.
Avatar f tn He has a bottle of milk in the morning with no vomiting. He vomits undigested food at night, not just his dinner, but sometimes his breakfast.
Avatar f tn But wanted to see if anyone else has been through this. Im 31 wks and 5days yesterday I started with diarrhea. And today so far ive thrown up 3 times. I can't keep anything down. Even when I try drinking water I feel like it wants to come back up. I knw its important for me to keep fluids down. Ciz of fear of dehydration. Avatar f tn Hi, I'm approx 8 weeks along. I have been vomiting for 24hrs and have had diarrhea too. I haven't been able to eat anything for around 36hrs without bringing it straight back up (I tried plain crackers and dry toast). Even sipping water has me vomiting within 15/20mins of doing so. Question is, should I go see a Dr or maybe there is something I can get from a chemist that can help? Or is this normal and I just need to ride it out? Getting concerned as I feel quite dehydrated...
Avatar f tn Is there anything anyone can recommend? I can stay out of the restroom and literally on the toilet with a bucket in front of me.
Avatar f tn s diarrhea, which is exactly what it is, a toddler with chronic diarrhea. Does anyone else have a child with this condition, and what can I try to ease the symptoms?
Avatar f tn Then 4 days ago my husband come down with some virus thing with vomiting and diarrhea so we wondered if they were related? Who knows...just sent a stool sample to the lab today and the dr wants to start him on flagyl to see if it treats the diarrhea. We can't see a specialist until October and I'm at a loss for answers. I've researched everything but I'm not a dr and my dr is at a loss as well.
Avatar f tn I opened it up and noticed there were mice droppings so i just wiped it down with baby wipes and put my toddler in and went on with our day. When we left the mall, i noticed there was still a few more droppings in there. I’m terrified we could have caught hantavirus. I googled symptoms & i have naseousness & awful body aches & the ER told me there’s no testing & to come back if symptoms get worse. I live in Chicago il and i know it rare to catch that but there’s still a chance.
Avatar f tn If your child is taking high-potency antibiotics, your child likely has an infection that could be serious if it goes untreated. Don't stop or change antibiotics on your own - not every antibiotic is effective against every infection, so you may be doing more harm than good by switching. Have you heard of the BRAT diet? It's often used to help patients with diarrhea. BRAT stands for bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast.
Avatar m tn I am a healthy 46 year old male. Six days ago I suffered a severe case of diarrhea with blood and spent two days in the hospital. It came on out of nowhere and was not accompanied by vomiting. They performed a CT which showed diverticular disease and inflammation of the colon. They treated with Cipro and Flagyl and I am still taking the Flagyl. I am still experiencing a burning sensation in my colon and dark (purple) sticky stools but no diarrhea.
Avatar n tn I wonder if you are having an epidemic with the following symptoms: diarrhea, nausea or vomiting, fever ... and how to treat if the symptoms persist. Should I go to emergency room?
Avatar n tn gave some more small amounts of fluids but still vomited again. No sign of fever and no diarrhea. Playful and happy but still vomiting...and is sound asleep now. I can tell he is hungry but he is gagging anytime we give fluids or solids....we are frustrated and not sure what to do. We just find it strange that he basically has no other symptom and are concerned about his minimal food and liquids. We also find it strange that there is basically no other symptom but vomiting.
Avatar n tn s like your body cleansing itself to make delivery easier. No other symptoms, no nausea, no vomiting, no fever. Just diarrhea. How long after did labor start?
Avatar m tn If he keeps vomiting or the diarrhea gets bad, he does need emergency care, simply because his water intake will not keep up with his dehydration risk. A tiny dog is at greater risk too. If he stabilizes, and there is no more vomiting etc, then just fast him completely for 24 hours with just water, then try him again with plain boiled rice, then if he keeps that down and seems hungry, gradually start mixing some plain boiled white fish or chicken breast in with the rice.
Avatar f tn I was getting irritated very easily, overly emotional, and it was affecting the relationship I had with my toddler. I reached out to my primary doctor, who put me on Wellbutrin, which I had tolerated just fine before I had my daughter. This time, it put me in such a state of anger (unlike me) that I had to stop taking it and seek psychiatric help. I was told I had bipolar ll, and put on Latuda.
Avatar n tn She is now being doubled over w/pain in the lower abdomen, severe nausia, vomiting constantly, and bloody diarrhea. Over the past six weeks, she has been in the hospital 4 times - had 3 colonoscopy, upper GI, blood work, stomach biopsy, colon biospy. They determined that she has ischemic cholitis. The last colonoscopy said this condition was "healing nicely" but less than 1 week later she is back in the hospital - and worse than ever! She is weak, vomiting, diarrhea etc.
Avatar f tn Several years ago I had the same problem but everything went aways once my gallbladder was removed. The episodes of vomiting and diarrhea last anywhere from hours to 2 days. I have recorded what I am eating to see if it is a food allergy but only thing i have found in the past week is butter makes me sick but not other dairy products. I went to a chiroprator that gave me a questionare about health sympotms and he recommeded me having my thyroid checked.
