Avatar f tn s lab report and I asked him if Bailey was dying, if renal failure is reversible, and if she was in any pain. He replied: Yes, she is dying; renal failure is not reversible - it's fatal - and that she cannot recover from it; and that Bailey may have some small amount of pain but we would never know it because the JRT is a very tough breed and would probably not show us any outward signs of pain.
Avatar f tn At the point I felt the dog was in acute renal failure and sent him on to MedVet for a urinary catheter to monitor urine output overnight as well as overnight care. He started vomiting again overnight at MedVet and his renal values have continued to increase daily. He produced urine when given lasix as a diuretic. He was on 3 different anti-vomiting medications and they still couldn't control his vomiting.
Avatar n tn His left kidney has atrophied and the right is failing. She is now on a drip and antibiotics, renal failure this time possibly an acute episode triggered by infection. I hear that renal transplant is possible in USA and Canada.. Guelp in ontario? UC Davies in Canada? Now I know I need a donor and my golden retriever could possibly be one. any other options? Any cadeveric donors like humans ? Any other choice of places? I am based all the way in Hong Kong...
20501556 tn?1499447492 76 yr old female taking Zoloft for a few months was admitted to hospital from ER for nausea, vomiting, dehydration and UTI. Hospitalist stopped the Zoloft for a few days due to renal failure.  Patient (my mom) has history of Crohns and currently has ileostomy and mucus fistula stoma from late April 2017 surgery. Suffering from high output (over 2 liters daily) pure liquid and wondering if this is possible side effect of not having Zoloft for those few days.
Avatar f tn His only symptons were a bout of vomiting and lethargy. His blood work was quite elevated, BUN 83mg/dl, CREA 5.1mg/dl, PHOS 8.8mg/dl. He has been given fluids twice and we have been giving him Azodyl capsules twice a day. Also sprinkling Epikatin on his food twice a day. We have been trying to transition him to renal diet with not a lot of success. Previously he had been on a urinary diet for 1 1/2 years for crystals in his urine.
Avatar m tn My 15 and half year old cross is also showin signs of renal failure. I came across this article which may help. Good luck, I know just what you are going through. http://www.windyhollowvet.com/Document/info/ChronicRenalFailureDiet.

Avatar f tn Res-tested her blood 14 days later (she was back to acting normal, infecting healed, still on fluids and meds tho) and I was astounded her levels were still very elevated, they were lower than the 1st test and lower than the test during the infection but still so far out of range my vet said there is really no more hope it could be an Acute situation and this seems to be renal dysplasia a chronic kidney failure condition.
Avatar n tn I have an 8 year old GSD, who became incontinent out of nowhere. No big deal. So, I took her to the vet to be checked out. The vet examined her and they did a urinalysis and a urine culture. Both those tests came back negative for any infection, but the vet commented that my dogs was very dilute, and that is not a good thing. So she recommended some more blood work, to check her kidneys, etc and ask me to bring in the urin from the dog's frist pee in the morning.
Avatar f tn But my fathers dog is 8 1/2 years old terrier mix Chancho was diagnosed with diabetes today and renal failure. I do not know the numbers of his test, but prior to being diagnosed he was real lathrgic vomiting urinating and popping in the house it was uncontrollable. Today when my father took him to the vet he couldn't walk, vet gave him iv for being dehydrated, anti nausea shot, insulin and antibiotics. Said he will re test him in 2 days sent him home with antibiotic and insulin.
Avatar f tn A lot of what you described sounds like you could have a kidney infection, which can be life threatening! Viral hepatitis or cirrhosis of the liver I saw on one website can cause dark brown urine. Another mentions UTI, liver failure, renal (kidney) failure & blood in the urine. Please go in ASAP and get a urine culture, kidney and liver functions done!
Avatar n tn Renal failure may be either chronic or acute. Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) is a progressive, irreversible deterioration of kidney function. Because cats hide their illnesses and the very early signs of CRF are subtle, this disease may only be recognized when the patient reaches the 70% deterioration level and more dramatic symptoms are observable. The seemingly sudden onset may appear to be an acute condition but is most often a crisis point of CRF.
Avatar f tn yesterday we noticed a patch of hair gone so took him to the vet had all the blood work done and this morning we received a call saying Tye was in renal failure and may only have a few months to live.we brought him into the vet to get SUB Q fluids and this is needed for the next few days he will get a special diet and have to take a water pill and antiacid as well as another medication i cant remember what it is called let alone what it is use for.
681148 tn?1437661591 Before I wised up and learned that spelt was simply just a non-hybrid and natural form of wheat and that it still has gluten in it, I would go to make some toast with this spelt bread. Before I ever got the butter on it, the cat was trying to take the bread away from me. And, she usually has much better manners than that. I noticed that I wasn't stopping at one or two slices of this bread myself. I wised up and didn't buy any more of it.
Avatar n tn My cat, Miss Kitty has just died from renal failure. We did not notice any symptoms except weight loss and as she was about 14,, we attributed this to being older. She was still active and eating, until one Friday night when she collapsed. We took her to an excellent vet who gave her aggressive treatment over a period of weeks, including IV fluids, saline, blood supplements, phosphorus blocker, CCRF supplements, KD cat food, and we also gave her Astro Oil.
Avatar f tn and was rescued from the streets in houston. she has renal failure and has really bad teeth. The problem is two different vets.said it would be too risky to put her to sleep to pull or work on her teeth. Her breath is really bad and I know she is in pain. My poor little girl needs some help. Does anyone have a suggestions?
Avatar n tn My question is, could the medications that I listed above be causing me to have acute renal failure? I have no swelling, no metallic taste in my mouth, no vomiting or nausea. It just seems that I am urinating less than I used to. Does this sound like acute renal failure to you? Do these medications usually cause acute renal failure? Should I see a doctor? Thanks so much for your response!!
874521 tn?1424116797 I think it's sad how contaminated our food supply has become with GMOs, chemicals, pollution. It's a wonder any of us are alive! Here's a link to a website that discusses renal failure in cats. Hopefully you will find it helpful. http://avidlifepet.
Avatar f tn X-ray done, no bloods but Furusemide given. Two days later nitveating, vomiting - took to her own vet - bloods done - diagnosed with renal failure. Placed on Vetmedin for heart, renal diet, anti nausea tabs etc. 6 weeks later, still not eating well, trembling a lot. Not eaten a thing for 36 hours. Back to vet and he decided to stop the vetmedin. I also same time was given some herbal kidney support by a friend. That was one month ago.

Avatar f tn My dog Jem was diagnosed with renal failure two months ago. He vomited and just couldn't get up. He had a scan. They found renal disease and very small kidneys. We got Jem from the shelter. They don't know if he had it congenital or it developed. They can't tell how old he is. Two weeks of hospitalisation followed. One vet there said put him down. Another said it would be time. Jem hated being at the hospital. I used to take him everywhere. He would wait on his leash.

580170 tn?1217929500 I completely understand your position. I lived it last Fall when our dog was diagnosed with severe kidney failure. By the time the dog has severe enough symptoms to prompt a vet visit, it's usually too late. Once vomiting begins, that means the kidneys can't filter out toxins which results in nausea, lack of appetite and vomiting. Like your dog, we went through the KD food, the special homemade diets, etc., until Chica just had no appetite at all.
