Avatar f tn Vitamin B complex will only fix your depression if you have a Vitamin B deficiency causing your depression symtoms. If your depression were caused by poor thyroid function you would have to take medication to correct your thyroid function to fix your depression symptoms. If you have actual depression caused by a lack of seratonin in your brain, you need medication for depression to fix that deficiency. Vitamin B is not going to fix your seratonin deficiency.
Avatar f tn Vitamin B-12 deficiency causes nerve pain or tingling, dementia, mental illness, tremors and difficulty walking. Also when vitamin B-12 and vitamin D deficiency together can mimic multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome and postpartom depression/phychosis. The way I found this info is I have some of these symtoms. I searched (surfed) the internet individual searches like vitamin A deficiency symptoms.and so on.It also could take up to a year to correct some deficiencies.
Avatar m tn I did not notice any signficant improvement after several weeks, and decided to add a vitamin B-6 supplement as I had read that B-6 helps with magnesium absorption. I felt completely cured the first day after starting the B-6. I had been waking up two hours early with severe anxiety every morning for months. The first morning after starting the B-6 I was able to sleep in, wake up feeling calm and relaxed and felt completely normal.
Avatar f tn I also tested positive Vitamin B-12 deficiency, and yes it can cause symptoms of depression and anxiety as well as (for me) attention and memory problems. As long as I stick to regular supplementation of a high potency B supplement (preferrably food based), a multi-vitamin and eat well my symptoms clear up fairly rapidly and my energy improves. You can also increase your intake of animal products, as they are good sources of Vitamin B 12. Good luck!
941766 tn?1257796601 Like the person above me replied the Vitamin B family is great for anxiety and depression. I also have used 5HTP, L-Thenine, and Ashwandha with pretty decent success. I have heard that st Johns Wort is good for the depression side but it never really did anything for me. Oh, I also tried Valerian Root but that just made me tired. I'm glad you are looking to go natural too.
574118 tn?1305135284 B12, at least in the pill form, is a vitamin that is often given for concentration and energy deficiency. I have taken it before during depression to aid me coming out of it and I would say that yes, if you are not in a state of deep depression and you are bipolar, the shots could aid in inducing mania.
Avatar f tn t get my script filled a couple times because I had so much left over. And then Autumn hit, and with it the blues, and with the depression came the anxiety and panic attacks. I was seriously considering talking to my doctor about restarting the Klonapin, just for the darker months. But that was not what I wanted, as I did not want to be dependent on it once again. So upon doing some research on natural remedies I found a LOT of information on the vitamin B6.
Avatar f tn I am not sure it would cure my depression by stopping anti-depressants and only taking vitamin B.

1692515 tn?1306270048 I don't think doctors really know all of the causes for Fibromyalgia. Anything is possible. Very likely, as with me, you have had vitamin D deficiency, too. That was one of the reasons I was finally diagnosed myself. Since I know vitamin D deficiency has been noted as a root cause for why some people get Parkinsons, then I know vitamin D is important for neurological function. Also, be sure to have your vitamin B 12 tested.
Avatar f tn ve had good results from the L-tyrosine and Vitamin B Complex... I am 47 days CLEAN and still take the L-tyrosine EVERY OTHER DAY... If I take it every day,,,, I get a little too anxious... Rhodiola Rosea is another thing you might want to try... it's along the same line as the L-Tyrosine.. helps with re-establishing your fried neuro-transmitters... (and if you're like me... we did a good job of FRYING them) It does take awhile to start feeling normal again..
Avatar f tn Since I am b12 deficient I know I can also be deficient in other b vitamins, and while technically not a vitamin, I know that inositol/choline are/were considered b vitamins. Can I get some info on supplementing inositol/choline, what doses, taken when and if anything else should be taken (or avoided) with them? Thank you.
Avatar f tn After breakfast I took b12 and a good multi vitamin. One each. Now, I take one a day for women, b 12, and vit d. They help with energy and depression.
Avatar f tn There is no known toxicity with b3 below 3000mgs,but all vitamin b supplements work together,it is better to have a total vitamin b complex, rather than just one.Brewers yeast are another good way of including all these.
Avatar m tn Defficiency of this vitamin leads to a decrease in the neurotransmitter formation and functioning which in turn can cause depression. A person should consume vitamin B6 as per his daily requirement.Potatoes, spinach, banana, walnuts and fortified cereals are the main sources of Vitamin B6.Alcohiolics, people with hyperthyroidism and malsaborption syndromes are known to suffer from vitamin B6 defficiency.Do keep us posted. Avatar f tn My doctor put me on Prozac and every other anti-depressant in his book. Nothing worked. Until I discovered vitamin B. The last seven years of taking vitamin B supplement have changed my life. The first couple of years I was on *** ***** B-100 Vitamin B-complex. The last few years I have found B-50 to be enough. The B's have wiped out the whole problem of depression. I have not taken an anti-depressant for years and years. I never go to see my doctor anymore. Thank you,...
Avatar f tn I will try harder to remember to take the vitamins, I was taking a regular multi-vitamin and a B-complex in the beginning and felt pretty good. Then I tried an energy formulated vitamin and cut out the B-complex and feel crappy???
Avatar n tn Hypothyroidism can cause depression and in men it can cause low testosterone levels which also can cause depression. Hypothyroidism can also cause B 12, Calcium and Vit. D deficiencies. So the answer to your question the chicken came first. It is important that you keep taking your replacement testosterone as it can cause issues of it's own. I'm not sure about the estrogen relationship. If your taking your meds and still feeling depressed maybe you need a adjustment in your meds.
Avatar f tn The MRI scan shows no issues - they have run MRI, CatScan, EEG, EMG, Muscle Biospy, Spinal Tap, all sorts of blood work and after three weeks have found nothing except some vitamin deficiency. She still cannot walk and has confusion and short term memory - Has anyone heard of anything like this. Is it possible that is vitamin deficiency? Any Ideas appreciated. .
689528 tn?1364135841 I haven't experienced morning sickness yet. (Fingers crossed I don't) At times I'll get like a hot spell and maybe feel a little nauseated but it never lasts longer than a minute. Anyway...was wondering if everyone takes extra vitamin B?! It's supposed to help and while TTC I started taking B50 complex and I am still continuing it. I think this may be why I don't feel sick.....LOL I'll keep ya updated though cuz I'll just be 5 weeks tomorrow!!
Avatar f tn Is it ok to take B-complex for a little energy while pregnant? I am 30 weeks along and dragging butt big time!
Avatar f tn s why the medical community has finally decided to limit their use, but these organisms also affect mental health and the production of B vitamins, vital for proper nerve function. You may have had a major die-off. One thing to try is to go to the best health food store nearby and purchase their best probiotic from the refrigerated section of their vitamin area. Foods that can help with this are cultured foods, such as kim chi, sauerkraut, and pickles.
