Avatar n tn Vioxx was withdrawn from the market in 2004 due to heart/stroke issues. I doubt you can even get it, but if for some reason it id given to you, ask for something different. I know a couple of other people who have gout with no rise in uric acid. So yes, it probably is best to just go ahead and get treated if your doctor agrees. I assume you've probably already been to the doctor by now. Hope it's cleared up. That pain can be brutal!

Avatar m tn I was given vioxx years ago, read the warnings about heart attacks and such, and threw them all in the trash! Not much later it was pulled from the market. If I lost a loved one, $$ isn't going to bring the back anyway, it's all stupid. If I do myself in, I guess I will come back and haunt the manufacturers....BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...........
Avatar f tn There was no money exchanged or special consideration given to get Vioxx on the market. However, Vioxx is a good example of a study not digging deep enough into long term effects of a new drug. Vioxx was introduced in 1999 and was originally thought of as a treatment for polyps in the intestinal track.
Avatar m tn I have a long history of controlling severe headaches and body pains with over the counter pain relievers, and I used to take Vioxx until it was removed from the market. Should I be concerned about kidney damage at this point? I am 62.

Avatar n tn I had a DVT that went through my heart and into my lungs(PE). A valve was damaged, also one chanber of my heart. My problem is that I wasn't diagnosed as a "heart attack", but rather a "pulmonary embolism", and the lawyers representing me in my vioxx lawsuit say it has to be a heart attack, not a PE. Isn't a heart attack part of a PE? Rather, did I suffer a heart attack as well as a pulmonary embolism?
Avatar f tn What should I do?...I have been having a few minor side effects from it...But should I have it removed or finish the two years I have left on it?....
Avatar m tn HI I already had a pars plana vitrectomy in both eyes, all the "floating" floaters have been removed but the ones on the capsular bag can only be removed with scrubbing wich will cause cataract... that is what my doctor said. And I should wait for a 8mm + lens. Should I maybe see another doctor? Do you know anything about the WIOL-CF lens?

Avatar n tn [2] A series of small-scale studies completed in Germany found that H. procumbens was indistinguishable from Vioxx in the treatment of chronic low back pain,[3] and was well-tolerated after more than four years of treatment of H. procumbens alone.[4] H. procumbens also seems efficacious in the treatment of arthritis-caused hip and knee pain.
Avatar m tn My understanding is the acutane was removed from the US market by the manufacturer in 2009 because of severe side effects. Dry eyes have been reported with acutane. In most cases it has cleared up after several months but I easily found reports of dry eyes that lasted for years. This is the link http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
