In this study, we report 2 patients in whom tongue cancer was detected during the treatment of HCV-related liver disease. In one patient, tongue cancer was detected during the treatment of HCV-related liver cirrhosis, and articular rheumatism developed thereafter. The duration of HCV-related liver disease was 10 years.

Avatar m tn Thyroid cancer tends to be very slow growing and non-aggressive with very low mortality. It's also very common. Standard treatment to remove it surgically, which was done. Likely it would have never caused you problems and it's gone anyways.
Avatar n tn s like the whole experience leaves you with a deep sense of mortality, but the breast cancer patient is immediately distracted with all the treatment options, plus is allowed to feel sad, angry, etc. If benign, you are SUPPOSED to feel happy, but instead that feeling of mortality lingers. Other comments?
Avatar m tn I'm only 14 years old and there's a bump on my anus.. it's about the size of a pea, maybe a little smaller but I can see it clearly on the anus. I'm VERY VERY scared that it could be something like cancer. It's like under the skin and it's sorta hard so I'm thinking it's probably cancer. I'm really freaking out right now and I don't know what to do! Is there a likely chance that my mortality is at risk? and what could this growth be?
Avatar f tn We have never seen a number needed to treat with an endpoint of mortality that is this low. Oncologic interventionalists would be ecstatic if they could have a cancer regimen that would prevent cancer or treat cancer with this type of number needed to treat. Get off the dime. Look hard at your cirrhotic and fibrotic patients. Don't wait for new therapies.
Avatar n tn coronary heart disease, stroke, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, hip fracture, pulmonary embolus, and death due to all causes. A lot of additional data was collected in order to compare similar groups of women in terms of other factors. The women were similar in terms of baseline risk factors for cardiovascular disease and cancer, although the women who had their ovaries removed were slightly older and slightly more likely to be using or have used hormone therapy.
Avatar f tn t they cured cancer yet, or wishing for the cure. There are hundreds of different types of cancers and they call react differently to chemicals (medicines). There are people with PVCs who are at higher risk but it's not because of the PVCs per se, it's due to the root cause which could be something like ARVD, or a defect, and having these issues creates symptoms like PVCs. Don't focus on the PVCs themselves. Focus on the health of the cardiac muscle.
4309115 tn?1357606283 Here's the stats. Note that hep C is the number one cause of liver cancer, liver transplantation and kills more people in the US than AIDs. When considering these stats remember that they do not include the people who would have died if they did not get a liver transplant. http://www.cdc.gov/hepatitis/C/cFAQ.
Avatar n tn I had no node involvement and the cancer was er+ 60% and pr+90%. My first question is does my chance of survival change because the pr was more receptive than the er or does hormone therapy work as successfully on either. I have also been on tamoxifen for the past few months but I am about to commence ovary suppression with zoladex and then start femara. Would this be what you would recommend for my type of cancer or should I stay on tamoxifen for another 1 to 2 years and then change.
Avatar f tn m a 31 year old male and about 5 months ago I noticed 2 bump on the side at the very back of my tongue which can only been seen if I stick it out really far, I went to the doctors because I also had a whiteish or yellow patch on the top of my tongue which they thought was due to gerd (acid reflux) they also mentioned mild thrush and put my on Medican for both (the nystatin did nothing for oral thrush) so they concluded it was acid reflux.
Avatar f tn My researching of ventral under toungue comes up as possible cancer etc as it’s more than three weeks. Would tongue cancer start this way or could I just be an infection.
Avatar m tn I'm thinking of having an Esophagectomy and from what I read about this procedure really scares me. Had surgery before but nothing like this and I'm wondering if it's really worth the risk. Having a feeding tube hooked to an intestine after surgery doesn't sound like much fun and still having a chance of choking is what I'm trying to get away from. I discussed my questions with the surgeon and he said I was the most negative person he talked to all day.
1039578 tn?1293978096 s cousin went through the pegasys and copegus therapy and smoked 2 pks a day or so... i maybe smoke five cigs a day max ok but his cuz got lung cancer after finishing therapy and blamed therapy for it coming on so young, he was 32... so i was wondering what y'all thought about it... because my hubby'sgiving me a hard time about a freaking cigarette!!! and not giving them to me when i want them... so that's all. well also about the the other...
Avatar n tn My mother had cancer removed from her colon in Jan 2010, in May 2010 she was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in her liver. She was given 2 to 6 months without chemo and 1 to 2 years with chemo. She is 50 years old. She is getting chemo treatments but continues to drink lots of beer and eat very little. Does the beer prevent the effectivness of the chemo?

Avatar f tn Statistical analysis showed that during the 25 years of follow-up, women who had removal of normal ovaries had a higher all-cause mortality rate, mainly from coronary heart disease and lung cancer. Although there was a lower incidence of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and in fact all cancers in the women who had their ovaries removed, the risk of death from cancer was higher. At no stage of the study was survival higher for the women whose ovaries were removed.

Avatar n tn Very few of the millions that have hepatitis C have to face their mortality as all cancer patients I know have. Also the good news is that Hepatitis C cure rates are between 70-80% now!!! So even if you have hepatitis C you have a great chance of being cured of it for the rest of your life. Are you taking and drugs for your cancer or other reasons? Many drugs can injure the liver and raise AST and ALT levels. Please try to focus on positive things.
