armour-thyroid

Avatar f tn Its caused by antibodies attacking the thyroid. In this case meds are increased as the thyroid dies off more. In the beginning of Hoshimotos disease you can flip flop from hypo to hyper to normal for periods before you gradually go hypo. Does not happen to all. This is diagnosed from two antibody tests. Did she have these tests? 2)Temporary hypothyroidism: Can be caused by other health issues going on - good to find out what the real problem is. The thyroid gland is very fragile.
Avatar n tn I take levxoyl 150mcg and they just changed it from 175mcg. Can to much thyroid medicine cause acid reflux to start?
415098 tn?1214856836 that just seems like too big of a decrease....they should keep you on .150 5 days a week adn .125 on the weekends and see where you go. Do you see an endo? Usually they will do something like this rather than decreased dosage all 7 days. I would ask about that.
Avatar f tn I have had thyroid problems for 4 years, my medicine has been changed 18 times and it is still not regulated. I am very frustrated with being tired all the time and gaining weight. Is it normal to take this long to find a dosage that helps ?!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with pcos last year we'll they put me on different meds to help control it including thyroid medicine. I've been off of it for 2 weeks because of being sick (which last week I found out it was morning sickness cuz that's when I found out I was pregnant) and my levels have gone up. I have to get back on my medicine and was wondering if anyone else is taking it while pregnant? I know my doctor wouldn't have given me the go ahead if it would harm the baby.
Avatar m tn I just read this article that says that women who take thyroxine medicine are more likely to have homosexual children, is this true?? Here is the link to the article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1478256/Pregnant-women-who-take-slimming-pills-are-more-likely-to-have-gay-children.html This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/264716'>23wks pregnant high tsh </a>.
Avatar f tn Do you know what type of thyroid cancer it was or was it metastases of the lymphoma? If his entire thyroid was removed he needs to be on thyroid replacement therapy but this needs to be discussed with the doctor who may be keeping him off the meds so he can have radioiodine (I-131 or, as we call it here, RAI) treatment.
Avatar f tn In my opinion it would be far better to test for and use the biologically active thyroid hormones, free T3 and free T4 to evaluate and dose your daughter, based more on her symptoms. To better understand your daughter's situation, has the doctor determined the cause for her first TSH level, that was so high? Has the doctor tested for thyroid antibodies? If not, that would also be a good idea, because it can affect her treatment.
Avatar f tn Xanax for shortness of breath and palps???!!! What were your thyroid levels at this time? These are signs of hypo and hyper both. Did he bother to run a Free T4 and Free T3 on you with a TSH?? I usually get these symptoms when I am hypo, and then I know it is time for labs and med increase. How long ago did you have surgery? 125 mcg of synthroid is not a complete full dosage with you not having a thyroid, in my opinion.
Avatar n tn 12- do i need to go on thyroid medicine- let me know- sometimes I am a little tired and need an afternoon nap but I attribute that to poor sleep. This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/264995'>High TSH,Normal T4 T3</a>.
Avatar f tn Hi, thank you for your suggestion :) During the growth of my goiter, my father intruded my son and I to alternative medicine by michael kessler. My son and I tried for about 2 months and it made my son's condition worse and my goiter much bigger . My son tsh was very high and now has to take a high dosage to control his thyroid. The alternative medicine he was taking was absorbing his thyroid medicine, it was if he was not taking any of his actual medicine.
Avatar n tn I noticed on your discussion board that the latter is a generic. Now, what I would like to know is which is the best medicine I should be taking and how should I approach my Endocrinologist for a change in prescription. I want to thank you very much for having this message board to solve problems. This is great and your are to be commended for taking time to answer questions.

Avatar f tn Anyone else having thyroid issues during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Thanks again Barb135. You said that you never had to take RAI. Are you taking any of the medicine for thyroid and for how long? What is that and are there any side effects of that?
Avatar f tn Hello, These symptoms can be due hormonal imbalance or hyperhidrosis. Get your blood sugar and thyroid hormone levels checked. If the symptoms persist then chronic infections by getting a complete blood profile and a hormonal profile needs to be done. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar m tn I have smouldering myeloma and thyroid problems - multinodular goitre. Thet are offering 2 solutions, thyroidectomy or radioactive iodine. I see an endocrinologist, a haematologist and a rheumatologist as I have rheumatoid arthritis: all have different opinions and lean towards differing treatments. I really need 'joined up medicine! Any thoughts on this?
Avatar f tn Mainstream medicine has serious limitations which is why alternative medicine is in such favor with the educated middle class. "Unconventional" is sometimes a compliment.
1503643 tn?1311518238 Because I've had 5 surgeries on my neck and no longer have a thyroid...it is difficult for me to belt out a tune the way I used to. As a matter of fact...I really never know just what is gonna come out of my pipes when I open up and try to sing. Sometimes...if conditions are just right...I can sing a song or two. New Years had a couple of those rare moments. Once singing backup for my youngest son Chris. We sang, "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton. That one was fun.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Graves Disease 7 years ago and had radiation on thyroid that killed too much so I'm on levothyroxine 88 MCG. My question is - Would I gain weight if I only took half my pill daily? I only weigh 92 pounds and need to gain weight.
