Can anyone tell me if they quit suboxone @ 2 mg / day and how long w/d lasted, and how bad it was.
I've been on suboxone for years (4 or 5) and trying to get off. I am down to a quarter a day, but when I try to go below that or try to go a day or 2 w/out any I feel like hell (especially when i try to go w/out). I want off of this and I don't know how to do it and be able to get through the day. Any advice would be so appreciated. thank you! p.s. would starting a daily exercise program (something simple), like walking, help ?
I was wondering when I would start to feel withdrawal symptoms from suboxone and how bad they will be. I have been taking 8mgs a day for about 4 months. My doc tapered me off this week. 2 days @ 6mg, 2 days @4mgs, 2 days @ 2mgs and today nothing. I feel the same. No major withdrawal. When will it happen? Does it take a few days to wear off? How long? Any advice helps. Thanks!

I've been on suboxone for a year and my doctor and I decided that it's time to come off. I did a slow taper down to .5 grams per day. I'm on day 5 and can't stand the inability to sleep.Any advice on this and how long this is going to last? I'm super frustrated. Thanks for any feedback.
People who have more w'd than they think is appropriate when stopping Suboxone forget, or don't know, what opiate withdrawal is like; it is well known that methadone withdrawal, for example, goes on for months and months. Heroin withdrawal tends to be shorter and more intense; the phrase 'kicking the habit' comes from the involuntary muscle movements during heroin withdrawal.
maybe you should stop taking it 2 days before the last day of work because well in my case the third and forth day are the hardest then it give you a few days of being sick not at work
I was prescribed to Percocet for 5 yrs. and started suboxone once withdrawls started. It was 8 mg strips and I was taking a quarter to half a strip a day. The first week went smooth but on the 7th or 8th day I started to feel a tingle sensation on the left side of my chest. I continued to take it for a week and the tingle would occur out of nowhere. I went to er because I was freakin out about it.
Hello, I've been on Suboxone for 4 years, and oxi-contin for 2 years before that, 10 days ago i decided it was time to get off of the suboxone. I started a catapres patch the second day, and the withdrawals were still bad, but tolerable. I took the patch off on the 7th day and on the 8th day I started to come back into intense withdrawal. The doctor gave me 4 patches but only becuase it comes 4 to a pack I guess? Can I put another patch on now and be fine?
ive been on suboxone and ONLY suboxone for about 5 months now. i was pretty surprised at how bad the suboxone withdrawal was...i was okay for the first two days and after about 48 hrs i went into pretty intense withdrawal. i am a tiny girl though (5", 97lbs) and i don't know if that really makes a difference but i was taking a little less than a quarter a day so our dosage is kinda close. today is day 7 and i feel SOOO much better. still a little down but i know that's normal.
I have been taking Suboxone for 3 years, I tapered down to 2 mg a day from 24 mg a day. I want to quit. I took 40 10 mg norco's from 80 mg to 30 mg to maybe kick the suboxone off the receptors. I am on day 6 with no sleep and RLS. Do I really have to do two months of this to get clear? I do not think I am strong enough for that. Should I go back on suboxone and taper down a lot lower.? Thanks, I am in misery. Ben.
I stopped 15mg a day of Methadone in May, and was given about 50 8mg Suboxone pills from a freind. After a month of taking one pill every 2 or 3 days, I started taking 1/2, and eventually 1/4 pills. When I quit I continue to withdrawal for days and days afterward. How long does suboxone take to get out of your system? Im on day 4 and things just get worse!! My doctor cant see anyone unless you make an appointment weeks in advance, school starts in 3 weeks and I am at a loss.
used suboxone for about 2 weeks. started taking recommended 16mg/day, then started doing 8mg a day then eventually every other day and finally 9 days ago I took like 40mg at once stupidly to get a final high, or attempt to. i felt fine up until 2 days ago... i dont know how but i didnt have withdrawal til then... now i am EXTREMELY tired... like cant walk or do work for long periods of time... i get goosebumps as random as anything... hot/cold flashes, sweats...
But they still must do the work of getting their tolerance down, and that takes time and misery. It is not 'Suboxone withdrawal'; it is withdrawal from the opioids that the person has been using BEFORE taking Suboxone. The withdrawal from opioids generally takes a couple months. With Suboxone, the dose/response curve is not linear, but instead has a ceiling-like plateau.
It's surprising to me that there's so many people on this site who say they have experienced extreme withdrawal symptoms after they stop taking suboxone (even while completely following a doctor's plan). I've been on suboxone for almost 2 months now, but I've now started taking the suboxone sporadically. (Just an FYI, my dosage is supposed to be 16mg/day). I have gone two full days without taking any suboxone a couple of times now.
Hello. Suboxone has a pretty long drawn out withdrawal.. Unfortunately many of us suboxone users dont realize this until its time to quit. My best advise is to get down to even smaller amounts.. Like a quarter of a quarter.. or tiny crumb of sliver..then every other day.. You will probably have some withdrawal no matter what you do. Just brace yourself and hang in there.. All the normal tips for easing the withdrawal - lots of fluids, advil, hot baths, and exercise..
but he will be in day 5 detox and has asked me to be with him as he will not retain anything or be able to communicate properly. I used to work with this doctor years ago so we know each other. this doctors plan was to stabilze on the proper dose and wean slowly for many many months...of course...acepted conventional approach. thing is my son was not on the dose that worked for him long enough. I wonder what the doc will suggest 2 days from now. I wonder what my son will choose.
I am also on day 40 with no suboxne and it has been a nightmare for me. I must say things do get better. I still have no energy and still don't enjoy the things I used to. Including food and pop, and work. Struggling this quarter in school and I know it from this. I also missed 1 week of work. The only light I see is this is the first time in 9 years on no pain meds or suboxne. I wish I could enjoy it more being clean but have no energy to get up still. Taking B vitiams and Tyrosine still.
I've been on suboxone for 5 days now, tapering more and more each day. i started at about 1.5 mg's on wednesday night, 1 on thursday night, nothing on friday, then about .3 mg's last night. i probably only have about .3 mg's left, but i dont even want to take it unless i need to. Has anyone ever bene in this situation before? i really wanna know what to expect...like, how long til ill feel withdrawals (if I will) and if i do, how long til they peak, then eventually subside...
30pm. As I keep reading and researching about suboxone I am getting more and more afraid that I am going to have withdrawals from the suboxone(which I heard was worse). I am contiplating not taking the suboxone today and just stopping. Will I gert withdrawals from suboxone from taking it for 2 days? If so how long do you think they will last?
Over the years, many have taken the medication to avoid withdrawal symptoms from their drug of choice only to find later that the withdrawal from suboxone is much worse than if they had just gone through the withdrawal originally. I think suboxone has it's place, but the casual pain killer abuser should think twice before starting a sub regiment.
I'm gonna curl up on the couch and try to sleep. Thanx for your advice. I'll keep you updated!
I seem to have a problem spelling this med like a lot of other people do. Funny. Oh well, my husband is prescribed this medication and is under a Drs care while taking it. He was handed a booklet that described the medication. What it does, what it doesn't do. There seems to be a lot of misconception about this drug, Suboxone. I will quote from the booklet. At appropriate does Suboxone can: *Help to suppress withdrawal from prescription pain medications, heroin, or similar full opioid agonists.
I AM TAKING 80MGS. OF METHADONE PER DAY. I HAVE HEARD IN ORDER TO TAKE SUBOXONE YOU CAN NOT BE TAKING MORE THAN 40MGS. PER DAY. I ALSO HAVE HEARD SOME PEOPLE SAY THAT THEY WERE TAKING AS MUCH AS 90MGS. OF METHADONE AND SWITCHED TO SUBOXON. WHICH IS TRUE. I NEED HELP.I LIVE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.
I was on percocet, vicodin, oxy's all kinds of pain pills for 3 years. I took 6 ultram the day before I went to the suboxone clinic for my fisrt dose, they gave me 8mg there. People have told me not to swallow the spit in your mouth until the pill is completly gone. My friend did and withdrawl hit her hard for about 15 mins. I didn't experience any withdrawl at all when I started suboxone or for the 2 years I was on it.
It is definitely a personal choice and I dont want to push you in one direction or another as getting clean is top priority. But I have to tell you that from experience suboxone withdrawal, for me and others, was no walk in the park and in fact much worse than coming off of vics, percs etc. Just dont be fooled into thinking there is a way to do this without any withdrawal because there isnt -- unfortunately.
