I have dull stomach pain just below the sternum. It hurts worse when I'm getting hungry but scared to eat to much cause I been getting this feeling that I need to throw up everyone I eat a little too much. I used to be Abe to eat rice and pasta but now can't seem to digest it. It seems to get stuck around my upper rib area and then I eventually end up throwing my dinner up. On June 1st I weighed 203. As of today, October 19th, I weigh 162.
Hello. I have now gone on a couple of months of pain under my sternum. It started when I lifted something heavy and my back was hurt badly. after a couple of weeks, my stomach feels like it's always empty. it is weird. it also feels like it's full. it's hard to explain. when I push in under my sternum, I get a sharp pain, but when I don't, my stomach does not hurt, it just feels weird. I'm not even sure if its my stomach.
Having hunger like pangs and some dull burn in my stomach right at bottom of my sternum.
Stomach gets noisy at times either while eating or a few hours afterwards. Have gas off and on and flatulence.
Have been taking Omeprazole OTC and seems to help some. Been like this for going on 6 weeks.
No bloody stool or vomiting. I have bowel movement every morning with nothing out of the normal as far as stool changes. Pretty much the same every time in color and consistency.
I am 53 and lately have started experiencing what feels like gas and bloating pain just below my sternum- It is like what I have eaten is taking along time to travel down to my stomach. I have had my gallbladder out about 21 years ago- I am on thyroid medicine and also on vicodin for lower back pain- It comes and goes and sometimes when I am laying down, it causes difficulties in breathing for a short period of time. Any clue as to what this could be.
After I eat the pain gets worse and I just tried to drink some juice and had an immediate increase in pain again. It is constant but gets worse any time I eat or drink anything. The pain does not seem serious but I am very uncomfortable and a bit concerned. Any one else had this if so what causes this and is there anyway to get relief?
a heavy burning sensation in the upper stomach nearing the lower sternum area, the breathing problem at this point was almost non existent. i went to ER they did a blood test it came back normal, and prescribed me famotidine. the pills seem to have no effect, but the pain would leave randomly, sometimes came back after eating, sometimes not. I feel bloating sometimes, and sometimes not, yesterday the pain was gone completely and everything appeared to be normal.
since saturday (today mon) first day was severe heartburn with nausea and elephant on chest feeling. Sun started having pains at bottom of sternum at top of stomach. Today had pains at bottom of sternum, with high blood pressure newest reading being 163/116 81 heart rate and pressure like elephant on chest. Along with finding a lump at bottom of sternum right in the middle with little bit of pain and the lump doesn't move. No heartburn today though.
like the area of my chest near my shoulder and arms are toned but the more it goes to my sternum it goes inward. so like from that area and my stomach all go inward towards my sternum bone. i want it so that my pecs are bigger and come out further than my stomach instead of the other way around. it looks as if my stomach is bloated and my chest is flat. like a V pointing with its point on my sternum if u can picture that. i am skinny so maybe i just need to get more?
Hi Jeanie, the radiation you refer to, ductal carcinoma in situ -DCIS, can you please let me know the site and if left or right breast? Although Annie's was ductal invasive, node neg, the site of surgery for br sparing surgery was on the outer rim of rh breast right next to the sternum. However tattoo marks extend over the sternum to the opposite left healthy breast. During the course of radiation Annie told Oncology that 'you are making the heartburn worse, you are burning too deep!
On June 2 I woke up in the middle of the night with stomach pain, went to the bathroom the pain radiated from sternum to lower stomach, the pain under the sternum was so severe it was worse than child birth. It felt like something enlarging and pushing out. I started to have diarrhea and blood. During this time I was covered in sweat and felt nauseous. This lasted approx. 2 hours, I was finally able to get off the toilet and asked my daughter to take me to the ER.
I am worried because it was getting better in the past but now my body has changed (sinking inward near lower sternum slightly) and it isn't getting better. My career and job as a martial arts/grappling teacher depends on this healing. Does anyone have any experience with this, know something that I can do, or a person I can go and see?
Mild to severe pain, tenderness and soreness near the breastbone (usually the upper left side) are symptoms, and the pain gets worse if you stretch or apply pressure to the area. That should be ruled out as the cause and seems unlikely due to the "popping" sensation.
Tietze Syndrome, on the other hand, is associated with swellings at the rib-cartilage junction, and lasts longer. (Costochondritis has no noticeable swelling.) Neither condition involves pus or abscess formation.
i would say you have hiatal hernia of the lateral esophogeal sphincter mbunting, this can cause the pain you are describing and cause pain in the chest because the acid escapes the stomach very easily when there is a hernia present so Mbunting have you had any history of back problems or had a cough in the last six weeks...or VERY heavy vomiting...

It could be lots of things at this point. I know I head really bad indigestion that resulted in stomach pain rather then acid reflux. I also know that our rib cages flare to make room for baby. Baby could also be lying in a weird spot across the top of your uterus, transverse. Ifs it too painful go to emergency and they can help. Sorry if this seems like a wishy washy answer, but if there are more details maybe we can be of more help.
My sister has just had her stomach moved from her chest to where it should be! A diagram was drawn by the surgeon. Someone suggested it had probably been there since birth! Her symptons were the same as for hatus hernia.
t noticed anything unusual, but when I am standing my upper right stomach sticks out a bit further than the left side. When I push on it it is kind of hard. All three doctors didn't notice any inflammation of my liver... Any ideas of what it could be? P.S. I have had this OCD thing for the past 2 and a half months where I continuously poke that area :S. Maybe I tightened or strengthened the muscles? LOL. It feels a bit harder on the right side than the as well..
