Hello. I have now gone on a couple of months of pain under my sternum. It started when I lifted something heavy and my back was hurt badly. after a couple of weeks, my stomach feels like it's always empty. it is weird. it also feels like it's full. it's hard to explain. when I push in under my sternum, I get a sharp pain, but when I don't, my stomach does not hurt, it just feels weird. I'm not even sure if its my stomach.
I am 57 and have been experiencing pain like a tight band just under my sternum Some times it goes in to my chest and I feel as if it might be my heart as It is often accompanied by a feeling of dread and a kind of stomach lurching feeling. It seems worse in the morning when it appears to affect my breathing. It just will not go away. My bowels are affected too and I don't know where to turn. I take omeprezole once a day which tends to make me dizzy.
Wow, you sound like me. Pain in my center chest (sternum). Slight pain under ribs. Belching. Also I have bloated feeling. Went to ED and mentioned "chest pain". Wow that was a mistake, But, they did check everything having to do with the heart and all came back normal. Do you have any more info on your problem?
I am 41, not over weight, I smoke and have been under a great deal of stress, (just lost my job I was in for 16 yrs and my very healthy active father just had open heart surgery, YES I have some stress all at once) @ a month ago I started having severe heart burn (i guess) I have never had anything like this. I bought some otc prilosec and have been taking it for 7 days with some relief but still is very painful, I would say it is moderate. I have also been eating hand fulls of tums.
I have dull stomach pain just below the sternum. It hurts worse when I'm getting hungry but scared to eat to much cause I been getting this feeling that I need to throw up everyone I eat a little too much. I used to be Abe to eat rice and pasta but now can't seem to digest it. It seems to get stuck around my upper rib area and then I eventually end up throwing my dinner up. On June 1st I weighed 203. As of today, October 19th, I weigh 162.
ve just posted to ask the same thing. Having unrelenting and incessant pain slightly to the left of my sternum, but under the ribs since my heart attacks in mid-Jan. Had a 100% blockage of the LAD, partial blockages in the LCA and RCA and 3 stents.
At the hospital they said it was pericarditis and now they say I'm "over-sensitized" to every little thing going on in my chest.
Having hunger like pangs and some dull burn in my stomach right at bottom of my sternum.
Stomach gets noisy at times either while eating or a few hours afterwards. Have gas off and on and flatulence.
Have been taking Omeprazole OTC and seems to help some. Been like this for going on 6 weeks.
No bloody stool or vomiting. I have bowel movement every morning with nothing out of the normal as far as stool changes. Pretty much the same every time in color and consistency.
Ftm 33 weeks: This morning I woke up with discomfort just down from my sternum or breast bone. After I eat the pain gets worse and I just tried to drink some juice and had an immediate increase in pain again. It is constant but gets worse any time I eat or drink anything. The pain does not seem serious but I am very uncomfortable and a bit concerned. Any one else had this if so what causes this and is there anyway to get relief?
all clear as well. Today, I have a low grade fever (100.2 was the highest) and stomach pain, directly below my sternum. It feels like someone stepped on my stomach. The pain has been pretty consistent. It felt slightly better after having some chicken soup for dinner.
What can I do next? Something is definitely wrong and I don't know that I believe that it's a stomach bug (although my daughter is sick too) and Dr said it was IBS.
What are AST/ALT levels ?
The pain in sternum may be a different one (unrelated to Hep-B). Hep-B if untreated could lead to cirrosis (of liver) and ultimately liver failure, Since your husband is already on treatment path, he should get better.

a heavy burning sensation in the upper stomach nearing the lower sternum area, the breathing problem at this point was almost non existent. i went to ER they did a blood test it came back normal, and prescribed me famotidine. the pills seem to have no effect, but the pain would leave randomly, sometimes came back after eating, sometimes not. I feel bloating sometimes, and sometimes not, yesterday the pain was gone completely and everything appeared to be normal.
Well after finishing only one drink within 15-20 minutes I start experiencing somewhat severe pain in the upper portion of my abdomen, just under my breastbone, that radiates straight through to my back. It feels somewhat like a cramp and is very uncomforable. It usually goes away about 15-20 minutes after it started. This has happened the last three times I've consumed a drink (August, December, and January).
She still has severe stomach pains which she describes as someone twisting a knife right under the sternum..She has every test under the sun and they still can't find anything wrong with her. She has compete blood work, MRI's,Cat scans, EKG, EEG, EEG 48 hour inpatient, heart work up which included 2 plus weeks outpatient monitoring physical and mental evaluations. I'm at ends wit about this and I'm fearing for her health and future.
Hi Jeanie, the radiation you refer to, ductal carcinoma in situ -DCIS, can you please let me know the site and if left or right breast? Although Annie's was ductal invasive, node neg, the site of surgery for br sparing surgery was on the outer rim of rh breast right next to the sternum. However tattoo marks extend over the sternum to the opposite left healthy breast. During the course of radiation Annie told Oncology that 'you are making the heartburn worse, you are burning too deep!

since saturday (today mon) first day was severe heartburn with nausea and elephant on chest feeling. Sun started having pains at bottom of sternum at top of stomach. Today had pains at bottom of sternum, with high blood pressure newest reading being 163/116 81 heart rate and pressure like elephant on chest. Along with finding a lump at bottom of sternum right in the middle with little bit of pain and the lump doesn't move. No heartburn today though.
