Avatar m tn Two visible causes in your case are depression and antidepressant sertraline which may be causing the loss of sensation in penis during intercourse. Depression itself is an important cause of sexual dysfunction but more important is the prolonged use of sertraline which has known side effects of ejaculation failure and paresthesia. Paresthesia is a sensation of tingling, tickling, prickling, pricking, or burning of a person's skin with no apparent long-term physical effect.
1154462 tn?1327434379 I have bipolar disorder I and am considering talking to my psychiatrist about Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) treatment. this is because I feel that the current combination of anticonvulsants and antipsychotics I'm on isn't working and honestly I'm tired of the rapid cycling. I have read about the success rate of this treatment and how it's the most effective treatment for manic depression. Would you recommend having this discussion? Currently I am on 300 mg Lamictal, 0.
7002065 tn?1443073614 that is not far away from Alzheimer disease, as Microglia cells in Alzheimer disease are also responsible for the memory loss. What is different to AD is that people who underwent IFN therapy do not have amyloid-beta plaques throughout the CNS. When my theory is correct, the removal of microglia cells will provide a recovery of normal CNS functions because the cells that produce inflammatory chemicals (microglia) get changed by a new fresh set that is unaltered.
Avatar m tn I have recently started sertraline for anxiety and depression, at the same time found I am borderline diabetic. My average level of glucose reading is 154. Can sertraline have any effect on the pancreas?
Avatar m tn I'm a 30yr old male. I was on Sertraline approx 10 years ago for depression and it seemed to work until a crash. For one reason or another over the years, my treatment has changed several times. It is 2011 and i have found my way back to sertraline. I am currently taking 10mg of buspirone 2x day and 15mg of mirtazapine for major depression and generalized anxiety. I have been feeling constantly tired, apathetic and despondent.
Avatar f tn i am thinking your dr gave you the ativan to help you thru the 1st 2 weeks of sertraline because of the anxiety it can cause. after 2 weeks the sertraline kicked in and i was calm. i rarely took ativan after the ssri kicked in. when you stop the incivek, hopefully things will get better. 1 week after incivek my only side was anemia and fatigue. best of luck with your tx.
Avatar n tn Speed is a treatment for depression, though for many it causes anxiety so it isn't usually used for that anymore. One of the natural treatments for depression is phenylalanine, an amino acid that targets norepinephrine, or adrenaline. Snris such as Effexor and Cymbalta target both serotonin and norepinephrine (which is why they too are not recommended if your primary problem is anxiety).

Avatar m tn Alzheimer is a very tricky disease in which people are refrained of the future and the feeling or experience of being old and enjoying more the life. I Learned that young people can also have this kind of disease, which means everyone is vulnerable. In one article I remember it after typing it in google as ‘ nun study treatment’. The article shows on how it can be prevented. Since prevention is better than cure.
Avatar n tn Hello. The purpose of hyperbaric chamber is to supply more oxygen to the brain cells, so that the cell death slows how and the toxins are destroyed. Hyperbaric oxygen is an established treatment modality for Alzheimer's disease, for which, drugs are still the better option. It will slow down the progression of symptoms of AD, but will not reverse the process. It can not recover the functions lost by the neuronal cell death.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Amitriptyline for a while for depression and pain but 6 weeks ago I suffered a stroke and my depression is worse so was given Sertraline along with the other.
Avatar n tn My grandpa passed away due to complications of the disease but he lived for 10 years with the disease. My family opted to keep him at home and believe me it wasn't easy. He eventually had to go in a home for 2 years before he passed due to the fact that he was completely unable to help us take care of himself. He could not walk or talk and he needed more help than what we could do. However, we went and fed him everyday and went to see him everyday.
Avatar f tn There are also a variety of natural supplements that are said to help Alzheimer's patients. One of these is turmeric. You might want to research the others. Since the outlook for the disease is so dismal, trying some natural remedies won't harm and might help.
Avatar n tn Communicaion helps, if they are living alone, call them frequently. Calling them will also let you know if she is ok or not. If staying togather take her for a walk in the evening. Showing that you care will help a lot. Also, after you start commuicating, she will communicate with you as well. She will tell you if something is wrong or there is a problem (how is she feeling and what is she thinking). Besides i think communication will just make her feel better if not anything.

Avatar f tn s pretty scary to me at 40 to think I might be like my grandmother and start the downhill slope in 10 years. Luckily, I have gotten the treatment I need for the BP, so it might not happen that soon! BUT, it might! SCARY! Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn Thirty-three patients with the diagnosis of chromosomally competent premature ovarian failure were reviewed for evidence of autoimmune disease. Thirty-nine percent of subjects had an associated autoimmune disorder, of which thyroid disease was the most common. One patient had vitiligo and one had adrenal insufficiency. A family history of autoimmune disease was elicited from 18% of subjects, all of whom proved to have an autoimmune disease themselves.
1130576 tn?1260150770 At what stage in the disease is it not ok for a person with alzheimers to live along?
Avatar m tn Coming to the medicines part, Prozac and serteraline which you are taking are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and are the mainstay of treatment for premature ejaculation. Paroxetine (Paxil) appears to be the most effective drug treatment and you can get it prescribed if the symptoms persist. Other drugs like Dapoxetine (Priligy), clomipramine and trazadone are also used for premature ejaculation. Studies have shown that clomipramine may be more useful than the SSRIs.
Avatar n tn I have been having bad headaches for a little over two months now. I have been to my primary dr. who sent me for a ct scan, then for 2 mri's the dr said they found spots in my white matter and said it could be caused from multiple diseases such as ms, or alzheimer, people who have diabets and migraines. But said none of this is causing my headache, and couldnt find reason why was having them.
612551 tn?1450022175 Happily, no serious side effects but the fatigue is also present due to bereavement/grief struggle and that may the main driver for fatigue, Sertraline may eventually reduce that depression-type symptom, fatigue. Welcome any experience on how long it took to notice: 1) benefit, 2) decrease in side effects. Yes, I can search the web but look form the personal touch of a living patient telling of their experience.
Avatar f tn So, to prevent these episodes every few years, I have decided to take my doctors advice, and stay on sertraline, I guess for the rest of my life. My dose has been lowered to 25 mg. But I still struggle with the drowsiness. I drink a lot of coffee. The drowsiness makes me feel lazy, and feel bad about myself. Does anyone have any suggestions or similar experiences?
Avatar n tn The most common side effects of Sertraline that you should watch out for are nausea, diarrhea and sleep disturbances, in that order. There are a lot of other side effects listed for Sertraline, but these are the ones commonly encountered. Drowsiness and excessive sleep may be seen with Clonazepam. Other side effects are rare. I won't be able to comment much on the effects of the initial dosage on your blood pressure, as it differs person to person.
Avatar f tn t think I had that , also mild back flow of left heart valve. Treatment was a shot of cortisone in each hip and priscribed Meloxicam 1 day for 6 weeks this all helped a great deal.
Avatar n tn did not want to take responsibility for that area of my health) I have a follow up on my change from 50 mgs of sertraline to 100 mg and a decrease of wellbutrin of 300 down to 150 a day in 2 weeks. The sertraline has taken my already somewhat lack of interest in sex to a null completely. I know this is a side effect, pretty common one.
