Avatar m tn I have recently started sertraline for anxiety and depression, at the same time found I am borderline diabetic. My average level of glucose reading is 154. Can sertraline have any effect on the pancreas?
Avatar m tn I'm a 30yr old male. I was on Sertraline approx 10 years ago for depression and it seemed to work until a crash. For one reason or another over the years, my treatment has changed several times. It is 2011 and i have found my way back to sertraline. I am currently taking 10mg of buspirone 2x day and 15mg of mirtazapine for major depression and generalized anxiety. I have been feeling constantly tired, apathetic and despondent.
612551 tn?1450022175 Happily, no serious side effects but the fatigue is also present due to bereavement/grief struggle and that may the main driver for fatigue, Sertraline may eventually reduce that depression-type symptom, fatigue. Welcome any experience on how long it took to notice: 1) benefit, 2) decrease in side effects. Yes, I can search the web but look form the personal touch of a living patient telling of their experience.

Avatar f tn ve been suffering from periods of depression and anxiety for the last 5 years. To cut a long story short it came to a head last month and decided to start a course of Sertraline (50mg). As most people taking anti depressants would say it takes 1-2 months to get the benefits and also putting up with possible side effects. I personally had the side effects of extreme tiredness/ lethargy, lack of motivation and slight Nausea.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Amitriptyline for a while for depression and pain but 6 weeks ago I suffered a stroke and my depression is worse so was given Sertraline along with the other.
Avatar f tn Hey i have been suffering from Depression and im 5 months pregnant the doctors say it can get worse after the baby gets here ive been prescribed Sertraline but i don't know how it will affect the baby.. should i take the medication or is it too much of a risk?
Avatar n tn Yes, I am on Sertraline for anxiety and depression. Zoloft works well for my depression and Xanax helped me for my Panic attacks. Now, I am on lower dose of Zoloft and my symptoms are much better.
Avatar n tn I'm diagnosed with ADHD and depression at 25mg amphetamine tab daily (15 morning, 10 lunch), and 15mg Sertraline every breakfast, respectively. Regarding the ADHD, my psychiatrist told me I should probably take a "pill holiday" with the Adderall every once in a while when I don't study or when I am not doing much work. I tried that once, but I think it somewhat threw off my treatment for depression.
Avatar f tn Depression is definitely normal during pregnancy because of all the extra hormones you are producing. You need to talk to your doctor ASAP and let them know you have a history of depression, this way they can put you on meds. Your depression might also get worse after you give birth so do something about it now. This way the meds will be in your system and working by then. The stress and depression isn't just bad for you, it's bad for baby as well.

Avatar m tn (Assuming no other condition is present and subject is a healthy 21-year old male who takes sertraline for depression, beta blockers for anxiety-caused tremors, and viagra for obvious reasons.) Thanks!
Avatar f tn The best is which one you metabolize better and that works best for you. If you want it for as-needed relief, I would say klonopin isn't as good because it takes longer to work, though it does work longer as well. Klonopin is usually dosed regularly every day, but they don't tell you, of course, that makes it addictive. Never told me. Safer to take them as needed, and for that purpose I'm not sure klonopin is the best because of the time it takes to work.
Avatar f tn I have had severe depression for over 7 years. Since then I have been on Sertraline (Zoloft) and other medications. Before getting pregnant I talked with my doctor and he assured me the medications I take are safe. Then, when I became pregnant, he told me to stop my second antidepressant and take only sertraline. Today was the last day with the second antidepressant.

Avatar f tn Hi moms, anyone has ever had sertraline prescribed for depression while pregnant? I'm 30 weeks pregnant and just picked up my prescription but I'm very concerned to take it because I just read all the risks I'm exposing my baby to :( I will appreciate if anyone shares their experience with it, my Dr said it's ok for me to take it but I'm not sure what I want to do anymore, yes I'm depressed but I don't know if it's worth the risk. Please help me, thanks.
Avatar f tn Im almost 7wks pregnant and on 50mg of sertraline for anxiety. There are a few risks with every med while pregnant however your doctor felt the benefits over ruled. Sertraline is probably the safest antidepressant to take while pregnant. Ive talked to people who took it while pregnant and have had healthy strong babies. One lady i spoke to even had 3 beautiful baby girls while taking 100mg during all 3 pregnancies. Try not to worry to much. Everything will be fine.
Avatar m tn I am on Sertraline and other antidepressants for many years. I just had sexual intercourse 1 year back and cannot feel any sensation in my penis. I have had sex around 20 times in the last one year as I have an on/off gf. I have no problem in getting an erection. There is very little sensation of pleasure and mild sensation of some heat in the vagina during intercourse. I cannot change the anti depressants , like moving to Welbutrin. Please advise if I can take anything before intercourse.
Avatar m tn it is very common to have sexual dysfunction issues with medications like sertraline. let your provider know how much of an issue this is for you. Often options include trying other meds with less of this particular side effect (for depression/anxiety often pristiq, effexor, cymbalta) or adding another med to the sertraline such as wellbutrin/bupoprion. It can take some trial and error but it can get better!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with depression many years ago, and have been on a variety of anti-depressants in that time. When I stopped Sertraline, my depression came back within months, and my doctor then put me on to Effexor. Are you like me, think you can cope without medication? Take your time withdrawing, and see how you go. Anti-depressants are not addictive as such, but when we lower the dose, or stop taking it, often the depression returns. Crying may not help you release your feelings.
Avatar m tn I was at my wits end because of the symptoms and went to my doctor, two months ago, who prescribed sertraline for depression? Since posting here i have just gone and looked up Sertraline. It seems the side effects of that are very similar to withdrawal symptoms? Like i said i was getting symptoms before i started the Sertraline. In hindsight though it does seem to have gotten worse. Just let me add, when i went to my doctor it was more for my physical symptoms than mental ones.
1312584 tn?1280934685 Last August I was diagnosed with severe depression and for three months was at rock bottom. After one of my suicide attempts I ended up in hospital and have had many ups and downs since then. I won't say I'm over it because you can never really be sure, but I definitely am a lot stronger.
Avatar f tn Really struggling at the minute with trying to find the right mes to help my anxiety which then turns into depression sertraline (Zoloft) has made me worst these last 5 weeks of being on it from 50mg to 100mg then 150mg sent me way over had 100mg today and been back to docs he prescribed me 37.
5894884 tn?1386969571 I have to add, although I stopped my antidepressants as soon as I found out (cold turkey w/o dr) sertraline (Zoloft) was a godsend for me. I was on it for 3 years prior to becoming pregnant and had severe depression and panic disorder. That medicine was at the time the best thing I ever did for myself. I didn't know it was safe while pregnant and I was terrified id hurt my baby so I just stopped.
Avatar f tn I am on day 16 of taking 50mg sertraline after switching from cymbalta to try and find a saferdrug to try for pregnancy. Week one I was emotional but that settled down and week two was manageable and i felt generally calmer. However by day 14 anxiety smptoms worsened and i am feeling flushed in the face and tingly in arms and waking early feeling unable to cope with nerves and sweating. Should I stick it out?
Avatar f tn Hub is starting week eight of the triple with Incivek, and has had trouble with the anxiety, mental roller coaster etc since the beginning. He had similar problems when he treated with riba/pegasys in 2009, so not sure if the incivek is magnifying the side effects or that he's just older and the treatment is so rigorous. He really wanted to avoid using an ssri if possible, and was on wellbutrin, then added ativan for acute anxiety.
