Avatar f tn I have ocd, this year is going to be my 5th year with ocd and with anxiety, with despersonalization and irreality.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have suffered from GAD, Depression and OCD for over 30 years. In recent years, it had been fairly well controlled as I had started on Effexor XR over 300mg years back, and by 2014 had tapered down to 75mg per day. Last year suffered some trauma in a near fatal crash, and mentally did fine in the aftermath. In any event, after leaving the hospital last August, I ended up having relapsing symptoms. I have had what I consider to be an excellent Psychiatrist for years.
Avatar m tn it is very common to have sexual dysfunction issues with medications like sertraline. let your provider know how much of an issue this is for you. Often options include trying other meds with less of this particular side effect (for depression/anxiety often pristiq, effexor, cymbalta) or adding another med to the sertraline such as wellbutrin/bupoprion. It can take some trial and error but it can get better!
Avatar f tn It usually takes at least 2 wks for it to really work and side effects to go away, for me at least. For depression it acts quicker, but for anxiety/OCD it takes longer, like 6 weeks. Everyone gets headaches with or without zoloft, so it could just be a natural thing that you're attributing to the zoloft. It is good to be safe... but try toughing it out and giving it 8 weeks.
Avatar m tn I'm a 44 years old man.I've come through major OCD since my childhood.I experienced the problem at the age of 7 or 8.At the age of 21 while going through severe constant panic attack I started medication with tricyclic antidepressant clomipramine.Because the result was not satisfactory I had to switch to many different antidepressants. Eventually when I started with sertraline in 1998 it changed my life for the better.
Avatar m tn As you can imagine these thoughts are really starting to get my down and affect my ability to perform at work. I have been taking sertraline (50mg) for about 4 weeks and have also started CBT and have found that both of these have helped but thoughts are still with me albeit a bit more muffled. I am sure my problems with intrusive thoughts have been caused by using ecstasy.
Avatar m tn These are medications that are often prescribed for OCD, anxiety, depression. The sertraline can have side effects. What are you feeling like? I don't want to list side affects because I don't want you to start looking for particular one. :) How much Sertraline are you taking and how much alprazolam do you take during the day?
Avatar f tn Sertraline and Quetiapine - I have just been allocated a mental health support worker too.
Avatar f tn First of all I do suffer terrible anxiety/ocd. I attended my gp a few weeks ago regarding a breast lump I felt in my left breast. She felt it and said she's not worried but will send me to the breast clinic for reassurance. I went back last week because my anxiety is through the roof thinking it's cancer.
Avatar n tn This is likely not an example of PANDAS. The first example may have been, but it resolved spontaneouslyThe current situation is far more likely to be due to a legitimate OCD. With treatment, the prognoisis is good. But absolutely treatment, consisting of both therapy and medication, will be required if OCD is ultimately diagnosed.
Avatar m tn My psychiatrist has prescribed me 50mg of seroquel for my OCD. However, I have heard that Seroquel can shrink your brain. Is it worth it? What do you guys think of these studies? http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/mad-in-america/201102/andreasen-drops-bombshell-antipsychotics-shrink-the-brain http://www.psychiatrictimes.com/antipsychotics-and-shrinking-brain http://www.medpagetoday.

Avatar m tn m having severe OCD and put me on sentraline medication. The test came out negative and I was really happy but on for 3 hrs after that the fear came back because the doctor during test he never used capilary tube but straight away swab the blood from my finger to the alere determine combo pad and I keep on thinking that I might infected my self. Even tough I know my doctor won't do anything to put a patient in danger but the thought keep on repeating.
Avatar f tn My obgyn didn't know what to prescribe so she took me to the ER and sat there with me for five hours for a psychological eval. It was so embarrasing and they don't treat you with very much dignity, but at least she stayed with me, and there was actually a crazy person there shouting the whole time so that was very distracting. The social worker gave us a psychiatrist at the hospital the make an appointment with and I have an appointment today.
612551 tn?1450022175 Happily, no serious side effects but the fatigue is also present due to bereavement/grief struggle and that may the main driver for fatigue, Sertraline may eventually reduce that depression-type symptom, fatigue. Welcome any experience on how long it took to notice: 1) benefit, 2) decrease in side effects. Yes, I can search the web but look form the personal touch of a living patient telling of their experience.
Avatar f tn re asking. I can recommend some books for you for now. Brain Lock by Jeffrey M. Schwartz helps to explain OCD and how to work through exposures. It will be extremely helpful in broadening your understanding of what your son is going through and how to help him. There is a book for children called What To Do When Your Brain Gets Stuck by Dawn Huebner which may be helpful for him. Feel free to message me.

Avatar f tn Some common SSRIs include fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine and sertraline. The study listed other pharmacologic treatments for skin picking, such as inositol, clomipramine, doxepin, inositol, lamotrigine, olanzapine, naltrexone and riluzole. In addition, the study suggested that the prescription medication worked best if combined with cognitive-behavioral therapy. Read more: http://www.livestrong.
Avatar m tn Hi all, I'm just looking for a little help & support. A few months ago I was diagnosed with OCD and Aspergers Syndrome. I've always been aware I'm a little different but due to a mental breakdown I was diagnosed. I've had a fear of HIV for a long time, possibly stemming from a bad relationship with a positive person. I've tested numerous times over the past few years & all negative.
