Seroquel tolerance

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel tolerance

seroquel

Avatar m tn Have you taken seroquel nightly for 2 years without any tolerance to the sedation? If so, thats fantastic news because I think it is the best med. I have tried for my insomnia. I am on the same dosage as you too so that makes me feel hopeful as I do not want it to stop working!
Avatar f tn I am very sensitive to most psych meds. Currently taking Celexa 1mg daily, lamictal 12.5mg daily and seroquel 50 mg at bedtime to help me sleep. I've had problems with getting to sleep and staying asleep for several years. How long can I continue to take seroquel for sleep? Sometimes it works and sometimes not.
Avatar n tn how much seroquel, xanax, and alcohol causes an overdose. im qworried about my sister, she ha been prescribed xanax for 8 years now at 2mg a day, so her tolerance is well established. she is also an alcoholic. thankfully, she knows not to combine xanax while drinking, but what about the addition of seroquel? could she OD from the pill combination alone? would then the addition of alcohol just pretty much seal her fate?
1039200 tn?1314912008 If mania / hypomania or mixed states is a concern then seroquel is best for this.
1246883 tn?1285547973 I was given Seroquel as a sleep aide in last Dec. I immediately started to gain weight. And stopped the Seroquel immediately (mid Dec). I know this is one of the side effects. I gained about 5lbs. Being 5'9" and weighing 135, I felt the 5 extra pounds would come off with eating better and a few more yoga classes . But the weight kept coming. I got down to a dietary intake of about 1000 cals. But that mad no difference.
1134609 tn?1269272200 So, I have been on ever increasing doses of Neurontin for years now; it's been my stand by as an anti-anxiety drug and a mood stabilizer (I'm BP2) However, it seems like I develop a tolerance to it pretty quickly and when I do so, each dose jacks up my anxiety level like you wouldn't believe. I got off of it a few years ago for that very reason.. My shrink and I want to use it as the primary 'downer' medication for me, but it's driving me nuts.
Avatar n tn So i am day 10 of being sober off of a 6 year vicodin habit of 40 tabs of 750mg a day and cant get more than 3 hours of sleep a night. I just got a script from my doc for Seroquel and he says it will help with my sleep and anxiety. But he says it will be about 3-4 days of feeling pretty poor. I am feeling better every day and the last thing i want to do is go through 4 days of feeling like c r a p. I have tried Lunesta, melatonin and benadryl with no luck.
Avatar m tn Can anybody tell me your experience which medicine you felt the best? I felt seroquel best but after doctor gave me rispredal saying seroquel is not good , all disaster started. What are the best medicine for you?
Avatar m tn My new psychiatrist switched me to Seroquel 100mg which I started taking on March 20, 2009. My question is can Seroquel help me on my Klonopin withdrawal? There were nights I can't sleep. I read an article that Antipsychotics should be avoided may aggravate benzodiazepine withdrawal. Please read: http://www.bcnc.org.uk/drugs.html. I am scared, please help.
603015 tn?1329862973 And as for Rozerem and Lunesta unlike the other two medications which have to be withdrawn over time if someone has built up a tolerance to them, being that this is not an issue, if the medication for bipolar adjusts itself and your sleeping becomes more normal you can stop them at that point without a problem. You might ask about those two especially Rozerem.
Avatar f tn I use to take seroquel 500mg nightly for bipolar depression and a 100 could knock out a horse... Would suggesting to her to put me on a XR med with my adderall be more effective? She just thinks the 90 is too high but I don't agree. I think I need something more.
202665 tn?1248806733 I've had the same problem... there's a certain window of opportunity for the Ambien to take effect... and if you don't snatch it, then you can feel wired, but tired at the same time. you might want to have your doc prescribe the Ambien CR instead, it's a controlled release and I find that it works pretty well... Also, may want to try Lunesta, if the Ambien is no longer working for you... but those drugs are supposed to be for temporary use only...
Avatar f tn What else is there for insomnia? I was on 100mg seroquel for insomnia. I hate the way it makes me feel; but it does work. I am now going back and forth with the pharmacy that dispenses the seroquel; I get mine through the AZandMe free meds program. Of four prescriptions that my doctor has written, the pharmacy has yet to fill even one. The last time I had my seroquel was filled was September of last year.
Avatar m tn I would be inclined to recommend something like that before Seroquel. Some people have success with Seroquel, but in my own opinion, I think an SSRI is a more reasonable choice, for a few reasons. Obviously, MANY of the symptoms you experienced that were attributed to anxiety, were actually a result of the CM. The plus side of that is, I would imagine a good bit of your anxiety will be alleviated once those symptoms are brought under control post-op. When is your surgery?
Avatar n tn Just wondering.....when my husband was heavily addicted to percocets, oxys and valium, he had little or no sex drive....but it took about 2 years to get to that point. ( 60 percocets, 300mg oxy, 200mg valium daily...approx ) When he got onto the suboxone about 5 weeks ago, his libido came back with a vengeance. Now he's on 12 mg of sub, about 20 mg of klonopin, and 75 mg of seroquel. Can someone please tell me what this combination of drugs does to a person's sex drive?
968464 tn?1247753830 Well, the heavy-duty attack is Seroquel or Zyprexa, 7 days max, but if you can get Klonopin or Valium for 10 days, that's the ticket, unless you have a big tolerance to benzos ... The sleep thing is probably the worst w/d thing -- melatonin is beneficial (go to 6-9mg as necessary -- it's OTC) ... depends on whether you've abused benzos in the past. If not, they can really help, but hold it to 10 days max. Have you tried hypnotizing your cat with a Filet 'O Fish on 20-lb.
Avatar f tn Thanks. I get nervous over doing all the meds. I wodner sometimes if it dosn't make it worse. I was hesitant but my phychartrist and family doct say Seroquel added to Lexapro is a good combinaiton for I seem to be chemically imblanced. So I'm going to give it a try. I've ried so much of th e antidepressants to no avail. I wish I coud hit on a combination that would kep the terrible feeling away. Im finding it hard to go out and I must for I work.
Avatar n tn Then more recently----my doc had me on Cymbalta with my current meds minus the Xanax but I made the personal decision to stop the Seroquel after reading the trememdous amount of horrific side effects out there, including massive weight gain-----with some, over 100 lbs in a year. Within 10 years, I went from 10mgs of the stuff to 600 to knock me out for sleep, as I always thought I was given it for my insomnia and not Bipolar.
Avatar f tn My doc gave me Seroquel and it works great, have been on it for about 7-8 years. I do not take it every night because of the weight gain. I also take over the counter stuff when I dont take my seroquel. I was diagnosed with Arnold Chiari malformation about 3 years and had surgery to help treat it. I get really bad migraines from my chiari, especially if i cant get enough of sleep. It is a struggle. Are there any other meds that any of you take that have helped you in the long term??
131829 tn?1249997363 My other medications are Lithium 450mg twice a day, Parnate 30 mg per day, Clonazepam 1mg twice a day, Inderal 20 mg once a day, Seroquel 100mg at night and then I have Xanax 1mg for breakthrough attacks that I take only when needed. I know my doses are low compared to most people but my tolerance is low and this cocktail keeps me pretty even-keeled. My neurologist has tried many tests and is limited to minimal pain and my psychiatrist is not giving me much help.
