Avatar f tn Thanks for replying. I thought he was giving me the seroquel to help stablize my moods and help with sleep. A replacement for the xanax and ambien. Didn't think the seroquel would react in such a violent way. Took last 2 xanax Moday-a little jittery and sluggish but ok...just scared after reading so much about DONT go cold turkey. He is out of town -so er would the answer. Thanks....
1168718 tn?1464983535 It was created as a replacement drug for psychophrenia, and as a replacement of what was available, it is better but even people with psychophrenia have a 70% refusal rate because of the adverse side affects. I've got a truck load of research somewhere, if such a large % of psychophrenic's would rather live with their condition than the side affect of seroquel, well thats saying something!
1039200 tn?1314912008 However have you had any episodes where there was a change in consciousness before you took Seroquel? If so inform the doctor about this. Also inform them that you have stopped the Seroquel because what it is treating will return. If this was caused by the Seroquel which they would have to determine they could then determine what would be an appropriate replacement and should do tests to rule out other causes within their discretion.
Avatar f tn However, I did read an article published by the maker of Seroquel acknowledging withdrawal symptoms. If word comes out that Seroquel is physically addicting and causes horrible withdrawals, people probably wouldn't be eager to take it and sales of the drug could drop. Seroquel is huge right now, this website is covered in ads for Seroquel. As far as the insomnia, I took Seroquel before bed because of how sedating it was for me. After 2.
1052851 tn?1307741160 I haven't had a replacement for seroquel. I just stopped taking them a few weeks ago, and so far so good. I dont find any change, except im not sleeping as deep anymore. So i'm just on antidepressants and sleep aid and other non psychiatric meds. And i know how depressing it can be when you have extra weight on. But dont stop taking anything you're on without going through the doctor first.
381616 tn?1204338334 She complained of breast milk after taking 25mg of Seroquel, which has almost no proclivity to do that. 2 weeks after stopping the Seroquel, there was no change in the galactorrhea. She also said she was hypoglycemic & had a remote hx of significant head injury. Her labs were as follows: TSH- 0.336 (0.4- 4) FT4- 1.15 (0.8-1.9) FT3- 2.3 (2.4-4.2) Prolactin 112 (1.9-25) Fasting Insulin 4 (3-19) T.
Avatar n tn My 14 year old daughter has been taking 750mg of depakote and 300mg of seroquel daily for 4yrs. She is about 50 lbs overweight & diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome. I want her off her meds. How will she be weaned and does anyone know if she will lose some of this weight gain? She is somewhat active and does try to keep her weight down but at each psych. visit she has gained more weight.
Avatar f tn I was on lithium and seroquel. Worked wonders. Im only on seroquel now cuz im pennant and it.still works but not as.
15699793 tn?1442689913 100 mg is just enough to cause similar symptoms as you experience at night. Seroquel is a very strong anti-psychotic and it is very wise to take it and go shortly after to bed. I know you may want to stay up and draw or hang out with your friends but until you can tolerate the Seroquel better it is hard to do. I had a difficult time when I first started taking it but if you want to become stable it is a great medicine.
Avatar f tn Seroquel has now worked for 3 nights of sleep. I take clonazapam and lamtrogine. What could I add as decrease 1 of these? Is tegretol a good choice? Long ago I took lithium, but ballooned up in weight. Suggestions to discuss w/my doctor?
Avatar m tn I'm prescribed Zyprexa in the "Zydis" rapid-dissolve form, 5mg, as needed "for agitation". I'm bi-polar, and sometimes I get worked up to a state that is more frustrated & agitated than it is manic, per se, The Zyprexa works well for this, except for its notorious weight-gain side effects. I just can't handle the weight issues.
Avatar m tn Does it really work? Because I have been given 10mg Diazepam and it hasn't helped that much with W/D's or stop the attacks. I have posted about this before and someone suggested that if I can't get Clonidine I should try to get Seroquel. I can't get into much detail on here, but I really need anyone who has taken Seroquel to PLEASE, post about how it made them feel, if it helped with W/D's? Did it let you fall asleep?
Avatar m tn I take 200 mg of seroquel to help me sleep if i cut it in half will it still help me fall asleep!! I only have 12 days left of seroquel and i can't see the doctor until the 8th of next month so i'm freaking out about not being able to sleep!! Please help!!
518117 tn?1429276273 I ran across something on the net about Seroquel. It was another forum that I got the info about Seroquel. On this forum someone was talking about there being a tort action lawsuit against the makers of Seroquel. That it is causing excessive weight gain, diabetes, very high blood pressure in people taking this antipsychotic. I am wanting to know further about these complications caused by Seroquel. My 28 year old son has been on this med for approximately 4 years now.
Avatar f tn I just started Seroquel. The first tab last night. I felt so trippy. It scared me and I made myself go to sleep just to avoid the experience I was having. I also heard it causes crazy weight gain. Is that true? Right now I feel nausea.
Avatar n tn Hi my name is Mike and my wife is now currently in the hospital from overdose of seroquel and maybe other medications that she might have.
563541 tn?1257877567 My sub doc gave me Seroquel. He said it was for bi-polar, but he gave it to me at 50mgs. for sleep and it really helped me sleep, just a bite out of one at night. He also said that it would linger or last through the day to help with the anxiety/depression. I don't think that has worked as I'm still a basket case. jk...
Avatar m tn If Seroquel is being prescribed as a sleep aid yes, within a psychiatrist's discretion. If its being used as a mood stabilizer then it would have to be taken every day though the timing could vary. If someone can't tolerate it at all as regards any sedation then other available options could be discussed with a psychiatrist.
Avatar f tn My doctor has recommended Seroquel for my insomnia. Since i am a parkinsons patient, I was wondering if this ,might make my parkinsons worse?
736475 tn?1281259327 the doctor put my husband on seroquel for anxiety. i was on them last year from my psychiatrist for sleep. of course i can't gauge how they worked because i was just adding them to the stew as it were. his are extended release. mine were not. the doctor gave him samples to last 1 month. he seems to be doing well on them, but i know my husband. these are going to be expensive even with insurance.
Avatar m tn i have recently got off seroquel for anxiety and i have been off of it for 4 days now and i am itchy, i am having depressed phases, i am very nauseous when does this go away before the 50mgxr i was on 100mg that was 2 weeks ago should i take another pill or just stop like i have been doing?
1039200 tn?1314912008 I believe all atypical antipsychotics are FDA approved as mood stabilizers. However, Seroquel I believe is more effective than some others but only a psychiatrist could explain for sure. The three newest antipsychotics, Abilify, Fanapt and Saphris are the least likely to cause weight gain and sedation though they can be activating. Seroquel can cause tachycardia which is a speeded up heart beat. I had that from it. That's generally not of concern.
