Seroquel replacement

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel replacement

seroquel

I took seroquel during my long term sub program getting off oxy. I took small dose to sleep well. It works like a charm, but it is hard getting up in morning. I needed coffee wake up. I dont trust much chem's anymore so I tapered off it without problems. I may need to use it to get through sub detox, so if anyone has comments, please let us know.
//www.psycheducation.org/depression/meds/moodstabilizers.htm Firstly you need a replacement for the Seroquel as what it is treating will return otherwise. Secondly even in transfering to another medication you will get some withdrawal symptoms as I did in the past when transfering from Seroquel to Risperdal which were fatigue and minor flu like withdrawal symptoms which pased in time and were not a problem. Follow your psychiatrist's titration schedule and ask them about available options.
I only have a horror story, not me, a young man with GAD was put on it to relax him enough to sleep. It was to replace the sleeping pill he was on (it was addictive) and seroquel was the replacement. What ensued was a nightmare, his behavior became psychophrenic, complete with visual and audio halusinations, his short term memory was depleted so he couldnt even remember a conversation he'd just had.
However, I did read an article published by the maker of Seroquel acknowledging withdrawal symptoms. If word comes out that Seroquel is physically addicting and causes horrible withdrawals, people probably wouldn't be eager to take it and sales of the drug could drop. Seroquel is huge right now, this website is covered in ads for Seroquel. As far as the insomnia, I took Seroquel before bed because of how sedating it was for me. After 2.5 years, my body didn't know any other way to sleep.
Hi, I have been on Seroquel for 5 years up to 1100 mg (yes, one thousand one hundred) and two years ago because of severe side effects (problems focusing and severe trembling) and because my moods were very stable my psychiatrist accepted to lower it progressively to find a dosage that would allow me to function well with less side-effects. It's been two years of gradually eliminating this drug. Everything went well up until Sept 2011 when I reached 125 mg.
I thought he was giving me the seroquel to help stablize my moods and help with sleep. A replacement for the xanax and ambien. Didn't think the seroquel would react in such a violent way. Took last 2 xanax Moday-a little jittery and sluggish but ok...just scared after reading so much about DONT go cold turkey. He is out of town -so er would the answer. Thanks....
Started Zyprexa as a replacement for Seroquel. It is known for its weight gain.
Can kanna be taken with seroquel? Not literally at the same time, but like kanna in the morning and seroquel at night? Or would just recreational kanna use be safe?
So some excellent news from today is that I have found replacement roommates and get to stay in this apartment another year at the same price! which is AMAZING. They have similar styles as me, and thus our new apartment will be beautiful! They even said they were interested in making the bay window area into a reading nook. hmmmmmmmmmm yay :) :) On another note, doctor janzen lessened my seroquel and i am already noticing that I feel worse and that I have more unplaced fear. not a fan.
However have you had any episodes where there was a change in consciousness before you took Seroquel? If so inform the doctor about this. Also inform them that you have stopped the Seroquel because what it is treating will return. If this was caused by the Seroquel which they would have to determine they could then determine what would be an appropriate replacement and should do tests to rule out other causes within their discretion.
Well, I got an eye problem but this is not an exact eye problem but if i study for long time on computer I get stress on my head. I m taking seroquel now, but in past seroquel was so much perfect. But in the mean time doctor changes medicine to respredal that made me hard for one year, Then when i try to return back to seroquel it is able to do all the thing expect one thing., that is i feel somebody put stone over my head. Or a strong wave on my head.
Hey There, I was also on quitiapine (seroquel is easier to type, lol), and I also gained a LOT of weight. I felt horrible. I have JUST gone through my LAST cycle of getting off both the clonazepam and seroquel. It happened VERY slowly, but I feel so much better being off the seroquil. I was getting less sleep for a little while, but am now on Trazodone to help me sleep. My weight is already going down again and I don't have an appetite anymore, thank god!
So, to answer your question, it won't cause anxiety if you undergo nicotine replacement theropy to quit. In my experience (and my anxiety disorder is very bad due to the nature of it and lack of treatment) it actually lessened anxiety. Try to quite for a month, having the occasional cigarette if you're feeling bold. You'll notice the different after a couple of days.
My 14 year old daughter has been taking 750mg of depakote and 300mg of seroquel daily for 4yrs. She is about 50 lbs overweight & diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome. I want her off her meds. How will she be weaned and does anyone know if she will lose some of this weight gain? She is somewhat active and does try to keep her weight down but at each psych. visit she has gained more weight.
She complained of breast milk after taking 25mg of Seroquel, which has almost no proclivity to do that. 2 weeks after stopping the Seroquel, there was no change in the galactorrhea. She also said she was hypoglycemic & had a remote hx of significant head injury. Her labs were as follows: TSH- 0.336 (0.4- 4) FT4- 1.15 (0.8-1.9) FT3- 2.3 (2.4-4.2) Prolactin 112 (1.9-25) Fasting Insulin 4 (3-19) T.
My doctor prescribed seroquel for my weight loss i took this medication for a period of 2-3 weeks in December 2009 I stopped taking it because it made me feel worse(he insisted I take it). Since then my hair has been failing out rapidly and not replacing itself even when I wash my hair it does not feel like hair anymore, he then sent me to a "friend" of his,a dermatoligist in Oshawa, who prescribed Anaphas shampoo. This has not stopped the hair loss and their is no replacement hair.
Does anyone know of a another drug, that perhaps comes in a rapid-release form, that would make sense as a replacement for the Zyprexa? I'd prefer to take something that can be used on the as needed basis. I will ask my doctor, of course, but wanted to see about other people's experiences. Thanks!
i was where todd was. being doped to the max on psychiatric meds. it is ok to be on seroquel, ad's, depakote etc etc etc. i saw what my son went through on those drugs. and to come off of them is awful. so what if i am addicted to xanax. it works for me. i take celexa, xanax and a bp med. sometimes a rescue inhaler for my copd. and i rarily use the inhaler. to be almost 54, i think i am on the least amount of meds possible. my step-son travis has a doctor that will help me with my meds.
and ur right that doesn't help the symptoms nor is it giving the seroquel an honest chance. he has anxiety attacks and relationship issues and of course the insomnia.....but the racey mind is by far the hardest for him to deal with. He is also a bodybuilder and using steriods, will this also interact with the medication and cause a worsening of the disorder?
I tapered with my doctor off of Effexor XR, no replacement. I felt at this time, I am weel enough vs how I feel for this. The trazadone I take at night and have for years. Instead of working for me, it feels it is working against me and I do think I need a anti anxiety to help with sleep and anxiety. Recently, Ihave had to take one or two ativan also and I don't like to take anything scheduled. Rezerom isn't payable by my insurance.
I have a left hip replacement which my neck and spine leans to the left which makes my posture crooked, I take medication for my neck which is: called nabunetone 500 mg, that my doctor prescribed to relax my muscles in my back and neck, do you think I am having a reaction from the meds.
-100mg Trazadone -50mg Seroquel After nearly 6 weeks of nothing more than side effects that seemed to be making me more depressed/anxious, i began to become more skeptical of my recent dx's. I researched and learned that my issues could be thyroid related. Soooo i met with an endo and he ran the following tests: On 9/26/07 Thyroxine(t4)- 7.38 (5.1-14.1)ug/dl T-Uptake- .996 (.8-1.3)TBI Free thyroxine index- 7.4 (4.8-12.7)ug/dl TSH- 2.53 (.4-4.9)uIU/ml T4,free- 1.33 (.73-1.7)ng/dl Cortisol- 20.
I normally take 1 tablet of Diotroxin (thyroxine sodium 90 micrograms and liothyronine sodium 10 micrograms) daily and now my GP said I should double the dose. I suspect the drop in the level of TSH happened because of the Seroquel 300mg(daily) I started taking 2 years ago. Now my confusion is this : How does the TSH drop that badly ( it was always in normal ranges) yet the T4 stays within normal ranges? Is this due solely to the Seroquel? Is this now Hypothyroid or Hyperthyroid?
My mom just had a knee replacement and the doc has been giving her hydrocodone....
I am nervous because I take other meds for bipolar disorder which include Lamictal,Lexapro and seroquel..I just wanted to know how long it would take,(giving my dosage and addiction for a short time), to feel normal again and not sick and what can I take or do?I don't know if an anti anxiety pill would help or motrin maybe? Thanks so much..I always tell myself that when the end of month comes,I won't call in for a refill..but I do..
Depakote Tegretol Lamictal Zyprexa Seroquel (may cause drowsiness at high doses) Trileptal So, if your doctor can hear you, but doesn't listen to your concerns, find one that will do both and has your best interest in mind. You're the patient that should leave the dr.'s office satisfied.
what do I do??? just got my son to sleep with 3x the seroquel he was prescr'd and 2 zoplincone....all I had here, he came home from work just aft lunch and was in a severe state of anxiety.....paced the floor for 6 hrs....saying what a loser he was and paranoid talking and saying he just couldn't stand feeling like this anymore hes had enough of living like this!!! Clonidine and Seroquel (sleep) and one more go at home. I've tried to help some of you out, 'cause I care. Please return the favor, objuectively as possible. Thanks. This site has helped so much ... one more kick at the can for a Desperation Unit -- want these drugs out of my life, and deal with the other bits right away. I need you.
Sonata, Ambien, Ambien CR, Lunesta, Restoril, Melatonin, Elavil, Seroquel, Provigil, Trezadone, Xanax. Bipolar 2: Lamictal. Low Testosterone: Testim. None of these drugs have solved my problems permanently - some have mitigated some symptoms in the short term. My current diagnoses and treatments are: Bipolar 2 disorder, insomnia and low testosterone (tested at 104 ng/dl). I am currently taking the following medications: Lamictal 200mg once a day.
I have never taken buspar or neirontin or respital had to have weekly blood drawn to count my white cells for enemia, I hear they are all good drugs and I know of some replacement drugs they give out but i figure they already did the worst of the damage they are going to do and I am pretty stable except for bouts of depression and intolerance. sleeping pills and benzodiazapeines are so addictive I cant take them klonopin is especially habit forming.
