I suferred from gad and panic desorder. I'm on zoloft 175mg, clonopin 1mg 3 times a day, seroquel 100mg to go to sleep and 25 mg twice a day, however, I don't take the seroquel morning dose because it makes me too sleepy.
I'm desperate trying to find out why I'm still having anxiety and the ton of meds are not working. I was on disability for two months and just went back to work. I've been constantly crying and being anxious. I don't know what to do.
The reason I ask all the questions is I am curious about the usage. I have GAD and panic attacks but also tonic clonic seizures and mirages which is what it's intended for, however I have seen more and more neurologist using it to treat GAD and other panic type disorders.
I have just about burned myself out on Benzos like Klonopin to treat the GAD part of my depression. You know how Benzos are, they work for many months and then the body builds a resistance and back comes the severe anxiety.
Buspar is designed for anxiety and is not a Benzo. I was wondering it it may be an alternative to my failed Benzos.
Question being: does it work? How well did it work for you? How long did it work for you and how long does it take to work?
one time I thought I was having freaking heart attack and I felt like bugs were crwaling in my skin, i went over to the E-Room and they told me that I had GAD, this is when Xanax came in to my life. I stopped taking the ambien because the Xanax helped with the sleep.
This Wed I went to see my Dr. and he prescribed Seroquel and Effexor, now correct me if I am wrong, but in order to get off Xanax can't I just ween off of it and take half a pill until I come of of it.

You are NOT alone! I also suffer from bipolar and GAD. They seem to go hand in hand. I overanalyze everything I have said and done. I don't know how to help you, just wanted to let you know there are others out there going through this.
Anyone's suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Started at 10 mg, increased to 75 mg over time. Originally prescribed to help me sleep and help with my GAD. It helped at first but lost its effectiveness even after increasing the dosage. Panic attacks started while on the Elavil leading my doc and I to believe it is not helping the anxiety. Doc prescribed 1 mg Ativan to take on nights when I must get a good night's rest. It is working wonders for me.
When I first went, he diagnosed me with GAD and depression. He prescribed me Zoloft (100mg) and Xanax (0.25mg/3x a day), and several weeks ago, he had me get off the xanax. He then prescribed me seroquel (100mg) for the anxiety, and it seems to be helping, but I'm still 'paranoid' and have anxiety. I have very strong/weird fears of people. My biggest problem is anxiety thats why ive always been diagnosed with GAD. But this psychiatrist says she is sure i have bipolar and im still young so maybe havent had a full out episode. She based in on the fact that anti-depressants always make me more anxious and make my insomnia worse. I have had severe insomnia since i was 8 years old. 5 nights out of 7 i dont sleep at all, im constantly thinking about the day or jumping from one worry to another in my mind.
m wondering how long ago. There are medications available now that work really well for GAD and have a favorable side effect profile. The duel receptor types of medications that work on both serotonin and norepinephrine-- SRNI's. Effexor is a brand name of one of these types of drugs.
Have you tried something like this?
Is there anyone out there suffering with GAD and if so do you always seem to feel unusually tired and cannot concentrate well?
I am having my second bout with GAD after having relief for 18 years with no medication. I have been taking klonopin on and off for the last year. When I use klonopin it makes me feel like a new person. My concentration is improved I laugh my anxiety is gone and I have a general feeling of well being. I have been taking it everyday for the last two months at .25 mg a day in the morning. I know it does not sound like much but it works for me.
